I like your attitude regarding things that are out of your control, you just seem to accept them and make a plan to tackle them and move forward. Wishing you much success in the New Year.
Thanks, you too!
I paid off my house in 6 years instead if 30 and my Credit Score is still in the 800's. I just use a Credid card for everything and pay it off every month.
You’re a very impressive person in extremely difficult circumstances. I wish you all the best
Thank you! You too
Sounds complicated. I lost everything during pandemic too. Was patient advocate for elderly. You are still young and energetic and I wish you the best❤
Thank you, you too!
I enjoy your honestly and ability to roll with the punches. Good luck with your plan.
Thank you!
I'm in the same boat. Getting rid of my apartment and utilities would put 1800 towards my debt.
I could pay my debt off in 24 months.
Yep it frees up so much money!
Homesteading and debt free in 5 years is my goal.
Totally agree that seeing the “ before” of debt is much more educational and useful. Thank you
Welcome!
I hear you about student loans
I suppose renting your home out,can get quite spendy. My parents owned a house to rent out,and i remember them getting lots of calls,of something that needed to be fixed or bought.
New Subscriber here. I am so excited to be here supporting and cheering you along your journey. Great video, so true.
Welcome aboard!
Hello Elizabeth! You're a natural at producing these detailed and informative vids! Good job!
Thank you so much!
Different ways of looking at debt for sure and people will adopt different strategies to meet their needs. If that was me, I'd flog the house to erase all of my debt and start over. I'd get myself a new mortgage for a similarly priced property, rent it out at and sink a load of my newly released income into paying off the mortgage every month. So basically, you could pay off your mortgage in double quick time. Then you'd own your own house outright, still have all of your disposable income and be living like a queen at a nice young age. Best wishes, Des
To my mind, the best thing is to get rid of debt asap.
Yep everyone has a different strategy
An older house means lots of repairs.
I watched this video after all of your recent videos. I'm very pleased to tell your past self that you managed to get that Subaru :-)
Thank you!! :)
Great job on the video, informative!
Thanks!
I have one unsecured loan. 3 1/2 years ago, I had twice the debt and no money in savings. Today I have half the debt and my savings is greater than my debt. Living in my truck and not paying rent for the last 3 1/2 years made the difference.
Yep that makes sense!
Thanks!
Thank you!
Wow, beyond words!
You are definitely lucky that you’re able to borrow. Such a blessing even if it looks terrible on a spreadsheet
Agreed, having a good credit rating is a huge asset
Thanks so much for talking about these things! You're right that there's a lot of cultural shame around finances and debt, so it's refreshing to see someone willing to have this discussion. As someone who also loves using Excel, I appreciate your use of spreadsheets. Do you have templates you're able and willing to share?
Thank you for saying that! Hm I don’t have templates (good idea though!) but actually I use Google Sheets now! I like it because easy to collaborate via the cloud
Interesting video. Sounds like you have a good plan.
Thanks!
Thanks for this video. It was different and educational.
Glad you liked it!
Wow, that’s a lot of credit card debt. Good luck.
I write down every month for my bills, and now I am keeping track every month and can't wait until my charge accounts will be paid off. My phone and car insurance is just one of those things like phone and insurance goes away only when it's canceled. I think you have a good idea to do spreadsheets, and keeping track. I have to do some type of job to earn some cash.
Makes sense! Yes I find that tracking is very helpful for me!
Saying this from experience. Beware of saying that you don’t have credit card debt. You do! It’s been converted to what you call “various flat rate loans,” totaling around $100K, $1000/month payment which most/all of that is from credit card debt (assuming based on what you shared). Now, don’t start using the cards again and rack those up. It’s easy to do when you have the mindset that “I don’t have any credit card debt.” 😊 Been there, living that--my mortgage is not paid off because of this (consolidated card, camper, and an another real estate down payment, ug!) and I want to club myself!
Thanks for sharing your experience with debt!
Just tell me plz the best place to sleep, female 63? I so want this lifestyle, so tired of pay high rent. Thanks from Tennessee! I have no debt.
Hi I did a video about that! Where to Sleep Discreetly in Your Car || Episode 3 || The Living in Your Car Podcast

This is the life for most of the new generation soon.
Thank you for a great video and for coaching and inspiring us to win in the balance sheet of life. Just wondering why you didn’t sign up for balance transfers which are 0% interest for about 15 months or so, giver or take, instead of a flat rate loan?
Ah I actually did that first -- worked great for a while! But they all expired so I went with the flat-rate loan.
I wish everyone here the best of luck.
that said, eat the rich, our red blue fight is only a distraction.
💜
Good topic. Watching ,may I ask what you do for work? Cause it must be difficult to bathe. Remember bankruptcy is a one time option. I did in 2005. No credit card cause I can't have cause I spend.
I’m a lawyer. Ah bathing is easy - I shower at the gym (planet fitness)
What are you going to do for winter months? I'm thinking I'm going to be homeless, and I will live in my car. It's going to be a pain in the butt... literally.
are you able to use all your degrees?
I don't "winter" anywhere -- fall/winter/spring in my favorite time to travel!
Do you tell your insurance company that you live in your car? Does the rate increase because of the risk of everything you own is in the car?
So no I did not tell them - it’s different if you do an actual conversion (adding electrical, plumbing, etc) but really I just have stuff in a car. Insurance only covers a certain amount in a car anyway and typically has a limit on stuff like computers (mine are covered by my business insurance). I do have insurance on my storage unit stuff, too
Ok. Good to know if I do this in 2 years. My son has to graduate from high school first. He is thinking of coming out to explore with me before he settles down to work ..he has a good savings right now at 16.
If you live in a vehicle you're going to have to invest money in things that are necessary items . So unless you have money you will need to borrow it from somewhere to purchase these items. That's a reality.
Thats why I'm doing car life, because I need to pay this crap off.
I hear you!
Well, when you own a house, you do have to invest money for repairs.
True that
