Good honest review…I’ve just ordered it and the router kit…my garage workshop has no power so all my tools are cordless…in the future I’ll certainly get a spare 2ah battery 🪫
Hi there, liked the video. I'm looking to buy a dremel but didn't know whether to to get the corded or cordless as I wondered if it lacked power and how long the battery lasted. Your video answered both of those questions so thanks for the frank review...... from a UK viewer.
Bought this year later battery died and bought a new bat which was not cheap. Then the charger died..went to corded and so far it's great and no bog down on power
The one I bought came with two batteries. The hanging loop on handle comes out pretty easy. Awsum tool! If I had two more batteries and chargers I would be set. Going to spend money on 4300 (corded) instead. Best of both worlds.
Most people buying cordless is for quick less then 10 min jobs. It takes longer to get the cords out and then back up then to just do most jobs with a cordless. I think if most the time you are using it that time is more then 30 get a corded but if you’re like me and just grinding off paint for a ground or cutting out sports for rocker switches and Panels a cordless is better.
I agree with this. My 3000 just gave out (after 10 years of use, mind you) so I figured it was time to look at a newer model. Since I mostly use it for short periods to trim plastic bits on projects the battery life seems like no biggie, but the benefit of not needing cords seems massive to me. I'm going to be missing my corded one though when it comes to my metalwork and polishing projects so I might just buy another 3000 as well. Best of both worlds.
It seems ridiculous to expect a battery powered rotary tool to last longer than 30 minutes, especially when using the flex shaft, the flex shaft adds resistance decreasing battery time. If it takes 1 hour to charge a battery, and a battery last 30 minutes, buy another battery and your complaint has been rectified. If you're working in a shop, you should be using corded, it seems to me, particularly if using the flex shaft. A flaw???
Thanks man. I know that my M18 4.5" - 6" braking grinder eats batteries like no other tool I have ever used. I wish that I had gotten a corded. Very important to know about the battery life!!!
Yah man I travel all the time there is no way I will ever carry a a corded tool 💁🏻♂️ Never in my life ever again will I ever own tool with a cord 🤧 I don’t care if I have to carry around 4 batteries 🔋 there is no corded tool ever worth owning after year 2010 💁🏻♂️
2000+w angle grinders, 1000+w powerdrills, vacuum cleaner (sometimes very important tool!), excentric rotary sandpaper-tool (do not know what it is called in english), sawzall
Never owned an actual Dremel brand rotary tool but many people say the quality has tanked over the years. Can anyone confirm/deny or just give their experience?
The Dremel battery is only 1.5 amp-hours. A Bosch battery is 2 amp hours and fits perfectly if you pop off the top clip that holds it in place -- though you might have to secure it with tape if you do a lot of vertical work.
TKS , YES THE HANGER THING I LOST IT , IT ALWAYS GOT IN THE WAY. I USE IT ON MY RAILROAD, I BOUGHT THE 90 DEG. I PUT ON THE FLEX SHAFT, I HELD IT ON WITH DUCK TAPE. BECAUSE ITS MENT TO BE SCREW ON THE MAIN PART. IT WORKS .
I don't know why, but mine (also an 8220) randomly changes speed on its own. When i turn it on, on the lowest setting, it just ramps up and down occasionally. I've looked around on the web and haven't found anything on the topic.
Great Review! Thank you. I’m looking to drill a small hole in glass pendants. It seems the dremel or it’s pretenders is the tool of choice of glass artists using a special bit. You have to drill under a bit of water to prevent overheating & shattering the glass so I thought the cordless would be the way to go. BUT, I get very impatient with batteries that need recharging all the time. Do you have any insight as to Battery Life (not length of charge)? I’ve had such bad luck with portable sweepers & dustbusters losing their ability to charge I’m really leary. Thoughts?
I bought this and regret i should have bought the Milwaukee version they are identical except you buy into the m12 line with one and buying extra batteries doesn’t feel like a waste with the Milwaukee version
I have a bunch of m12 stuff because of the stubby impact. But I had this dremel before I got any of that. I honestly love this one and I'd rather buy another batter for it than switch to the m12 rotary. I really wish I could use my m12 batteries in it, though.
Donny Sanner I have both the cordless Dremel and Milwaukee. Yes, you can use the wand on the Milwaukee. That’s what I do because I only have 1 battery for the dremel.
how do the two compare? would you recommend switching to the milwaukee if all my other tools are m12? The dremel looks more ergonomic to me and I like the speed control better, but I've never tried the milwaukee before.@@treebossmike8818
@@ToolReviewZone thanks. Im a newbie looking at my first rotary tool. I wouldn't be cutting much metal i think. So the non shaft for cutting metal because you can apply more pressure?
So basically if your doing quick dremel tasks that the lack of cord is the advantage go cordless. If you need more constant work go corded. Or just get both hahahaha.
I own this tool. My issue is the exact same as you with the battery. It comes with a 1.5AH and dies quickly then takes forever to charge. You can order a 2.0AH online for about $35 but that’s it. No other batteries that I know of. Other than that it’s a good tool.
why buy all those little kit there are some kits bigger kits on amazon for $16.99 with a bunch of things in there itll get u started at least 208 piece set ijs
Mine gets too hot too quick (the heat will burn your palms because it comes out the vents right where you hold it) and shuts down. The battery only lasts 30 mins which interrupts your job. It’s VERY loud and can be heard by your neighbors. Don’t buy this and waste your money. There are much better quality Dremel out there.
Would have been nice if Bosch made the12volt batteries from their system fit in those if you didn't know Bosch owns drama you take care of your wife and kids man will see you on your next one RTC it supposed to kiss at the watch it now take care
I am so glad I found this video! Made me decide I did get this tool with the extra battery and the Flex shaft. Thanks for the review!
Mine takes less than an hour to charge. I do have an extra battery though. But I personally don't use it for several hours at a time. Love this tool!
The same here. But I can use it for an hour or two depending on usage.

Tnx bruv, that is very helpful information. Nearly buy one, its good i saw your review.

Thank you for the honest review. Looking like everyone else for the 4300 (4k) vs 8000 (8200)
Good job with this review. It helped me to make final desicion. Thanks.
As a professional use it for last minute touch ups with a bag of q tips and a hair of selected colors .
The one I bought came with two batteries. The hanging loop on handle comes out pretty easy. Awsum tool! If I had two more batteries and chargers I would be set. Going to spend money on 4300 (corded) instead. Best of both worlds.
Cheers for getting right to it!

These people aren't that bright..
Why are you so critical? This is very useful information.

Amazon now has a 3.0 ah battery for $23 + change for more use.
You can make it easier to open the hanger by sanding down those little tabs holding it on both sides of the tool.

What was the corded tool in 2010 that was the end all be all of corded tools?
Nice Review !
Always use a corded tool so you don’t get mad when you can’t get power?

What's a ported dremel
I think you've convinced me off of cordless.. thank you!
Your welcome thin. Thanks for the comment
Till the battery dies and the charger.not to mention way less pwr than corded

Hi mate, does the flex shaft fit in the case?
Has anyone tried to determine if the flexible shat reduces battery life?
Are they actually selling that item without saying how long the battery lasts tisk tisk…
Can you please tell me what is the power rating for the charger?
does the charger (US version) support 220v-240v input?
There are chargers for all parts of the world.
Using the flex wand is why your battery doesn't last that long.

Hmmm, thought it was just me that it was happening to. Thanks for the feedback!
Mine is also changing speed on its own
That's not cool

It doesn't always happen though, it just does it randomly when it feels like it
it's strange, but it still works fine

Is there any reason why you would not want to use a flexible shaft?
Cutting metal I only use the tool. Everything else I use the shaft
@@ToolReviewZone thanks. Im a newbie looking at my first rotary tool. I wouldn't be cutting much metal i think. So the non shaft for cutting metal because you can apply more pressure?
The one down side to flex shaft is if you get two rough with it and over torque the head, the inner shaft will break.
