My understanding of the story in that second video, based on some extra info on the League website, is it's essentially a near-death vision where Ambessa is being tested by the embodiments of Death and War to see if she is worthy of entering this world's version of Valhalla, an afterlife that is an eternal hunt and battle for only the greatest warriors. She sees her own transformation from an innocent child (the lamb) to a warrior (the wolf) and even a brief vision of her future where she is the great general we know in Arcane. Eventually, she passes the test and earns an afterlife of glory BUT decides she's not ready to die yet. She is pregnant with Mel and has a family she must live and build a future for
I don't that's actually pantheon or the Aspect of War, again it's just people who have also been on the brink of death and chose to fight on. You'll notice patterns on the soil. The runes were red while it was active, you see some red lines on the ground when she comes to. Lots of good stuff here.

Sheryll absolutely killed this track. I remember her first from an overlooked horror noir movie from HBO called To Cast a Deadly Spell. But also, obviously Moesha and her other numerous acting roles in TV and Film.
The lamb and wolf symbolism is a reference to Kindred. The League of Legends equivalent of the grim reaper. Kindred often appears to those on the verge of death. Typically appearing as two separate entities, the Lamb and the Wolf. Presenting the dieing with a choice. Die by Lambs arrow (ie: a quick and painless death) or be challenged by the Wolf. If you won, you would live, if you lost, you would suffer a brutal and painful death. Due to the warrior culture of Noxus, they revere the Wolf more than the Lamb. Noxians don't die peacefully. Because of this, Ambessa never got the option and instead only met the wolf, who challenged her to a gladiatorial death match. Interspersed with visions of her past and a vision of her sacrificing the statue of a lamb to the statue of a wolf. Possibly signifying the moment she surrendered any chance of a peaceful death. Though the exact details and context of this vision are too vague. The vision ends with her defeating the Wolf in combat and the Lamb rewarding her with life.
So tldr the incarnation of death in the league world is a dual spirit, the Lamb and the Wolf, who go by the name Kindred. The lamb grants a peaceful death to those who’ve earned it, while the wolf comes for those who refuse the lamb’s offer. Here, Ambessa is being “chosen” by the wolf to survive her appointed death, giving up her right to the peaceful death (the lamb that is sacrificed) but in return becoming the enactor of the Wolf’s will, dealing a violent end to those who try to live beyond their fate.
The man with the shield and spear who she fights in the spirit world is the Wolf in the form of the incarnation of War, Pantheon (not Pantheon himself, but the wolf in his form). The others you later see who are also chosen by the Wolf are Swain, a general of the Noxian empire, and Katarina, a talented assassin of high rank within Noxus.
Double feature! Nice! I hadn't seen that Paint the town blue, that beat hit HARD. I was not expecting that. 😄 Another great Reaction! "Jinx-coded" is WILD! 😂 Fits though.
Girl I get you SO MUCH. I smiled so much all throughout this video because SAME. I tried to be strong but I couldn't resist watching lmaoo. November 9th can't come soon enough!
In League of Legends, Kindred are the representation of death, the sheep that takes people who accept their end by offering them a painless death and the wolf that hunts those who flee from death. Noxus, which is Ambessa's hometown, they kind of idolize the wolf since they are part of a nation of warriors. So when Ambessa is about to die, she finds the wolf and fights him(Necrit said that maybe the wolf is just taking on the appearance of the Pantheon, and I kind of thought that was a good take)When she doesn't give up the fight, he lets her pass to find the sheep and come back to life.
You should react to more league stuff, there are a lot of interesting characters, including: jinx, vi, viktor, caitlyn, heimerdinger, ekko, and more, you can also find skins, alternate histories from other universes and more about those characters.
A thought occurred to me after re-watching too much of all this. Ambessa told Mel that she was exiled because she weakened Ambessa's resolve. Based on this video it seems like the young Ambessa was gentler until she became the Wolf, what if she saw her old self in Mel and that was why it was painful for her, it was a reminder of who she used to be and what she had to lose to become the Wolf.
The people at Fortiche never do things without having thought them through. The images, the most striking settings always have a meaning, always make a reference. For example, at the end of episode 3, where we see Powder's blue eye in which flames are reflected (= Jinx's purple eye) is directly inspired by a painting: The Fallen Angel (aka Lucifer) by Cabanel. In this video clip, the last scene, the battle lost by Embassa, takes place on the beach of the Etretat cliffs in Normandy. For French people, this is very telling. According to Maurice Leblanc (and therefore Arsène Lupin), the Etretat needle hides a fabulous secret. A secret that allowed Caesar and William the Conqueror to conquer Great Britain and who put Napoleon in check because he did not know him. Three warlords like Embessa. In Arcane there are winks, homages to popular culture in packs of twelve: Star Trek, Star Wars, Predator, James Bond, Rocky, etc.
It’s that attention to detail and their obvious love woven into their projects that make them stand out to me. I can’t wait to see more from Fortiche, post Arcane
@@artxroyalty They're dropping a work called Penelope of Sparta soon! Don't quote me, but I believe it's a film. I'm so excited. Never thought I'd fall for an art studio the way Fortiche made me swoon! 😂
@@artxroyalty So, if you don't know yet, the next major project from the Fortiche studio is an animated feature film: Penelope of Sparta. The screenplay for this upcoming film (when??) was written by Amanda Overton, the wonderful screenwriter of Arcane. In my opinion, the best thing that Arcane brings to pop culture is the development of female characters. So far from the heartbreaking, distressing, sometimes disgusting caricatures that the film industry shows us. A little thing to finish, a dialogue that will only make French people who speak a little English laugh: when Caitlyn says to Vi "I'm an excellent shot" (S1E5), the literal translation means in French slang: " I'm very good sexually." Funny and so French.
In the world of Runeterra the Kindred (the lamb and the wolf) represent the sister essences of death. The Sheep's arrow offers a quick escape for those who accept their fate. The Wolf hunts down those who flee their end and brings them to a violent end with his relentless jaws. My interpretation is that because of the wounds she has on this aftermath war scene she sees the representation of the wolf/death is coming for her, somehow she fights to survive... that's where we get all the trippy scenes of her battling, seeing herself on a throne willing to do anything to survive, abandoning her innocence behind letting go of the way of the lamb because Noxians believe in death by the wolf , so maybe Kindred deems her worthy of living and marks baby Mel for death instead(?)
Edit: you and me both, I am beyond stoked for s2! Yes i agree with you, they tweaked it slightly, but like you i cannot which part is different. You aren't wrong about your perception of Ambessa in S1. Its intentional by design for you not to trust her. She is shown as opulent, decadent, and aggressive. We are not supposed to like her, thus we dont what she says seriously. Only for everything she said to become true. "Slaughtered with your eyes closed."
Some people think the lamb and wolf thing is about kindred, which is like the grim reaper myth of runeterra- lamb comes for you if you peacefully accept death, wolf comes if you fight death. And that's valid. But I think it's at least as likely just about the classic interpretation of it representing innocence she lost when she was younger, and now she's the wolf not the lamb
Def woulda been a mistake to wait for the show before watchin the music video, I did the same thing with with S1 not watchin the Enemy mv until the 1st 3eps were out only to see it took place before & I just missed ground work😔
You were spot on about the lamb having special significance. In League lore, death is either a wolf (if you die in war) or a lamb (if you die peacefully), so when you see young Ambessa giving up the lamb, she's symbolically giving up the possibility of a peaceful life, and giving herself completely to war. After Ambessa passes the wolf's trial, you see the lamb giving her that three-headed trinket that ate the lamb idol in her flashback(/near-death fever dream?), meaning the rest of Ambessa's life is going to be spent delivering people to the wolf (by making them die in war).
it's not if you die in war or peacefully, you can die in war by the Lamb is you are accepting of it. the Wolf chases those who won't accept their death (being scared or refusing out of determination), the Lamb seeks those who accepts it. (either because they feel their time is over or they are willing to die for a cause)
The running joke among the League community over the past years was, given the quality of the cinematics they would put out, that Riot should make a TV show. Then Arcane came and continued the trend of not just great visuals but great storytelling. Only this time it wasn't just 5 minutes of a cinematic, it was a whole show.
@ If you haven’t already, either as reactions or on your own time, I’d highly recommend checking out the cinematics and music videos they’ve put out over the years! As someone who came in at Arcane I think it’d be really fun for you to see where it started and why people said they should make a show :)
So, with the wolf and lamb thing, that is this world's version of Death, known as Kindred. Kindred was so lonely that they divided themselves into two beings, the lamb and the wolf. The Lamb is a slender archer, who is usually white in color with a black mask (though in this, she is all black with red glow), and gives people the option of a quick, peaceful death with her arrow. The Wolf is black in color with a white mask, and when people refuse The Lamb's arrow, gives them the violent death that they have chosen. Noxians do not revere The Lamb, though, favoring The Wolf within their culture, which is why The Lamb in the video looks so different from normal. The video implies that Ambessa isn't Noxian by birth, but grew up in Shurima instead, living a peaceful life until... something happened that we don't know about yet. What we see isn't her training, it is a metaphysical battle with the wolf to determine whether or not she is worthy to live. I really recommend watching the Still Here cinematic. It is another amazing one, and features Kindred very heavily... and I think that Kindred is going to come into play in Season 2 from everything we've seen of them over the last year... Riot is drawing attention to them...
15:02 FR! "what was so great about 2024 grandpa?" *Me reclined in a hand stitched arcane blanket gently rocking back and forth in a rocking chair* "Arcane season 2 release day"
and it might be too detailed and lengthy for the reaction but this is a super interesting reaction of a film maker on this music video th-cam.com/video/e3J56kiKrT8/w-d-xo.html It explains a TON of tiny nuances of this perfection. It is just amazing how much effort put in this music video.
Can anyone in the know confirm, is that spear and shield wielding man she fights/trains with Pantheon? I haven't touched the game in over 7 years. Either it's an Arcane-updated version of him or just another soldier of his type. This interests me massively because it was my most played of the 4 characters I tried in the game, as generic as he was at the time (sort of a 300 trope). If he ends up as a backstory scene for Ambessa....I will melt in my seat. I mostly ask because while Jinx (especially) and Vi have always been flagship characters for the marketing of LoL, Pantheon was that generic, always on sale character I picked up base on Spartan tropes. To see him here reminds me that they are constantly trying to hit every corner of their fanship.
I’m not gonna lie-at this point, you need to check out and REACT to League of Legends lore. It's mandatory now. haha You should watch the league of legends cinematics which are also famous for their insane and different animation styles, music and graphics and each one is packed with lore. As an animation student myself, I freaking loved Riot for this and It's also the reason why the fans asked Riot for a decade to give them a show or a movie. 😆 I'm telling you, Arcane is just a tip of the iceberg in terms of how beautifully written league of legends lore is. I recommend "WARRIORS Season 2020 Cinematic" by League of Legends as a starting point because it's very close to arcane. I promise, you're going to love it.
@@artxroyalty omg, I know it's overwhelming at first, but im telling you it's gonna feel like you're in the narrow tip of a traffic cone, not wanting to move forward because you're still overwhelmed and comfortable of what you have ("Arcane") but as you discover the lore and what happening in the other regions besides Piltover & Zaun or the whole Runeterra ("League of Legends world"), you slowly move forward from that narrow tip and discover what you've been missing. You might probably say to yourself how come this is Waaay more better than the most famous IP out there? Because i did. And I'm still obsessed with this IP since 2013! Sooo please please please! Give yourself a chance to check out those cinematics just like what you did with Arcane!
I would say lets not fight on who is the main character of Arcane because the show runners themselves have said it is a story of both Vi and Jinx as sisters. Even though you might be biased, lets just watch the show as unbiased as possible because there is gonna be a lot of drama and people are gonna be on the hate train to a lot of characters. Just gotta get ready to defend all my girlies... Also, Season 1 is meant to be the story of how Jinx became Jinx and Season 2 is gonna be the joirney of how Vi became an Enforcer so nonetheless, they are both the main characters of this entire series...
I always make sure to approach this show with nuance, with that being said there’s nothing wrong with having a favorite character. You can do so and not be toxic (well some people can’t as I’ve seen on Twitter 😅) but regardless, you connect with certain characters for certain reasons. It’s only natural for people to start taking sides when a war is breaking out. Opens the door to some interesting conversation!

"I'm not gonna react to any new Arcane content until the release" AHAHAHAHA yeah.... same... same....... ... ... same... I tried so hard, and broke in minutes per sneak peak. I will say that weird series trailer they put out designed for people that had not seen season 1 yet was a super unfair spoiler-driven, Marvel-esque nightmare that I wish I avoided. Don't touch it, you will get no satisfaction from it. Blood Sweat and Tears was great, cuz its like a music release plus our Arcane Episodic prologue where they would usually do some character backstory before the theme-song hits, but put it as it's own thing. I have doubts any of it will be in the actual show, but it adds so much backstory for us. Also I've become a fan of Ashnikko over the years and am super excited she is part of Arcane. On your end comments, if I ever have kids: Arcane will be that show I introduce to them when they are old enough. It is officially a timeless classic in my eyes.

Lore head here! In Runeterra the aspect of Death is a being called Kindered. Depicted as a Lamb and Wolf. The Lamb often depicted weiding a bow offers a quick death to those who accept it and The Wolf chases down those who would deny The Kindered their death. Kindered also changes their appearance based on the cultural beliefs of who they are hunting. Ambessa is Noxian and they venerate The Wolf as their Icon of Death almost exclusively. This whole sequence was a near death experience that Ambessa while pregnant with Mel! The fight with the spearman who is a champion of the wolf is symbolic as she is refusing to stay down and notice she does not win or land a blow on him because the test was to see if she was worthy to keep fighting for life. Also the figure who hands Ambessa the blue crystal made of wolf heads is what the Lamb would look like to Noxians and I belive the crystal itself is ment to symbolize choosing to live a life of great struggle or maybe becoming one of the Chosen of the Wolf. Also this trailer was an ad for a Line of skins in LoL called Chosen of the Wolf
It’s not that I don’t want to, it’s just I want to bask in these characters right now, especially since their stories haven’t wrapped up, before diving into new ones that I’m not yet familiar with :)
Well - "Blood Sweat & Tears" is a shameless skin set promotion in the first place, BUT according to Necrit this video is dripping with League lore and I thought it could be a teaser as well - regarding where the journey might go next after Arcane (Ionia/Shurima/Noxus) I was getting trailer fatigue... and yet here I am and I love it 😁
what shameless about it,how do i you people expect the complany to make money, they give out free games, free music, free movies. how do you expect the employees to get paid, the skins are not pay to win its totally optional,i play league and i've never bought a skin,i still get free skins from time to time.the best league of legends player in the world doesnt play with skins
JINX NATION ARISE That's funny, for me it was opposite. I watched the music video with no sound and was determined to not listen to the song till we got it on the show, but I am weak and mortal 🫡 Also yep Ambessa was indeed pregnant in the music video. I wonder which if any of those scenes are going to be in the actual show, If I had to guess, it's probably the scene with Ambessa on the ground stabbed with the wolf, it looks very cinematic (and GORGEOUS, HOW DOES IT LOOK THAT GOOD?!?) That’s so sick 😭

Riot games out here dropping classic Disney esque songs with that blood sweat and tears
I got huge Lion king vibes from this song for some reason😅
I said the same thing. Ambessa got a full on Disney villain song.
Welcome do league lore rabbit hole: Pantheon is the warrior; The wolf is Kindred; and the baby is confirmed to be Mel.
The warrior is just an image of Pantheon. It's not really him.
Sheryll absolutely killed this track. I remember her first from an overlooked horror noir movie from HBO called To Cast a Deadly Spell. But also, obviously Moesha and her other numerous acting roles in TV and Film.
Yessss I was hoping this was a song we’d get before the s2 release. To see she got her own mv too…I was stoked!
Thank you for the breakdown! Let me write that down 📝
Great video, but you're hilarious and I'm here for it!
@@spectreharlequin hey! I’m glad you enjoyed it 😂
Double feature! Nice! I hadn't seen that Paint the town blue, that beat hit HARD. I was not expecting that. 😄 Another great Reaction! "Jinx-coded" is WILD! 😂 Fits though.
I loved PTTB when it first dropped but for some reason that beat was hitting harder in the video, had me pumped 😂

Oh we’re about to have a TIME with S2 content!! I’m glad you enjoyed the video 😂😂
Yesssss and her “giving up the lamb” was her giving up that part of her
I like that you acutally add commentary to these reactions, and you dont pause every 2 seconds. Im gonna go watch some more of your videos!!
Thank you so much! I try to think of making a reaction I know I’d want to watch, the feedback definitely helps!
P.S.: And I won't tell the secret of the needle. Even under torture...unless it's Embessa who asks of course.
Oooh I can definitely see both way! One thing about this show, they are going to incorporate some symbolism!
Nah, its definitely kindred.

Omg I was about to go to bed cuz I have work tmrw 😭😭But ty for the double upload!!
Y’all are just as obsessed as I am 😂
Oooh this is very interesting lore…🔥
The running joke among the League community over the past years was, given the quality of the cinematics they would put out, that Riot should make a TV show. Then Arcane came and continued the trend of not just great visuals but great storytelling. Only this time it wasn't just 5 minutes of a cinematic, it was a whole show.
And it’s a masterpiece in every sense of the word. I’m so glad they took that initial risk because this pay off…just wow
@ If you haven’t already, either as reactions or on your own time, I’d highly recommend checking out the cinematics and music videos they’ve put out over the years! As someone who came in at Arcane I think it’d be really fun for you to see where it started and why people said they should make a show :)

@@SilberBrisingr I’ve seen the mv and I absolutely LOVED it!!
I highly recommend necrit explaining Ambessas lore if you want or can.

*waiting for someone to confirm*
Probably wolf as Pantheon(also skin promotion)
You should also react to "Get Jinxed". It was released in 2013 but still great music video
I totally would but I’ve already seen the video, I don’t want to give you guys a fake reaction BUT I absolutely love the song
what necrit videos they will help you. He is lore king and is okay with reactors.
I’m not gonna lie-at this point, you need to check out and REACT to League of Legends lore. It's mandatory now. haha
You should watch the league of legends cinematics which are also famous for their insane and different animation styles, music and graphics and each one is packed with lore. As an animation student myself, I freaking loved Riot for this and It's also the reason why the fans asked Riot for a decade to give them a show or a movie. 😆
I'm telling you, Arcane is just a tip of the iceberg in terms of how beautifully written league of legends lore is. I recommend "WARRIORS Season 2020 Cinematic" by League of Legends as a starting point because it's very close to arcane. I promise, you're going to love it.
Whew there’s just soooo much 😅
@@artxroyalty omg, I know it's overwhelming at first, but im telling you it's gonna feel like you're in the narrow tip of a traffic cone, not wanting to move forward because you're still overwhelmed and comfortable of what you have ("Arcane") but as you discover the lore and what happening in the other regions besides Piltover & Zaun or the whole Runeterra ("League of Legends world"), you slowly move forward from that narrow tip and discover what you've been missing. You might probably say to yourself how come this is Waaay more better than the most famous IP out there? Because i did. And I'm still obsessed with this IP since 2013!
Sooo please please please! Give yourself a chance to check out those cinematics just like what you did with Arcane!
si quieres sumergirte en este mundo! bienvenida
Well, Jinx not the only main character. Vi also a main character, don't underestimate her pls 😢
😂lol you would 💯 definitely take shimmer just because of the colour if nothing else
Lmaooo y’all know me so well 😭
I think that Jinx deserves more😂
@@mariliadasilvaferreira326 I feel like they were trying to play it a little safe with a fandom that loves to over analyze. I get it, but I respect them being tight lipped and cautious about what they share concerning her 😅
There is a Necrit video if you need more context for Ambessa MV

Omg thank you for the lore!! You're the best!

Well - "Blood Sweat & Tears" is a shameless skin set promotion in the first place, BUT according to Necrit this video is dripping with League lore and I thought it could be a teaser as well - regarding where the journey might go next after Arcane (Ionia/Shurima/Noxus)
I was getting trailer fatigue... and yet here I am and I love it 😁
what shameless about it,how do i you people expect the complany to make money, they give out free games, free music, free movies. how do you expect the employees to get paid, the skins are not pay to win its totally optional,i play league and i've never bought a skin,i still get free skins from time to time.the best league of legends player in the world doesnt play with skins
Shameless - yeah i dont think they had to make an MV better than a typical entire hollywood movie just to do that
How dare they release an amazing music video to advertise their products! They should do cheap and shtty ads instead!
