Three barge workers are dead and three other men, including a rescue worker, were seriously injured when they were apparently overcome by toxic fumes as they worked in the barge's hold.
The mid-morning accident occurred yesterday about 15 kilometres east of Vancouver, on the banks of the Fraser River, where the barge was undergoing repairs.
Police said five employees were working in the hold when they collapsed, one after another, in a deadly chain reaction.
