Agreed. The albino cory has been a staple of virtually every tropical community tank ive ever had even growing up. It it didn't have Oscars or other big cichlids it had cory cats! In fact I only currently have 1 tank currently running, and its only inhabitants is a small group of my beloved albino corydoras.
I learned so much about balancing peaceful fish with more active ones. The way you explained each ranking with practical examples really helps me plan my next tank setup. The VO was smooth and made the whole video enjoyable to watch!
The way you describe the Harlequin Rasboras makes them sound like the graceful dancers of the aquarium world-truly a mesmerizing addition to any tank setup!
This video masterfully combines vivid descriptions with practical insights, offering both entertainment and valuable advice for aquarists. The engaging tone and detailed evaluations make it an enjoyable and informative guide for fish enthusiasts of all levels.
Awesome rankings! Loved the detailed insights on the best community fish, super helpful for building a peaceful and beautiful aquarium. Thanks for sharing!
I appreciate the balanced take on Platies-they bring so much color and energy, but managing their population really does take some planning. Great advice for anyone considering them!
Awesome video! 🐠 Loved the rankings and the insights-super helpful for anyone looking to build a vibrant aquarium community. Keep up the great work! 🌟👏
Such a helpful video! I never realized how much of a difference the right community fish can make. I’m definitely adding more species after watching this. Thanks for the tips! 😊
Loved this ranking! I have a few of these in my tank already and they’re doing great. The diversity of peaceful fish is awesome, especially for community setups. Definitely trying out the Corydoras next! 🐟✨
Excellent information. Really I learned lots of information about community fishes 🐟 , really useful for me. Very clearly understand your explanation. Tkx for sharing this information.
These community fish are perfect for many fishkeepers to own. Harlequin Rasbora is a great one. The species is known for its peaceful personality. The fish has the ability to survive in any water condition, which is nice! Thank you so much for doing this video.
I have always liked fish as pets. I have had fish tanks since I was a child and sometimes I like to watch these videos to learn more about them! I have had some of these species.
Gotta say African Dwarf frogs are absolute S tier for any livebearer tank, if you don't mind watching the circle of life in action. They won't bother the adults or larger juveniles, but are fantastic at keeping the fry numbers in check, to the point that you don't even need to feed them yourself anymore. Just 2 dwarf frogs can hold a 50 strong guppy swarm at bay in a 30 gallon with ease, ensuring only the strongest and best quality ones survive. They don't need much in the way of specialized living conditions, just some good hardscape for hiding and exploring in, and a lower flow pump since they aren't the strongest of swimmers. They never leave the water, only coming to the surface to grab a gulp of air before darting back down or resting afloat like a crocodile or alligator for a few minutes, and it's amazing to watch them slowly creep around the foliage like soldiers and prep themselves for the pounce just like a cat, waiting for the perfect time to strike😂
Great list! It's awesome to see so many underrated species getting the spotlight. I personally love the peaceful nature of tetras and guppies in my tank. Any recommendations for tank mates for a beginner-friendly community setup? 🐠💦
Each fish on this list brings unique qualities to a community tank, whether it’s their ability to coexist peacefully, their utility (like algae control), or their aesthetic appeal.
21:30 I received a few tanks from someone who could not take care of his fish any more, in one of the tanks were lampeye killifish, I found the light blue reflective color of their eyes were more striking than the green eyed rasboras... This group was peaceful and caused no problems in the tank. 23:33 I got a female Betta that is named Aretha because she is 100% attitude. I don't think she could be in a tank with anything but snails...
34:31 I have not found Ottos difficult to keep at all, and mine so really well in my tank at mid to upper 7pH. The tank is a deep substrate natural set up with little to no maintenance from me. They are always eating, when they are not eating in hiding, appear healthy, and I do substitute for the shrimp in the tank... They have not been seen on any of the algae wafers, and maybe once have I seen them in the spinach.
Angels only eat neons if the angels are adults before baby neons are added. I've kept angels for years and my father's kept them for years before I was ever born. We've often kept a single angel in a 29 gallon as a centerpiece with....neon tetras. I've between my father and I we have ONCE witnessed an angel kill a neon, and it was a female that had just laid eggs. and it didn't even eat the neon. Small angels added to an established tank don't see neons as food as they grow up, and in fact neons can act as great dither fish if you have a single angel. THAT BEING SAID. If you're personally uncomfortable with it, I completely understand! I recommend corys and a slightly larger schooling fish if you go with an angel centerpiece. Cherry barbs work fantastically, even with females that lay eggs as they're so active and quick the angels would rather just stay near their eggs than bother chasing them.
I would also like to include severum cichlids on this list for those with bigger tanks. Depending on the variety, you get an extremely peaceable large fish with vibrant colors. I have trouble finding any other large aquarium fish that is A) non-aggressive and B) has vibrant colors, other than discus which are very delicate (as mentioned in the video). Also wondering about the Geophagus, which I have not seem mentioned on this channel yet. As far as I'm aware, depending on the variety you go with they can be great in a community tank. Ex Geophagus Sveni.
Neons are S tier, I don't care what people say about over breeding, I can buy those little bastards from PETSMART and they do fine. They're easy to keep, can throw them in with anything, and DAMN are they pretty. Also angels aren't THAT bad, a single one as a centerpiece can go great in something like a 29 gallon community, especially if you get it young and it grows up with the other fish. Females CAN still be a little aggressive if your water quality is good enough for her to want to lay eggs tho, so if you get a female just make sure the schooling fish is a LITTLE on the larger and faster side (cherry barbs work great!)
Just finished cycling my 150*60 / 450l / 100gal aquarium. Sunday im picking up my pygmy corys, oto catfish, and rummy nose tetra schools Week later 2 pairs of pearl gouramis, congo tetras.. Needless to say i agree with this list :)
I’m surprised I forgot honestly. They would be midtier due to their sensitivity (cardinal and neons) with black neons being highest. I featured them in the schooling fish tier list
@ I saw that! I’ve been having an awful time keeping my neons alive. I don’t even see them expire, they just disappear! They’re a pretty sentimental fish to me - my grandpa kept them a lot - but I might cheat a little and move to cardinals or greens anyways.
Looking for advice I have a 23L tank that currently houses 4 Amano shrimp and an assassin snail. My tank is well planted with hiding spots and a sandy substrate. I’m considering either getting a large group of cherry shrimp and trying to breed them. Or Getting a female Betta and some Corys. I’m a bit cautious about the Corys because of the size of the tank and I’ve heard they’re better in groups of 6+.
Thank you. I kept a male betta with the shrimp before and some panda Corys and everything was fine but when I went on holiday my neighbour over fed and all the fish died.
Fairly new to the channel but I've been watching a few of your videos and I was wondering if it'd be a good idea to put in the average life span for someone who's still a noob at aquariums(def not me)
Hi Great site. I’m wanting to have a nano tank. If possible without the need of filter, Dr Fish type, plants doing the trick. The inhabitants I’m thinking about are small shrimp snails couple of neon gobies and dwarf Cories What do you think If doable maybe white cloud minnows or green neon tetras Thx
You lost me at Platy's being a C tier. I've always kept platies and they've never taken over the tank. Rating Gouramis over Platies is a huge disservice to Platies.
Awesome video! 🐠 Loved the rankings and the insights-super helpful for anyone looking to build a vibrant aquarium community. Keep up the great work! 🌟👏

Corydoras deserved the s tier
They are funny , useful , charming and beautiful

In this list, they do have their own advantages, and this makes them special when in the aquarium.
Glad to see Ember Tetras in the list ❤
But I am definitely getting some corydoras
Saw a Cory with a crown 👑 and wasn’t disappointed 💗.
Also I’m all for Cory merch ☺️🤙🏻.

@ greens or black are better choices. Their health has gone done over the years due to overbreeding
Also discuss other animals and their advantages, such as turtles and various other pets.
Looking for advice
