You guys should really tell him that the un is heavily involved in this game plus bear and usec are both private military contractors with access to an absurd amount of arms dealers
Even someone who does not play the game can easily spot the worst problem plaguing it at the moment. The recoil on most guns is atrociously high, especially when you consider the games main focus is realism. Why does a 5.56 semi auto rifle have the recoil of a .308 battle rifle? Its the main reason that stopped me from playing the game
The headquarters of Battlestate Games is located in London. Im sure you could get a good video out of Jonathan visiting the HQ and chatting to the devs about modeling guns and creating mechanics for them in the game.
When are we going to get a part 2 of the Firearms Expert Reacts to Timesplitters franchise weapons video? as honestly there is more weapons from those games that should get covered
DayZ actually has the feature to operate a gun based on what kind of parts you can find for it. If you find a fun as a random spawn, there's a chance it doesn't have a magazine and you have to manually load each round
I want to see Jonathan let it rip in the Tarkov Gunsmith, like show him the market, traders + most importantly different parts/how to build guns and see what he makes! Dave could always test them out in the game afterwards and show Jonathan how he did :)
In Tarkov, there's a merchant who goes by "Peacekeeper" and he's an arms dealer for the UN who's set up on the border on the conflict zone. He can get his hand on basically any western weapon. This is a huge simplification, but it's a quick explanation to how the PMCs are getting these Gucci guns.
In regards to the mention if the Rifle Dynamics AK at 10:23, there is a trader named Peacekeeper who will sell you UN/Western issued weapons, most others in the game aside for therapist will sell you Russian/Eastern weapons one being Mechanic a trader who will sell customized versions of weapons, he actually sells the RD-704 at his highest level
There are western guns in Tarkov because one of the main factions is western PMCs from USEC! So spot on on noticing that it was specifically a western variant.
Also the suppressors and guns heating too quickly is also an issue. 1-2 mags of full auto with an M16 variant and your gun starts to experience stoppages.
The only argument I can see for a revolver is reliability, mechanically I don't see any more reliable firearm than maybe a well machined/forged slamfire shotgun. I don't think I've ever seen a revolver malfunction in the "normal" way, as in, shells not ejecting on a pistol causing a jam etc. Grime and dirt would impact a revolver far less I would think as well.
Which is why revolvers are commonly used as a kind of self-defense/survival weapon for hiking trips, in rough climates like the arctic, and of course a backup for large game hunting. Basically anywhere where you aren't really concerned about using it all the time, but when you need it it ABSOLUTELY has to work flawlessly. That's also why some people carry revolvers over automatic pistols in day to day life.
@@hummel6364Also in those situations where you're bringing a backup, it's going to be in a larger calibre than the usual handgun lot, which fits more comfortably in your hand as a revolver than as one of the few magnum handguns.
They turned the recoil (for everything) to 11 to try and combat the ridiculous run-and-gun, spray&pray playstyle. The AR-15 used to be much more authentic.
Just a bit of tarkov lore explanation for those wondering. The reason there is such an interesting variety of weapons and equipment available in tarkov is that people are shipping it in to keep the conflict going. The chaos in tarkov and the sensitive nature of the information and technology left behind during the evacuation means there is a lot of money to be made in shady dealings, so there's a lot of fingers in the pie. The traders have access to outside channels to get gear and stuff so they can get you all kinds of new fangled tacticry. One of the traders is literally a dude from the U.N. who sells lots of western style kit.
Could you do an episode on the original Half-Life? It would be interesting to watch since it includes some famous weapons but with secondary abilities they don't really have in real life and a healthy dose of inacurasies, as well as some fictional ones

Great stuff Also thank you so much for having more "normal" weapons this time lol I mean the crazy glock and the revolver shotgun thing are neat, but they're not weapons a lot of us are super interested in? Could be wrong. Plus I love that this channel helps get some of our fellow nerds into firearms, teaches them more about them, and maybe makes them seem less "scary" or intimidating. They're just cool objects : )
estimating range is not too bad in Tarkov, Once you have some gauge of 100m its easy to then multiply that for distance appraisal or sighting your scope can use landmarks or player model size as well
So for the single-loading weapons bit, I recommend showing Jonathan the vanilla weapons of DayZ Standalone. Add to it the durability and jamming of weapons, and it's really quite detailed, though that's to be expected when it's a survival game using a modified MilSim engine.
Even Jonathan can see there's too much recoil on 5.56 and he doesn't even play the game! Been an ongoing issue in the community since their December update

@@Kralledd because it gives you a gameplay advantage. The game isn’t personally tailored to people with motion sickness; just because it affects you, doesn’t mean it should be balanced around that. More often than not people crank the FoV to be able to see more around them, not to avoid sickness.
Thank you Jonathan, really love all the insight on how all of these guns could/should/do work. Appreciate you taking your time to make these videos for us!
i would love it if yall do another episode, that you show a cursed gun made by BNBaku i belive on YT. it's basically a shotgun with the max amount of rails or hexagon scope fitters or something, (as you can see i don't really have a lot of Tarakov knowledge) and you place a flashlight on every individual one of them and then a scope at the top essentially making you see like 6m into the sky and making the enemy blind in the process :)
There was a bit too much recoil on everything in the game until just recently - they had guns pivoting at the pistol grip instead of the stock.
This is one of the rare series that I watch all of especially one the updates so frequently and it’s so different to what I normally watch
Huge fan of Jonathan and these videos. I always come away learning something new from each one. Would love to see you guys take a look at Red Orchestra 2's guns. It's the WWII predecessor to Rising Storm 2, and I'd love to hear Jonathan's thoughts on the weapons Tripwire put so much time and effort into.
MORE TARKOV, thanks Johnathan for the video, always a pleasure
This guy is the only reason i even follow this channel tbh, love it =)
Jonathan is correct, currentl patch tarkov has absurdly high recoil for the first 1-5 shots of each burst, and then basically no recoil for the rest of the magazine. Everyone is complaining for the devs to change it.
You should do Verdun, Tannenberg & Isonzo (which is coming out pretty soon). They have some pretty good WW1 representation.
absolutely!!
it would be really cool to see a part 2 for hunt showdown's guns
Yeah they really didnt show many of the really cool models in the first video
Now that they changed the recoil I’d like a redo
I appreciate the over analyzing of the weapons and the possible availability of them in this type of region!
Yes, even John sees tarkovs recoil problem.
I'd love to see him take a look at some guns from synthetik. It also has a jam system, with the quite unique reload mechanics, as well as some very interesting weapons
The recoil in Tarkov has been messed up for a while. It has been raised significantly because people complained about meta loadouts basically being flat. If I remember correctly they plan to rebalance it.
Aw... I was hoping to see the player torture poor Jonathan more like Episode 3. It's both amusing to see his reactions to these 'cursed' weapon builds but also very nice and informative to see and hear his honest commentary and analysis of just how these odd, cursed guns would work in real life.
Just when you think he ain't done with Tarkov, there's MOAR!
I hope by part 6 they explain to Jonathan some of the lore abt the contract wars and pmcs in the near future environment and thus explains the presence of new weapons ie sig spear they just added
Can we get a livestream or a video of Jonathan playing or just using guns in tarkov? Would be so much fun.
I'm glad the 556 situation was mentioned
New streamer items, Jonathon's blue gloves or the emotional support stg-44
Fun Fact: One of the M4 handguards that is manufactured by colt actually has in game the real number you can call .
Jonathan keepin this channel alive
You guys should really tell him that the un is heavily involved in this game plus bear and usec are both private military contractors with access to an absurd amount of arms dealers
I love these series! that guy is spot on for a host! Shoutout to Jonathan! - i admire your knowledge sir!
Should do an episode dedicated to the different AK models within the game!
Jonathan never ceases to impress. Great Job !
The headquarters of Battlestate Games is located in London. Im sure you could get a good video out of Jonathan visiting the HQ and chatting to the devs about modeling guns and creating mechanics for them in the game.
The studio is in saint petersburg the london hq is just a cold office
This is a huge simplification, but it's a quick explanation to how the PMCs are getting these Gucci guns.
even without playing Johnathon can recognize the recoil is super exaggerated lol
Johnathan, I love your videos! Thank you for the content!
There are western guns in Tarkov because one of the main factions is western PMCs from USEC! So spot on on noticing that it was specifically a western variant.
Also the suppressors and guns heating too quickly is also an issue. 1-2 mags of full auto with an M16 variant and your gun starts to experience stoppages.
wait until the next wipe when they add the sig spear all the as val variants and the rpd
I'd really like to see more Hunt: showdown videos. I know they did the 1 but there are alot more weapons to touch on.
At this point Jonathan should always have on his lap his emotional support STG because at least once per video he needs it
The only argument I can see for a revolver is reliability, mechanically I don't see any more reliable firearm than maybe a well machined/forged slamfire shotgun.
“There seems to be a bit too much recoil going on”
Oh you have no idea
Another Episode of Tarkov guns woud be very nice :) Still some interesting guns left (PKM/P, Spear, SR25/RSASS, AK12, S/AVT, Kedr, STM)
They turned the recoil (for everything) to 11 to try and combat the ridiculous run-and-gun, spray&pray playstyle.
The AR-15 used to be much more authentic.
“Set in present day, or the near future at least”
*glances at in-game Tarkov 2016 calendar”
Holy bejeezers! Is that Jonathan Ferguson, keeper of firearms and artillery at the Royal Arms Museum in the UK???
"bit too much recoil on the automatic rifles"
Oh Jon, you don't even know the half of it.
I'd love to see an episode on Receiver. It's got _very_ nicely modelled weapons in there.
If you can find it I remember the guns from Black on ps2 being amazing at the time. It would be interesting to see if they were as good as I remember.
Bruh that thumbnail is hella criminal 🤣🤣
Dudes just standing there smiling with a decked out handgun and surgical gloves looking like he's the hitman and disposal guy all in one 2 for 1 package 😂
The Mosin in the back looks super tactical, if you manage to ignore the upper half of the Scar behind it
Ohh man I friggin love a Scar : ) Former navy seal "Coch" has an awesome youtube channel tactical hyve I believe, and on it he has a video where he talks about being involved with the development, and that for example the scar being able to have its grips changed for any that fit on a regular ar15 was his idea. Great stuff
Also thank you so much for having more "normal" weapons this time lol I mean the crazy glock and the revolver shotgun thing are neat, but they're not weapons a lot of us are super interested in? Could be wrong. Plus I love that this channel helps get some of our fellow nerds into firearms, teaches them more about them, and maybe makes them seem less "scary" or intimidating. They're just cool objects : )
estimating range is not too bad in Tarkov,
Once you have some gauge of 100m its easy to then multiply that for distance appraisal or sighting your scope
can use landmarks or player model size as well
I’ve got a SCAR L in my lap, as you do. Hilarious.
i think i speak for a lot of us when i say that I'd love to see Jonathan play tarkov
So for the single-loading weapons bit, I recommend showing Jonathan the vanilla weapons of DayZ Standalone.
Add to it the durability and jamming of weapons, and it's really quite detailed, though that's to be expected when it's a survival game using a modified MilSim engine.
When a Dragunov and an M16 love each other very much…
We need him to look at new tarkov wipe
Very cool to have the subsections of the video
5:45 It is one of the rarest guns in the game though, so they kind of modeled that dynamic.
looking forward to part 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10
without this man this series is nothing.
Even Jonathan can see there's too much recoil on 5.56 and he doesn't even play the game! Been an ongoing issue in the community since their December update
