Here in the Philippines, there's a superstitious belief that if a dog howls like that in the middle of the night and there's no ambulance siren present, it's either the dog saw a ghost or the dog saw the spirit of a loved one that is still alive but is about to passed away.

Why do you think they have German Shepherds get used for polices because they are here to help. my husky always howls at sirens because he wants to help. If your dog startes howling at a siren and it gets close they will start crying. To help your dog not to freak out all you gotta do is pet him to sleep if that doesn't help then you either play with he or she or the best way is to take him outside and for your dog to know the police is gone or the ambulance is gone.

Wrong. Dogs howl because they believe it is another “pack” communicating with them. Believing they are in pain is one of the biggest myths.
