How is it fair that Belgium, a team that has won four matches and has 8 points, has been relegated from the VNL while Korea is still in the competition at the bottom of the table with 0 wins and 0 points? The FIVB need to get rid of this “core team” and “challenger team” bs and make it fair for every team. Belgium still did an amazing job and I’m sure they’ll fight their way back to the VNL.
I believe they sure can win at challenger cup but "core team" bs is so stupid🤬

@@Veronique365 Exactly, whichever team is at the bottom of the ranking table after the competition should be relegated. It should be as simple as that. Why are they putting teams into different classes that get treated differently?
最後の日本戦は2セット目と4セット目は難がありましたが、3番の絶対的なエース以外でも得点を取れていたのと、ブロックも11とまずまずあったので、日本勝てたのは決してまぐれではないですね。今年は韓国以外は全てのチームが3勝以上しているハイレベルな戦いでしたね。8チーム中1チームしか出られないので、入れ替え戦での戦いも間違いなく厳しくなりますが、3番の大エースとそれ以外の選手の底上げが出来れば、来年も出場出来るとは思いますね！

Japan started from being undefeated for two weeks and now they struggled this week. I guess, this is part of their strategy as they are fully aware that whatever happens on the 3rd week they are, for sure, going through the next round. Still rooting for Japaaaannn!! Gambatte!

Japan is always an amazing team for me from Thailand.
Watching Japan play I can see how hard their people are. they only lose in height but their agility in saves is commendable.

As what we are used to seeing with Japan, they are sacrificing power over speed with low, fast sets but clearly, it is not as effective right now as it was before. This match is a testament to that, with the other teams stepping up their floor defence. While I agree that fast and low sets are still a good strategy for the not so tall team, they should also learn how utilize the opponent's blockers to their advantage and they need to make sure that every pass is exceptional so they can run their perfect play. Out of system plays don't do them any good.
Speed can only get you so far but when they facr a taller and also quicker and athletic lineup then their speed means nothing. USA have the best combination of Speed, Length and Power, My personal opinion on Brazil and Italy can really match to them pretty well in the Final round.
Faster/lower balls do not sacrifice power that's stupid.
Japan just isn't a powerful offense.

But of course, it will depend on the player's technique. So how do you give your spikers exactly that? By giving them higher, slower sets. Why do you think all fastest spikes recorded were made by outside hitters and not middle blockers? The point is, lower faster sets sacrifices power, even if it is just a bit.
I do agree Japan just isn't built to be on par when it comes to power due to their physically limitations, that's why they compensate with speed and wit. But again, it is not as effective as it was before as teams are improving their defence.

By your logic, middle hits would be soft and easy to stop.

This is so unfair that Belgium relegated to the challenger cup instead of South Korea. VNL should abolish the "core team" system as it has no sense at all. At the same time, the declared core teams dont put so much effort in playing the game knowing that they are automatically qualified for the next year competition. VNL should reform their system to make it more simple and fair.
The reason there are core teams is because they pay more to secure their spots in the VNL. If other teams want to play, they gotta pay.
south korean government strongly support their culture and sports. they paid enormous money to Netflix to promote BTS and successful. same as football world cup in south korea.

Well, I'm disappointed with them, they started this VNL so strong, but they aren't consistent as strong teams like the USA, Brazil, and Italy.

I think Japan got burnt out for the past 2 weeks and other teams figured out their constant defense. Japan is not known for power but for consistency. Time will tell. It’s possible new players are being put in. Good job Belgium woo!

The legacy of Kim Yeon Koung giving back to S.Korea team was huge and after her national retirement, she mediately helps the teammate by "core team", but i think the law will be changed at last, we need 12 true big team in VNL !

I think it’s because everyone has a high expectation on Japan with 8 wins in week 1 and 2 that makes this result a bit underwhelming. Still, both teams gave an exciting match.

Always latter part of match. The opponent team of Japan loses stamina, so they do need to play harder for first 12 points of the set.
japan's defense is insane, maybe the best in the world, but their lack of height and attack is really starting to show. taller teams hit over their block all the time and they don't have the ability to win a point with an unstoppable attack if they get a good set.
If only there is height limit considering the average height of the asians, then the game would be fair.. Japan shows hardwork and stamina inspite the gigantic foes!
