I think the Forrest / CHH collabs are definitely a symbiotic relationship. When he first started dropping with Hulvey, Hulvey was the bigger artist. He gets a lot of fire features from CHH artists that help him out as well

the identity part is key i am concerned with how many Christian artist are comfortable cussing, talking about their woman in sexual ways, flexing chains and just generally talking about the faith less. I think there needs to be a recognition that part of the reason chh is seen or has been seen as corny is the message(lyrics) but that message cannot be compromised
@@brooksrichardson cussing would be someone like Kaleb Mitchell. the woman part is a number of guys honestly and the flexing also a number of guys. My thing is that I don't think every song has to be the same i'm okay with people talking about life and being vulnerable but my thing is like okay if your going to talk about other stuff what is it like what is filling the gap so to speak and if its nothing edifying then i think that's not nurturing your platform well
gotcha I totally agree with all your saying I was just curious on who was showing those values so I can be on the watch for that. Thank you for your thoughts.
@@saltandlightministry1what did Jesus say (paraphrasing ) “out of the heart proceeds evil thoughts.”- whatever is on the inside is gonna come out. It’s one thing if you’re a baby in Christ and the LORD is working on you & it’s another thing when you just say you’re Christian ,but act worldly.
The people we became was my most listened to album 💿 on Spotify wrapped. And check out the homie by the name of Cyfe II. His album has amazing storytelling that’ll keep you listening from start to finish.
God analysis!! The new guys moving up really knows marketing and godly representation (for now). Division within the new group can definitely undo all the progress happening. Everyone needs to stay on the gospel mission even though they express there music differently. Your top 10 lists looks good too.
since Discovering Him just over a year ago, Forrest has easily climbed up on my "favorite artists" list and man is a legend, He is a huge name in his industry, His music is good and I'm so hyped to see him on tour. (also his album "Child of God" Is straight 🔥🔥 and the deluxe is great too)
So many great projects. As fans we all ate good this year. I'm excited for what's to come. And David keep em coming you're doing a great job as well. Someone earlier mentioned 350. He's on a good run as well. I love your top 10 picks though.
@Unknown2Yoo I know the feeling, he's like a niche in a niche so I don't ever hear anyone talk about him and yet for those he reaches I'm confident they are very blessed by his work.
Speaking of collabs, I thought it was a pretty good step when Adrion Butler ended up on Kyle Beats cypher along with I think two other Christian rappers. Speaks to the talent that's filling the genre.
My top eight for 2024 in no particular order 1. SCARED 2 DEATH- DJ Mykael &1995 (feat Gavin the HotRod & Selah the Corner) 2. CHRISTIAN'S SONG- Torey D'Shaun 3. Miracles- Hulvey 4. GOD IS GOOD- Caleb Gordon & Forrest Frank 5. On the radar freestyle - nobigdyl 6. I Need Faith - Alex Jean 7. TR!BE ON THE MOVE- DJ Mykael, 1995 & indie tribe 8. MANDATORY- indie tribe
This is gonna be a crazy comparison but stay with me! Forrest frank is the Christian version of Drake in a way. For instance Drake at his best collabs with other artists and lets them kinda take over the song and he just adds to it! It sounds more like the artist featuring but Drake just makes it better. Forrest as done the same thing. The nobigdyl feature sounds like a nobigdyl song not a Forrest song. Same with the Caleb’s Gordon and Torrey song. Forest just enhances it and helps get it out there. It’s so great for CHH and Forrest honestly ! Love what’s happening right now
MTM Isaiah is truly anointed. He gives the glory to God in his songs and uplifts his name to the truest level. It’s not about him when he raps it’s about the Lord our God, Christ Jesus. That’s the difference between him and these other Christian rappers.
I really thought I liked Christian rap when I heard hulvey, KB, lecrae, torey, Caleb, forest, dkg kie, nobigdyl, and guys like them but when I heard MTM Isaiah I knew he was different. and other honorable mentions such as Young C. Great men of God truly uplifting the Father and the Kingdom
I swear Christian rap went from “boy been a Christian for quite a few years” ahh bars to NoBigDyl, Andy Mineo, and an improved Lecrae w the “church clothes” series this has been going great recently
I don’t mind an artists saying DAMN here and if if it’s a story you’re telling. For example, ANDY MINEO new project he says damn on a couple of songs. Andy Mineo is older now so his music is more PG-13, not rated G. Also think Andy is more aware of his audience now ( Secular people who believe in GOD but acknowledge they don’t have it together yet and rough around the edges). So a cuss word is nothing to that audience. I love the different and unique styles of artists now. They’re not monolithic. And THANK GOD they’re no longer corny. 😂
I don't want to be negative but I feel like we are still far away from not being cringe. "Bro got it all he think he temu. I was blind peekaboo now I see you." Im just using the example you had in the video but to me this is just a really bad verse. And in the secular side there's probably 10x more of this but at least the more creative side of secular this verse would not pass by as good. I really do like where CHH is headed towards but I still can't say they are making new trends or making a new sound. Ive listen to a few albums this year and most of the themes and ideas in the albums are overused in every song, already done in the past, and not creative. I still can't say there's a specific sound that instantly makes you think of a CHH artist. The closest I would say is Hulvey since anytime I hear a soul sample or choir or gospel sound I can assume it's Hulvey. I like that but at this point he would need to expand on that and not over use it. We as Christians tend to emphasize on lyrics more than new sounds that challenge, and make people uncomfortable and open to new sounds/ trends/ ideas, ect... and I feel like thats why we never see a CHH Artist creating the trend or making a new sound like Kendrick (TPAP, GNX), Kanye (808s/Yeezus/College drop out), or even Tyler the creator (Igor, call me if you get lost, chromakopia). Not saying the secular artist have better messages cuz they don't but the way they make a new sound and experience and story telling is far from where we are at in CHH. The main goal isn't making Christianity as popular as we can by making music that sounds secular but to use the gift that God has giving us to our fullest extent and to glorify him. Even though these secular artists aren't glorifying God they still use their talents that God gave them the best they can and they don't try to just follow trends or make music that sounds like the most popular out now. All that to say I really hope CHH starts to lead the industry and be part of the culture but we still have a long way to go not to be most popular but to use talents best we can. Again sorry for being negative but I just wanted to give my honest opinion.
I think christian artists need to be more intentional with the music and sound. People are attracted to characters, and just preaching all the time instead of letting them get attached to you creates this weird barrier.
Your comment points to a big problem within CHH; many “fans” are hyper critical and uninformed. It’s pretty clear that you’re either not up to date with CHH or unwilling to review it honestly because to make blanket statements like there isn’t a specific sound that makes you think of a CHH artist is wild. Listen to nobigdyl and you immediately know it’s him. Same with Miles Minnick, Jon Keith, Caleb Gordon, Battz, Jackie Hill Perry, whatuprg, 1k phew, Austin White 711, and the list goes on and on. But that same statement contradicts your other statement that they aren’t original or creative. So you think they should have an immediately recognizable sound, yet be completely original like Kanye, Kendrick and Tyler. What makes those artists good is that they have a very diverse catalogue and use a lot of creativity. The exact same thing is true with many, many CHH artists and if we’re honest we could truthfully admit that CHH artists are far more creative than the majority of secular artists and many are doing it very professionally, with high quality, and in a God-honoring way.
