Well its how it comes from factory, they probably just want to demonstrate how capable it is in stock form, out of factory. But of course, you can put on much beefier off-road tires and smaller wheels.
Impressive capabilities that el G-Wagen provides. Even more impressive that Oslo commune approved that type of off-roading right on the top of Holmenkollen. Where was MDG? 😁
Great Video, cant wait until you get one and test it, the 4 axial motors make it really interesting. You should add "G580 electric" to the title as G580 alone could confuse some to think its the combustion model G wagon.
There are many YT of Teslas with water over the bonnet and all of them made it. I live inland Australia with a Model S , it has seen a lot of dirt roads (dry and flooded). 400.000 km later it still looks and drives well 1st battery and 16% degradation. The cars are very good but the company occasionally really sucks.
Mercedes also doesn't need a special wade mode, which takes a couple minutes to engage where the battery is pressurized, and the air suspension put on the highest setting...you are limited to 30 min and can't drive over a certain speed. All that in the Cybertruck just to still have an inferior wading depth to a G-class wading depth it has at all times without any special mode.
Given that it has a live axle and a ladder frame i don't think it is as comfortable as an EQE SUV. It has a different purpose though, namely offroad capability and - just as important - durability.
What is under that miniature spare tire cover, Bjørn? Some storage? A donut spare? An actual donut? Is it just a place to out the sticker with the number of road-side assistantance, so it doesn't get dirty?

In Canada and Australia the first off grid solar powered fast chargers have been installed. Also because of regen the consumption off road can be remarkably little.
