I'm surprised there wasn't far more backlash from Fire Nation denizens who were raised on 100 years worth of Fire Nation propaganda. They would've probably gone ape seeing the traitor Prince Zuko as Fire Lord. I guess having the Avatar with him is a deterrent for anyone who wants to assassinate Zuko.

You should read the comics. Alot of that stuff happened. There was an assassination attempt on his life, and a whole coup to take him down and place Ozai back on the throne
