I had one of these Gootium bags for eight years before it started wearing out (2013-2021), and then I got my second one. Love them both. It IS the same one from Hawkeye, appreciated seeing that... Fixed the floppiness issue by finding a plastic office-size garbage can and cutting it to fit inside (shoutout to Dave Canterbury for the idea). Makes it sturdier and more functional for me. Thinking of shelling out $14 and getting some tactifans shoulder strap pads to improve the comfort on a heavy carry. Can't say enough good things about it.
I have seen that mentioned a few times sense I published. I have seen the series, but I need to go back back and check it out again..... quick google search later looks like the bag and there is still label on the bag. Though I cannot read it from the google images.
I came here to check the review before I pull the trigger. It's nice to see you pause and spend time with your daughter... unlike the others who are pushing away their kids when they are being interrupted.
Yeah, I think its a no go for me on the things you mentioned, I want straps and buckles not snaps, but again better than magnets, if you want to you can JB weld the snaps closed so you have to use the buckles. cutting some thin sleeping bag padding, or the car windshield folding shade for a back plate could help, and the wax is a great idea
Have you already tried waxing this bag? I am really curious if/how that worked out! I think it would make the bag ten times better, at least! I was wondering if a Nalgene would fit in the side pockets, with the flaps open? That, with the waxing, would make it nearly perfect bag (for me). Looking forward to seeing this bag waxed!
I have not waxed it yet. I’ve been swamped with work and home life. I have a staycation this month, I was planning on waxing it then. I will be filming it and making a video about it. I’ll try to remember later to toss a Nalgene in the pocket to see if it fits and report back.
I've never seen the show. But doing a quick good image search it looks similar, but it is not the same bag. The straps and buckles are different. It could be a bag made for the show. I have done a deep dive looking for a bag as similar to the Joel bag from Last of us, and this is the closets available bag I found. And that bag looks very similar, just different straps and buckles. It is a pretty simple design, so any props department could make it with some canvas and leather. I'm sure if you got one of these Gootium bags, anyone who has seen that show, would think it was the same bag from it.
Great review on this bag, wouldn’t think something like this would be on my list but it’s pretty slick and price is good too. Who makes the book pouch?
Season 10 E22. Looks like it is the same bag Aaron uses. Which would make sense. He used what was here, and Aaron uses a leather bag later on in season 11.
Can you speak on the shoulder attachment points? One of the issues I’ve found with these $50.00 and under bags are the shoulder attachment points under medium weight. Do they feel well secured?
I didn’t feel as though the bag was going to fail in me at all. It was pretty solid. That being said, i wouldn’t lug 50lbs in the bag. That might be a bit much for the straps to hold. And them being basically unpadded, they would not not be comfortable.
@@John_jingle_hiemer_schmit I have to get on that! I’ve been so burned out with my day job, I don’t want to do anything when I get home. I’m turning into Mr. Wilson! Haha
@@Leonisdarko I'll try to recall what it currently has from memory. It still has the stock 49cc GET engine and air box. I have been using Kevlar belts for most of the time I have had the bike. As well as a Polini variator added early on. I swapped out the original handlebars for some lowered NCY BMX style bars and a speedo mount. I also swapped out the original red battery box for a black one. I removed the floorboards, but cut the lower half of the tank floorboard to be hidden under the carbon fiber tank cover. This allows protection of the gas tank and fuel filter. I swapped out for an NCY lowered seat frame and at one point also had an NCY frame brace. I have sense swapped out for a Killer Scooters brace with 6 shooter pegs. I also swapped out the coolant reserve and the rad cover for for some after market parts. Clear lenses for the front turn signals and integrated tail light in the rear with a custom mount. Mountain bike bar end mirrors (use to have JDM Tanax mirrors but they sucked). Cut the duck tail off the rear fender and put street tires on. I also ditched the heavy stick center stand and put a side stand on it. I'm sure there are more mods. But that's just what I can think of right now. I don't remember the whole parts list, but I'm sure with some think time I can remember most of the parts used on the bike. It was a really big part of my life for a while. Always working on it, modding it and finding routes to get where I needed to go slow.
Well, that's too bad. Hope you weren't huffing some nice arsenic -based green dye fumes there. I may have to try and copy this one with some old duffle bag canvas. I like the design a whole lot.
I sold army surplus for 17 years. I’ve seen a lot of the real thing. I wish I was into this stuff back then. I was more interested in in Crumpler, Chrome, RE Load and Timbuk3 back then. Now it doesn’t exist.
If there are any particular packs or products you would like me to take a look at, please drop me a line at jeffgrantmedia@gmail.com

I’ve been looking at this comment for 5 months with no reply. So I just want to reply to move it from the top of my comment feed in the studio app.
This is the exactly same bag Jeremy Renner used in the "Hawkeye" series which was released back in 2021!

Just bought this bag because of a friend's recommendation. Nice to see it was money well spent
I still toss it into rotation. And eventually my life will calm down, and give enough time to try to wax it.

I got wax in the mail two days ago. Probably gonna try to do it next Sunday

Got this bag today as an early christmas present, very good quality and can't wait to use it, also like the fact it's used by Negan and Aaron lol
@@maxshowler it’s a pretty solid bag for a good price.

I'll keep a look out for that video.

A little later than I intended, but I finally waxed the bag last week. th-cam.com/video/ilMzEhn9-bc/w-d-xo.html
is this the same one used by Hannah Baker in 13 Reasons Why?

The book pouch is a new release form GREENROOM136. They come in a few sizes depending on your laptop. Great pouch.
@@jeffgrantMEDIAthank you! Did it sell out? Can’t seem to find it on their website.
@@matrixman339 at the time of filming, three were in stock on Amazon. And they were actually on sale by time I got and filmed.
