BRO! you saved my life!!!! I couldn't find anything that would help my BIOS read my additional M2 ssd until I found this little vid. You are a rockstar! I can't believe more tutorials don't include that tip you just gave! Whew... over an hour trying to figure it out and you solved the problem in 3 mins! HUGE THANK YOU!!
PS. It did disable my PCIe Wifi adaptor in the Express slot... but moving that adaptor to a lower 16bit slot of my board (so its not sharing with the M2) was a good work around.
Some motherboards with multiple m.2 slots will only allow one of them to be used as a boot drive. Check your user manual first, and if its a second hand board you can find the manual of the manufacturers site.
@snoweirhawk2442 I ended up having to hard reset and reinstall windows with only a ssd plugged in. Apparently if your using a hard drive, some are too old and the pc formats the pc so it won't recognize ssd's cause it's litteritally too old to do so

M.2 mode was not in the options so I tried disabling ( wait for ‘F1’ if error ) option under boot configuration and it worked to some extent meaning I still get the POST screen but after 2 to 3 secs it boots to windows !
I just figured out how to solve that POST screen. Just enable CSM and disable any overclocking. Save and exit Bios. Then go into Bios again and press F5 for default settings. Save and exit again. That fixed the problem. It apparently doesn’t like me using the X.M.P Ram overclocking.
@@PenPineappleApplePen007 Oh wow ! To be honest I do not mind that POST screen as long as it does boot to windows and I wouldn’t sacrifice overclocking DDR5 ram sticks for this simple error (which is not affecting anything at the moment at least) to be fixed. btw thank you for sharing the solution
@@r1ghty841 I figured out that it was my RAM sticks that was in the wrong slots. It should be in A2 and B2. After I did that the XMP profile worked and everything is better.
2024 Thanks... I had 2 ASUS Z97 Hero Maximus VII boards with i7-4790k and i5-4690k loading Windows 10 on both... either would pick up the M.2s .... one was a 500GB Samsung 970 EVO Plus.... 2nd was a 1TB WD Black SN770... had to do this a few times but got both to work... Thanks again :)

I also was having this issue, I ended up just giving up and switching the slot the m.2 was plugged into. Went from the slot above the gpu/ below cpu and switched it to the slot under the gpu. Hope it helps.

Guys I fixed it. I had Intel storage boost on... I forgot the acronym but it was in bios. My suggestion is default or cmos bios and boot to see it is normal. If good then carefully watch out for the Intel storage boost in bios. Wholetime I thought it was just a Intel boost tech 🤣

@@ElusiveIRL i contacted asus support and they said only devise that are on their QVL list of the product can only be used. What a dumb thing cz samsung ssd are the best and they dont have a single Samsung product on their QVl list.

my 2014 h97 motherboard didn't have those options in the BIOS. They didn't support NVME but after BIOS updates I found the options and it works now. If you have old motherboards check for BIOS updates :)
I’m using ASUS bios too but I don’t have this option… I’m so confused on what to do. I have two systems, one with the other type of ssd and this new one with an m.2. When I put it into either, I get directed to bios immediately with no way around it. It won’t recognize as something that’s bootable, and when I DO have other bootable drives, it doesn’t make those a priority and I can’t enter anyway. My HP bios looks nothing like yours but something I did trying to emulate your steps caused my boot drive to be recognized. I wish I had taken video to record what I did!
@krol9181 the best I can recall is all I was able to do was change the boot order, our bios looks nothing like the one in the video. Also the legacy bios boot order did not match the UEFI, so I changed it to do so making the original drive first. After that the operating system on the original 256 gig drive was detected again and there was nothing on the cloned drive. That was strange as the process which I followed to the letter, was completed. I them went to another video using a free trial of paid software to re-clone the rescued 256 gig drive onto the terabyte drive that had nothing on it. It works fine, what a relief!

What to do if the computer shows no options on the boot priority list and every restart is stuck on opening the bios?
Go to boot option and select csm and make sure boot device Uefi and legacy oprom is selected . Worked for mine but still makes me want to go to bios

This would be a option in the bios after getting into the bios you should find a setting that allows you to change from RAID to AHCI.

If you're still having trouble with this after the video, use a flash drive to update your bios. It will correct all of the settings.

I updated while troubleshooting, so this is the newest bios update. It doesn't do it automatically, you have to manually update
