      Hi! At 1:59 when the row is finished, chain 1, turn your work (like you're flipping a page in a book to the left), and do another row of single crochet stitches before continuing on (so you'll repeat 1:13 to 1:59 by working into the row below it). Once you made the base as deep as you want (I'll assume you made one more row), before you get to the other long side of your rectangle instead of chaining 1 at 2:04- slip stitch into loop(s) on the short end of the rectangle (so if you made 1 additional row beyond what I show in my video = 2 rows, then make 2 slip stitches on the short edge before working your long edge). Do that to the other short side when you get to it. Otherwise you won't have attached the short sides of your rectangular base to the wall/body of the bag. Good luck!

    • @noodleweaver
      @noodleweaver  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! If you use the same gauge thickness, it will look very similar. One suggestion when working with roving- handle it with care (when making it and especially when wearing it). Merino wool roving is so beautiful but it has a tendency to pill/shred. Good luck (if you do end up making it, I'd love to see how it turns out- feel free to share with me on instagram/tiktok @noodleweaver)!

    I love the color of this yarn. How much yarn do you need to make this? And approxmately how big is this bag? If I am going to make it I'd want it longer. but great job.

    • @noodleweaver
      @noodleweaver  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Ann! Thanks very much! You'll need about 2 pounds (or 1kg) of this jumbo weight yarn. My calculations estimate that's around 41 yards, but this yarn is sold by weight. The bag is about 10 inches tall by 13 inches wide. The handle height measures about 9 inches. It does have a bit of give in all directions. I've made a bigger version of this bag (approx 10"x17" wide) and it used about 3.3 pounds. Hope that helps you!

      @noodleweaver  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Hmm, I'm not sure. I've made a few of these and haven't had that issue. The only thing I can think of is to try making your tension tighter. Unless you mean that it is tapering in at the top (ie- smaller at the top than at the base)? In that case, make sure you haven't skipped any stitches. You should have the same number of stitches in each round. Hope that helps!

    Thanks!

    • @noodleweaver
      @noodleweaver  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Great question. You can make a bag with similar proportions/shape but it will be smaller than the one I made. To do this, when you make your foundation chain (at around 0:51) you can make a few less chains. Then continue on as normal working up to your desired height (saving some yarn for your straps). If you end up making it, please feel free to share with us how many chains you used for your foundation and what the final size is. Good luck!

    • @noodleweaver
      @noodleweaver  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! If you use a thinner yarn and follow the same directions (same # of chains and rounds etc) it will just be a smaller size than mine but the same shape. If you want it to be bigger, you can chain more (at around 01:00) to make your base wider and then keep going with the rest of the video. Hope that helps! Good luck!

      @@noodleweaver thank you! I’m doing this but it’s like shrinking I guess like getting narrower as I go up and Idk what to do

    • @noodleweaver
      @noodleweaver  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@serenasmithh Hi! It sounds like maybe stitches are getting skipped as you go up- fewer stitches in each round makes the bag narrower as you go up. I'd suggest counting the stitches in each row and making sure they are all the same number (using a safety pin as a marker can help you keep track). One other tip I can think of is to keep your tension as even as possible (tighter stitches will also make the bag narrower). Good luck!
