@@JawstR None of the numbers support your argument. Kobe is top 5ish for me, he isn't top 3. MJ, Bird, KD, and Dirk were all more proficient and smarter with their mid range selection. We also have to factor in that Kobe's mid-range jumper was not great in his first seven years. It was not in it's complete form until the 2005-06 season. Kobe was a very average shooter his first 4 seasons, then became good the next 3 seasons. Bird and Dirk were complete shooters from the beginning, and MJ's jumper was much better than Kobe's in their first 7 years. Kobe's poor shot selection is why he drops down on this list. Hot take: Melo is the Ken Griffey Jr of the NBA: - Never won a ring, primarily played for a franchise that showed flashes but never did much (NY and SEA) - Remembered for the beauty of their game (Melo's pretty jumper and KGJ's perfect swing) - Prolific scorers but never the best scorer in the league
I understand what you're trying to say but the biggest differences are Griffey was considered the best player in the league for multiple years he was a great defensive player and baseball is more of a team game so it doesn't matter how great you are you can only control so much i.e Mike Trout so not winning a ring in baseball is looked at completely different.
Blasphemy Griffey was the best player in the MLB voted the best player of the 1990s and his peak is all time great not just Top 10 in the NBA for a few seasons like Melo
They have some similarities but, I literally just watched a video of Michael Jordan asking for Ken Griffey’s autograph in ‘94…Griffey was on that level in the early 90s and not for no reason
You forgot one player, very underrated, his mid range was unbeatable, seriously, like he didn’t miss a shot his whole career, I’m talking about Shaun Livingston
A mid-range shot in the NBA is a jumper outside of the key, but inside the three-point line. It's subjective though. So not all mid range shots are necessarily equal. A player who mainly shoots close range jumpers can not be compared with a player who takes shots just inside the 3 point arc.
glenn robinson and allen houston should be mentioned here as well. since nba keeps track of shooting locations (96/97) robinson been amongst leaders in mid range shots. he was: 6th in 97 with 9.4 attempts and making 46% 2nd in 98 with 12.3 attempts (45%) 3rd in 99 with 9.6 attempts (44%) 3rd in 00 with 10.3 attempts (48%) 7th in 01 with 9.9 attempts (45%) then he fell out of top 10 in mid range attempts as the league became more of a volume scoring swingmen league, but he would still average around 10 attempts and with a solid 45 to 50 fg% for another couple of years. houston was never amongst the leaders in attempts, but he had a 4/5 year run in late 90s/early 00s where he would take around 9 mid range shots per game and shoot close to 50%. if he played today he would easily be the best mid range shooter.
I have a tough time believing that the best mid-range shooters were all in the last 20 years. Because guys like Bernard King, Adrian bantley, Alex English, we're literally mid-range bandits. How is it at the most mid-range specialized era doesn't hold most of the top five spots

Larry Bird is way too low! I know they didn't track the shot stats back then but anyone who watched him knew he was was an absolute sniper! Honestly if he was #1 over MJ, i might not have thought twice about it.
1. MJ (lived there) 2. KD (efficiency and unguardability) 3. Dirk (fathered one-legged fadeaway plus unguardability) 4. Kobe (surreal degree of difficulty shots. Efficiency would''ve been higher had he been more disciplined in shot selection like MJ but one can't stop Mamba from being Mamba.) 5. Kawhi (Super Kawhian in the playoffs and a fun guy) 6. Bird (would've ranked him at 5 above Kawhi were he also a fun guy. His middies so nasty no room for anything fun about it) 7. Melo (deserves it with the eye-test alone) 8. LBJ (not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7)
I thought KD, MJ and Dirk are definitely top 3 before watching this video. CP3 is good, but top 3 is way too high. Plus I don't understand why some people always say Melo has the prettiest jump shot ever. It's from textbook of course, but players like Kobe, MJ and T-Mac who have beautiful fadeaway shot skill are much more aesthetically pleasing to watch IMO. Not to mention Melo has a really big butt. My order is: 1. either MJ or KD depends on your focus on efficiency or production 2. MJ or KD 3. Dirk 4. Kobe 5. Adrian Dantley (most underrated one) 6. Kawhi 7. Bird 8. Gervin (also underrated) 9. CP3 10. Melo (overrated, took too many shots w/ low efficiency)
Very good list. However, KD has played on super stacked teams his entire career. Easier to be efficient when defenses can't focus on just stopping you. MJ, Dirk and Kawhi are all above KD as mid range shooters, IMO. Dantley might be too, but I was too young to watch him play.
The only time Kawhi didn't play with Stars was in Toronto. How can u say young okc was stacked, kd was carrying that team. If u say that Mj bulls was stacked too
1. MJ (kd has a case) 2. KD 3. Kobe (best difficult shot maker here shot league average or above in his prime in the most difficult era to score on the highest volume) 4. Dirk 5. Kawhi 6. Cp3 (you can put them on any order but dirk had better volume and longevity, cp3 inst higher cause it didnt lead to a chip which he had chances to win). 7. Kg (wanted him to be higher but the drop which was his mid range after his prime doesnt sit right, he wasnt dominant as scorer as the guys ahead). 8. Bird. 9. Melo (one is more efficient but less difficult shots, the other made more on harder difficultly, you can decide on either one but birds did led to winning cant say that for melo. 10. Hakkem (the goat mid ranger shooter by a center and greatest post player very underrated)

Jordan's mid-range percentage in the 91-92 season, as manually measured by a layman, was 52.1%. He took an average of 12.1 midrange shots and made 6.3. 😂
Percentage means nothing with Jordan. When you factor in whole defenses were locked in in him he’s number 1 by miles
@@Ninjersey1 I agree with you, but people also look at the numbers, so we can't completely dismiss it. But if we look at the numbers more, the difference in volume is so overwhelming that Jordan's midrange made numbers are almost as many as other player`s attempt's, so if we take that into account to consider, he's the overwhelming No. 1.

Lamarcus Aldridge was an underrated bucket from middy. Think he should have made honorable mention. But also, at the end of the day I’m taking KD over MJ to hit a middy.
Respect but I want air Jordan
Mj over everybody else in crunch time! Everyone holding their breath when mj shoots the middy and he never disapoints in crunch time!
I've seen KD fold too many times in the clutch. MJ makes those middys when it matters the most, and he can get it off better through physicality than stick n bones KD. We all know that when KD gets bumped around, his shot becomes fragile.
Is this nigga kidding? Bruh Jordan made 13 game winning buzzer beater shots in 13 years compared to 0 in 15
@@QuestionEverything562I've seen MJ miss those same shots in the "clutch".
Garnett over Bird is crazy
nah KG was automatic in minnesota
In terms of pure shooting, prime Garnett was higher volume from midrange. Bird also had more offensive responsibilities than scoring, rebounding, and screen-setting which was what Garnett was on the Timberwolves.
Isn't Bird more well known for his three point shooting though? Lol
Chris Paul over Larry Bird is fucking CRAZY asf 🤣 🤣

MJ, Kobe, Dirk, Bird, Wade, KD, and KG are the best that come to my mind.

Kobe Bryant anywhere behind top 3 is insane, but still a good video
You must be insane. Kobe is not the mid-range shooter that MJ, KD, Bird, or Dirk were. Bird is the one that is on this list that is criminally low.
@@QuestionEverything562 if MJ is 1 then kobe is fs top 3. Kobe is arguably a better mid range then MJ, kobe's signature was the fadeaway midrange just like MJ"s and was just as good. His pull up mid range was crazy, and for being double teamed for most of his career and still considered a lock top 5 mid range shooter off all time, he deserves top 3 bro
@@JawstR None of the numbers support your argument. Kobe is top 5ish for me, he isn't top 3. MJ, Bird, KD, and Dirk were all more proficient and smarter with their mid range selection. Kobe was a great mid range shooter, but he literally copied every signature MJ move and shot the same type of shots, but at a lower efficiency. Do I think he could shoot middy shot for middy shot with MJ? Sure, like in practice, but MJ created better shots for himself when it was game time with better physical abilities than Kobe did. That's the difference.

Hot take: Melo is the Ken Griffey Jr of the NBA:
- Never won a ring, primarily played for a franchise that showed flashes but never did much (NY and SEA)
- Remembered for the beauty of their game (Melo's pretty jumper and KGJ's perfect swing)
- Prolific scorers but never the best scorer in the league
I understand what you're trying to say but the biggest differences are Griffey was considered the best player in the league for multiple years he was a great defensive player and baseball is more of a team game so it doesn't matter how great you are you can only control so much i.e Mike Trout so not winning a ring in baseball is looked at completely different.
@@thepoy9404 in the world of apples and oranges, the Melo apple kinda looks like the Griffey orange
A player who mainly shoots close range jumpers can not be compared with a player who takes shots just inside the 3 point arc.
glenn robinson and allen houston should be mentioned here as well. since nba keeps track of shooting locations (96/97) robinson been amongst leaders in mid range shots.
he was:
6th in 97 with 9.4 attempts and making 46%
2nd in 98 with 12.3 attempts (45%)
3rd in 99 with 9.6 attempts (44%)
3rd in 00 with 10.3 attempts (48%)
7th in 01 with 9.9 attempts (45%)
then he fell out of top 10 in mid range attempts as the league became more of a volume scoring swingmen league, but he would still average around 10 attempts and with a solid 45 to 50 fg% for another couple of years.
houston was never amongst the leaders in attempts, but he had a 4/5 year run in late 90s/early 00s where he would take around 9 mid range shots per game and shoot close to 50%. if he played today he would easily be the best mid range shooter.

Agree, garbage dog sh!t video. Garbage take. It makes no sense. K.G. , Carmelo, K. Leonard and many other ahead of BIRD, Bernard King, ICEMAN when midrange was the game? Gah I can’t believe I’m getting this worked up over a GALACTICALLY brainless, laughable video.
Larry Bird is way too low! I know they didn't track the shot stats back then but anyone who watched him knew he was was an absolute sniper! Honestly if he was #1 over MJ, i might not have thought twice about it.
Rip hamilton also absolutely deserves a mention here

5- Kawhi
6- Demar

9- Booker
10- KG
1. MJ (lived there)
2. KD (efficiency and unguardability)
3. Dirk (fathered one-legged fadeaway plus unguardability)
4. Kobe (surreal degree of difficulty shots. Efficiency would''ve been higher had he been more disciplined in shot selection like MJ but one can't stop Mamba from being Mamba.)
5. Kawhi (Super Kawhian in the playoffs and a fun guy)
6. Bird (would've ranked him at 5 above Kawhi were he also a fun guy. His middies so nasty no room for anything fun about it)
7. Melo (deserves it with the eye-test alone)

3. Dirk
4. Kobe
5. Adrian Dantley (most underrated one)

on just stopping you. MJ, Dirk and Kawhi are all above KD as mid range shooters, IMO. Dantley might be too, but I was too young to
watch him play.
The only time Kawhi didn't play with Stars was in Toronto. How can u say young okc was stacked, kd was carrying that team. If u say that Mj bulls was stacked too
Kawhi ahead of Kobe, bird, or the midrange god DeRozan is an absolute atrocity.....🤦🤬
1. MJ (kd has a case)
2. KD
3. Kobe (best difficult shot maker here shot league average or above in his prime in the most difficult era to score on the highest volume)
4. Dirk 5.
