    You guys are a life saver. Followed you guys video and made it really simple. Only problem was the 14mm bolts on the starter itself, my hands were too big. Once again appreciate the video

    More GS content please :).
    And how convenient just as I am about to do the starter on my GS!
    Also, was the car sitting a long time? That knock almost sounded like valve bucket tick. Maybe it didn't have enough lubrication from sitting a while.

      Agreed about more GS content! There will certainly be more for sure. The car actually was just running earlier that morning. It actually started on about the 7th or 8th try, and we let it idle for a bit. So not sure if it was an oil starved bucket. I thought it was misfiring due to lack of fuel in a few cylinders, but it did not sound like the typical misfire I am used to. Moral of the story, more GS content.

    I like how you put on here doing this solo would suck, I'm experiencing this now LOL! I'm battling the good ole knock sensor issue in my GS430 right now (about to replace the whole harness and put my OEM sensors back in to see what happens) and it's been tough working on her solo. Had to lift the intake twice by myself, feel like I got lucky getting it in and out with no issues on breaking anything. I did chip the top corner of my O2 sensor but the plug clicks into place still

      Yea, I've removed plenty of intake manifolds, this one is somewhat of a beast, but managable.

      18x9.5 - 275/35/18 Rear
      Not sure on the offset! Agree though, great looking wheels on this car 👌🏻

    If I ever buy a car with this motor, the first thing I am going to have done, is swapping out the starter along with the timing belt, as preventative maintenance.
    What was the reasoning behind this design?

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would say a timing belt is always a good preventative maintenance on any used car with unknown maintenance history. I actually do not mind the location of the start here, many other manufactures do it as well. Its just design/engineer preference. Probably because the headers come down real tight to the block.

    I do have a question though, is the knock sensor wire harness plugged in inside of that yellow-ish cover?? That's the one thing I haven't figured out with this car is where the hell this knock sensor harness actually plugs in at

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      not sure exactly where the knock sensor is, I thought yellow connections were airbag related.

      @@PBGarage I actually do believe I have it figured out and I'm gonna make a video on this whole ordeal soon actually. I feel like the 2004s are slightly more of a headache due to it being the last year they made the "bug eye" GS430 body. Nonetheless, these cars have one touchy ECU that's for sure. You almost HAVE to get OEM with sensors in this car. Fortunately I've found the manufacturers (that's right, only two LOL) that make the OEM knock sensor for the 2004 GS430 and I'll be ordering them today actually. Fingers crossed I get her back to her former glory and get to put some content out here!! I'm sitting on a few videos and DIY ideas that have worked great on this car

    What size were the fuel line bolts?

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      14mm and 19mm, best to use a crows foot wrench over normal cut wrenches

  • @travisstamp7428

    Where was the 3rd vacuum line on the intake box? You only showed 2 being removed.

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think if I recall correctly it is around the back of the box, touch and feeling around will make it pretty obvious.

    What did you torque the aluminum bolts to on the manifold to ?

    • @PBGarage

      18nm or 13 ftlbs . Realized it duffed the text....

  • @booneylander

    Great vid! Can’t believe people are dropping coolant, you made it look easy. How much does that intake weigh? Lol

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The FSM says to remove that coolant cross over pipe, so if you wanted to follow the manufacture, to be able to hit the bolts with a torque wrench, then it makes sense. Brad said he lost all muscles since the lock downs began! My dad has no excuses!!!

    • @bmgoss
      @bmgoss 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@PBGarage dad was only guiding the intake so it didn’t hit stuff while being lifted out by the others. It probably weighs 30 lbs, but was awkward to lift and carry as there are few places to get good grip.

      I managed to remove the intake solo by tightening a copper wire across 2 pairs of bolts up top on back and front of intake to make wire handles. Although because you are stretched out over the engine from either fender it is a painful position with little leverage. Can't wait to feel my body aching tomorrow.

      Is there any reason you prefer to remove the throttle body instead of leaving it attached? I read some people leave it on when removing the manifold bc apparently it’s easier/less work in their opinion.

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dlee6985 It was really only four bolts to remove the throttle body, I'd rather do that than disconnect coolant lines and have it leak everywhere. Pick your poison I guess.
