It has a LONG way to go to finally be rivaled. Best player rivalry in sports history IMO. Look what happened once Manning left too, Brady cake-walked his way to Super Bowls.
The first thing Tom Brady ever said to Manning was, "Hello, I am Tom Brady". Manning replied, "I know who you are". In recounting the meeting Tom said, "cool Manning knows who I am".
Yes, I live in New England, and remember that debate at the time. We now know how deeply unhappy Drew was about that situation, and every competitor would probably feel the same. I’m sure Wally Pipp was unhappy when an injury resulted in Lou Gehrig permanently replaced him. But publicly, Bledsoe handled it very well, and acted as the professional he was. But he did play an important role, one that many people who weren’t paying attention probably forgot, or weren’t aware of. In the AFC Championship game that postseason in Pittsburgh (where the Steelers were the heavy favorite), Brady got hurt, and Bledsoe came in, and played a key role in winning that game. Bledsoe wasn’t angry with Brady, who visited Bledsoe at Massachusetts General Hospital, as Bledsoe was fortunate to survive what really was a critical injury, a sheared artery. That injury could have been fatal. Bledsoe was really upset with Bill Belichick, the Head Coach, because he felt that Belichick had promised him an opportunity to win back his job as starting QB. But Bledsoe was silent about this for the remainder of the season, and never attempted to sabotage the team. I don’t know of many fans who have a negative opinion of Bledsoe, and anyone who follows the team knows that he (along with Bill Parcells, and Robert Kraft) played a vital role in keeping the Patriots in New England. They very nearly relocated. Fan interest was very low in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s when the franchise was a disaster both on and off the field, from ownership on down. Collectively, those three men saved the franchise, and in 1993, with the hiring of Parcells, and the drafting of Bledsoe, fan support surged, and the record of sellouts or near sellouts, began. Kraft purchased the team the following year, but he got that opportunity because he already owned the stadium and property, and the Patriots were in an ironclad lease which prevented previous owner,James Busch Orthwein, from relocating the team to St. Louis. If Bledsoe had a flaw as a QB, it’s that he had a tendency to let the perfect be the enemy of the good. At times, instead of taking what the opponent would give you (a shorter, but higher probability of a completed pass), he would tend to look for the long pass, and thus held onto the ball a little longer, which would result in a sack or an interception. The difference wasn’t huge between the release time between Bledsoe and Brady, but it was enough for even me to notice it. So you can be sure that Belichick was aware of it. He’s not omniscient, but he doesn’t miss very much. This tendency of Bledsoe was what ultimately cost him his job as starting QB when he was reunited with Parcells in Dallas just a few years later. Just before halftime in Dallas, with the Cowboys near or in the red area, Bledsoe improvised on a key play, threw to the opposite side of the field than the play called for, and the result was an interception, that I think the intercepting player ran all the way for a touchdown. Parcells benched Bledsoe at halftime, and I don’t think he ever had an opportunity to get his job back. I remember reading somewhere that when the two were in New England, early in Bledsoe’s career, Parcells would stand behind Bledsoe during practice, with a stopwatch, shouting out each second until Bledsoe released the football. And Bledsoe may have been irritated by this, but he was definitely at his best when Parcells was his Head Coach. That likely was why Bledsoe wanted to play for Dallas when Parcells was coaching there. Having said that, looking back after that incredible two decades, and realizing Brady’s greatness, Bledsoe was still a VERY good Quarterback, for whom we in New England were fortunate to have, and he did play a key role, both on the field (though that was brief), and off the field, in helping the Patriots win that first Super Bowl Championship. He’ll always be appreciated here.

once Manning's neck issues started, THAT put the damper on, and brought an end to the great duels. the only reason the Broncos won that last SB was their Defense was lights out.

Video Title: First Ever Brady vs. Manning Matchup! Week 3, 2001 FULL GAME By Uploader: NFL 1:38:49 Tom passes for 43 fat yards in the 1st half but somehow begins the 2nd half up 20-0...we immediately see the single most unforced fumble in football history from Colt #32. 1:46:03 Insanely, the same player immediately commits _another_ totally unforced turnover on the Colts next possession. 1:48:06 Colt #21 shows how _easy it is_ to deflect an incoming pass when you actually look back to see it. 1:52:16 Patriot #91 demonstrates an actual, competitive pass rush: He corners in tightly toward the QB and applies pressure. Haha NO... He doesn't run 5 yards _beyond_ the QB, does he? That's only for when Tom drops back to pass haha. 1:53:34 Now the right Patriot edge rusher corners tightly into Peyton's pocket applying instant pressure. As we see, this is something a defense will do all the time when they aren't trying to let the offense score. Peyton gets his pass off and the Colt receiver #86 seems to hurl himself out-of-bounds to avoid converting the 3rd down. Announcers can see that this was a non-effort to get the feet in-bounds. It actually looks like an effort is being made to avoid landing in bounds. 1:56:10 Tom's sister could quarterback this game for the Patriots! It's so rigged that literally _she could win it!_ (I am not even kidding.) 1:57:32 The Colt's left edge rusher corners very roundly and ends up 3 yards behind Tom. 1:58:47 Remember the Colt who tried not to hit Tom in the first half? Here we see him ignoring an easy interception. #20 is in the right spot as Tom over throws his intended receiver...but makes _no effort_ to catch the ball! 2:00:28 Now Tom throws at Colt #20 on a 3rd down...unsurprisingly, #20 seems to allow the catch! He refuses to reach out with his arms to deflect. 2:02:27 Tom actually experiences pressure from up the middle for the very first time! Unsurprisingly, Tom makes a horrendous play...but Colt #41 cannot intercept this duck? Tom fails constantly when pressured from up the middle and that's why his games are usually rigged to disallow it. 2:02:57 The broadcast presents a list of 0-2 NFL teams that may or may not make the playoffs....but the Patriots _are not on the list!_ Haha! Clever way of admitting that the Patriots ARE going to make the playoffs. 2:15:25 Colt right edge rusher #92 goes way too far past Tom on 3rd & 11. Floating Colt LB #52 allows the pass to go right by him at 2:15:48 Brady edging *dangerously close* to 100 yards passing. 😹 2:16:07 Colt #52 repeats his fake tackling that we saw at 39:01 as Tom's humble screen-pass becomes a big play. Defenders always find a way to *miss that first tackle* to help Tom along haha! This time #52 goes with the 'double-vision' fake tackle technique...he hits the wrong #32! 🥴 2:16:30 CORRECTION! #52 literally goes there again with the 'turn-style' haha. 2:16:55 Yeah no, Colt #53 _can not possibly fail_ to even lay a finger on the Patriot ball carrier, here. Not real. 2:24:39 Colts again fail to catch a routine pass and create another unforced turnover. Colts then allow a 'pick-6' due to total lack of effort to pursue the Patriot returning the pick. 2:36:04 Patriot #25 looks back and deflects the incoming pass. 2:36:24 As we see, there's really _nothing hard about it._ But if Tom had thrown this pass, the ball would have either been caught for a TD or hit the back of the defender's helmet. 2:39:01 You may be surprised that the Colts score on 4th & 16...But I wasn't too surprised. I had noticed that patriot edge-rushers were running _too far_ behind Peyton during this drive. Then they 'suicide blitz' on 4th down to give Peyton an easy TD pass. The over/under was 45 points and this TD put the point total over. 2:43:41 Haha! Tom goes 3 for 3 making defenders miss screen tackles. _How does Tom do it?_ 2:46:36 Tom somehow uses his Jedi powers to convince Colt #20 not to interfere with his arm as he throws this screen haha. #20 makes a nice unblocked rush at Tom...only to stare at Tom as he releases his pass haha! In a real game this would have been a fumble or a disrupted pass attempt. 2:46:58 On replay we see Tom roll into the blitzing #20 yet somehow *still* make his cute little screen pass! We can see #20 actually halt himself to avoid hitting Tom or grabbing his arm. SUMMERY: Yeah no, you cannot win a game 44-13 by completing 13 passes for 168 yards and 0 TDs. Ummm......no😐 Maybe.....maybe the 1972 Dolphins could have propped-up a QB that effectively but...Haha, yeah no this Patriot squad ain't all that.
I don’t know about all that, Belicheck taught Tommy a lot , Tommy even states that. The man and the kid were both football fanatics, I believe if Tommy ended up anywhere else without Bills guidance he would not have reached his own goals, just my thoughts. And I believe Brady knows this after his Tampa experience ✌️✌️✊✊

once Manning's neck issues started, THAT put the damper on, and brought an end to the great duels. the only reason the Broncos won that last SB was their Defense was lights out.
@@ErdoBoyPats52Yeah that 2015 team was scary, I'd put them up against some of the top teams of the past, like the 03 Pat's, they were lights out also.

@@marksprinkle who cares? Life was still good. No COVID. No social Media.
I love the commentary breaks😂
The difference in style of play is crazy. I love how they have opened up the field of play for the offense but I miss this slightly more violent version of the NFL.
Cox would have been ejected on the very first play with today rules.
48:00 this has me dying 😭
Broadcasting crew don't know they are live on TV 😂😂
So weird to hear the "behind the scenes" with the commentators. Lol Gus Johnson @ 40:18.
One of the greatest rivalries ever.
Love the commentary!
Brady's picture at 3:24 looks like he's human Shrek 😂
😂😂😂
It does 😂
Now that Brady is retired they should do TB12 Tuesdays on this channel and upload more of his best games over the off season!
The announcers made me wish for commercials.
Young Gus Johnson tho
Said no one about Gus Johnson ever…….
Tom Brady & Tua Tagovailoa have one thing in common.. both were sacked on their first start , first play lol
Bradys beginning to his legacy.
Long time season ticket holder who had to miss this game to attend a christening but that's ok....saw many other memorable Pats wins in the new stadium.
Always remember Tom Brady took a sack on his very first NFL snap.
why
He got sacked 600+ more times, that is also a record, babe.
after that first play I am sure whole lot of NE was thinking... dear lord, it's like Sisson all over again.
That wasn't his first snap he played the year before against the lions just didn't start
I love hearing what they're talking about during breaks.
Edit: Can we get some coffee and hot dogs up to the booth for these guys? Is that too much to ask?
Gotta love the full back dive on 1st and 10
1:50:00 i like the way how they act like we do with our friends when they aren't on air
This appeared in the afc championship 2 times:
38-34
7-45
Pats vs Colts or Brady vs Manning?
Don't forget the 3rd one, 14-24 (2003)
2000 DRAFT: ROUND 6 PICK 199 - LAST QB PICKED IN THAT DRAFT
Brady's first play of the game was a sack for a loss of 12---CANT STARTLE THE
G.O.A.T.
PATS WIN 44-13 AND EVENTUALLY SB 36 THAT YEAR FOR A TOTAL OF 7 SB WINS AND 10 SB APPEARANCES FOR BRADY--STILL AINT DONE EITHER!
Watching in 2022...if today's rules were in place for this game...helmet to helmet, unnecessary roughness, roughing the QB, concussion protocol, taunting, etc...whole different game!!
The studio in-house audio in this is hilarious.
This is the game that started all the grudge match pats vs colts games...the hits in this game were emergency room worthy
The broadcasters saying woo momma when the camera was focused on two women and even scratched out the guys head and said this guys ruining our shot is absolutely hilarious
And then "those are Brady's sisters??"
love to know what Brady's hair system is. He may have made a deal with the devil to be great at football, marry a supermodel, and find the best hair system in history
@1:57:55 Brady already beginning to show his amazing leadership skills
So refreshing watching real football
Tom Brady literally on him since day one
I know it is very windy but the stats at 1:30:30 kind of crazy.
bryan cox.great player bears, jets, dolphins and pats

Maybe they cut other stuff they said, lol. xD
Video Title: First Ever Brady vs. Manning Matchup! Week 3, 2001 FULL GAME
By Uploader: NFL
1:38:49 Tom passes for 43 fat yards in the 1st half but somehow begins the 2nd half up 20-0...we immediately see the single most unforced fumble in football history from Colt #32.
It's so rigged that literally _she could win it!_ (I am not even kidding.)
1:57:32 The Colt's left edge rusher corners very roundly and ends up 3 yards behind Tom.
2:02:57 The broadcast presents a list of 0-2 NFL teams that may or may not make the playoffs....but the Patriots _are not on the list!_
Haha! Clever way of admitting that the Patriots ARE going to make the playoffs.
2:15:25 Colt right edge rusher #92 goes way too far past Tom on 3rd & 11. Floating Colt LB #52 allows the pass to go right by him at 2:15:48
Brady edging *dangerously close* to 100 yards passing. 😹
2:16:07 Colt #52 repeats his fake tackling that we saw at 39:01 as Tom's humble screen-pass becomes a big play. Defenders always find a way to *miss that first tackle* to help Tom along haha!
This time #52 goes with the 'double-vision' fake tackle technique...he hits the wrong #32! 🥴
2:16:30 CORRECTION!
_How does Tom do it?_
2:46:36 Tom somehow uses his Jedi powers to convince Colt #20 not to interfere with his arm as he throws this screen haha.
Ummm......no😐
Maybe.....maybe the 1972 Dolphins could have propped-up a QB that effectively but...Haha, yeah no this Patriot squad ain't all that.
Damn bro. Sarcastic much?
I love that after he gets sacked on the first play he claps his hands as if to say *let's go*
Something about the atmosphere of this game. Happened after the September 11 attacks.
I miss the days when I turned the tv on and this was playing. How has time flown by so so fast. It sucks.
Brady took this team of scrubs with a nobody as head coach to the Super Bpwl and won. He was always and remains the greatest athlete in the world.
In the world? I think you mean in history.
Pats have dominated Indy going back to the 90's !!!
Who's here after the preseason game comparing Tom Brady game to Mac Jones's game
You can see then-under-construction and yet-to-be-named later Gillette Stadium at 1:30 in the background
1:50:00 HAHAHA Theres no way you'd see something like this in todays age, the NFL would be strung up!
I beg your pardon, but this was in week 4 of the 2001 Season, not week 3. Week 3 was the Drew Bledsoe got hurt game.
Not sure how the NFL keeps their records, but wasn’t 1 week effectively postponed to the end of the regular season due to 9-11?
@@TheMrJourneyer Week TWO. The MNF game for week 1, between the Giants and Broncos, was the last game of week 1. It was played on September 10th, a few hours before the first plane hit the north tower.
@@northstarpokeshipper2148 yup! I did say 1 week, not Week 1. I wasn’t sure which week was postponed. Thanks for the extra detail!
Brady gets all the credit for the great defenses that allowed him to be a game manager back then
Its annoying Brady gets all the credit for the dynasty when The Defense and multiple other players are equally as responsible
Didn't realize game managers led the league in TDs which Brady did a year later
Thank you for this.
I'm going to miss Tom man..
This is football
Ok was the commentating this raw or is this a specific copy cause there are a lot of hot mic moments
his first ever start.... stinking awsome.
The commentators were the worst when they tought the sound was off... dirty dudes
You can actually hear these dudes clearly snorting coke during each station break and can easily discern the effects of the high according to their demeanor. They're buzzin man
Ikr. They kept cutting to the Brady sisters multiple times and cat calling them.
Mostly Nancy tho
On this day, The GOAT was born
Crazy how how their first matchup were AFC east divisional rivals one year before the AFC south was made when the Houston Texans was founded
After watching this, I'm so glad they actually go to commercial!!
Little did they all know they were watching the G.O.A.T. start his amazing career...
So this Brady guy is taking over a sad sack franchise from a qb with a penchant for large numbers of both tds and ints with a coach no one believes in in the middle of a national crisis.
I mean no way that will ever happen again.....
