You know, the ending of season 3 has confirmed my worst fears of Bridgerton. I fear the series was going to go more woke than they’ve already have and now they’ve done it. And I absolutely hate that they’re going to ruin the series all for one showrunners selfish’s wins. First, they portray the Victorian era inaccurately by showing an abundance of multiple diverse races of people. Then they have annoying side plots and characters who aren’t canon in the book and do nothing to move the story forward. As fans, we forgave and we were willing to overlook these liberties because they kept the foundation of the original story intact. However, turning Francesca into a lesbian and Benedict into a bisexual man? Now these are liberties that we the fans can’t forgive or overlook. As a writer myself, I am strong advocate for keeping book-to-screen adaptions as accurate to the source material as possible. Will some changes need to be made sure? Sure, maybe a little changes, but this BS? I suspected that they were going to try and rope LGBT stuff into the series from the second that they showed Benedict have that little trust with the artist guy. Everyone tried to tell me that I was being paranoid and that the showrunners have to keep the romances the same. 😒 Yeah, right. I feel like there’s a time and place for everything. I believe that every story should have it’s story told and I believed there is a specific audience for specific stories. This is not that audience. There’s nothing wrong with diversity or inclusion, but there is something very wrong when you don’t give the audience what they want and completely change it to fit your narrative. And the showrunners better not act surprised is Bridgerton loses viewers after pulling a stunt like this. And I say this as mixed woman…respect the source material and if you really want to tell a certain story, then create a new show that is uniquely your own.
Get your eras correct. This was the Regency Period. Not Victorian. Queen Victoria wasn't even born yet. Secondly, the opera has been casting parts like this for years because its the voice that gets the job. Opera casting has been diverse for years, and I have never heard complaining.

Queen Charlotte is barely in the books, yet her character has brought such fun to these episodes! Color blind casting is a thing, just like being inclusive is. Giving us alternative viewpoints of what ifs-are both interesting and intriguing! Aren't you fortunate you can peel off and watch shows that are more consistent with your narrow view of the world? Many are not so fortunate to have such choice. Shonda seeks to change that! She is doing a brilliant job, too!

Anyone who doesn't have the ability to watch the media as an "inspired by" piece of entertainment shouldn't be watching it. Most book readers can't seem to do this. Comic book fans are equally guilty of this. I don't go back and read the books that inspired film I like, as the film has already affected how I view the characters. And I don't watch film based on my favorite books because I KNOW they will never live up to the stories I have in my own head. Why set yourself up for such disappointment? I would guess the amount of media that has successfully transitioned from print to film in a way that makes most everyone happy would be less than a fraction of a percent, yet here you are expecting your favorite book is going to be the one that magically is made exactly how you picture it in your head. If you love the book that much, go and read the book.
