I’m hoping to make this snake army work for a video at some point. I’m also always on the hunt for a good sized army off of eBay for a good price. Those projects are really great, especially when they are really broken and messed up!
The OG "Clash of the Titans" has so much more personality and charm than the remake, IMO. The scene where Perseus is both stalking and being stalked by Medusa builds so much suspense, when he finally takes her head, that shriek she lets out scared the heck out of me as a kid! The tension is broken but good. Not to mention Ray Harryhausen is a legend for a reason. Morathi looks great and I really like the teal tones you chose for the snake scales and the wings. The color progression to the venomous stinger on her tail is really smooth, too. Nice work!

Been watching your channel for awhile now. After a bout with depression telling me I am a horrible painter I put my figs up, but I’m thinking about getting them back out and painting. I bought Morathi just because I really love her sculpt and then got some Daughters of Kaine, so I know how you feel. You are making me excited to try and start painting again. You are an amazing talent and your videos definitely help me out.
Yay! Return of the blue sunglasses! That's a lovely looking paint job. Very dramatic. Even though Morathi's eyes are yellow here; she reminds me of Meg Foster.
Loved this video! For someone who tends to stumble his way through paint jobs it was nice to be reminded to go with the flow and possibly use the mistakes made to your advantage. Hope to see the rest of the army painter! :D

There's another Morathi made after the Chris Fitzpatrick one you featured - Morathi riding dark pegasus (also by Chris I think) - which occasionally turns up on ebay and is definitely a great addition to the series

Great job. I’m wondering if you missed an opportunity to go with the traditional white painted stonework Would have made a really nice point of difference for the entire army. Not to mention the weather and detail you can add to a white wall with rust effects etc 🤷♂️
No hyperbole: This might be the best paintjob I've seen on your channel. I really enjoy the scheme you went for, because it is much more to my liking than the official Morathi. Even though she is a Medusa-inspired entity, I feel that the regality of the model would make it fitting for converting Lolth the Spider Queen or some other evil elven deity. :)
I found morathi on pegasus and a whole bunch of doomfire warlocks on sprue in an old fantasy army box set back in 2018. I still haven't put her together, but it's cool having an oop hero model!
I really like the Daughters of Khaine.....and I already have some older models that are part of this army....and I live on the Mediterranean coast...and I like teal and red. Man, you've given me some inspiration :)
I think a lot of textures came from the original primer, not necessarily from the dust. You can see the texture in shots like this one: 4:10. In hind side a nice bath of LA totally awesome was warranted after all. EDIT: After seeing the rest of the I think it was both dust and a rough prime.
It definitely could have been part of the primer, though I don’t usually have that issue through an airbrush. Still, it all could have been avoided with a good cleaning to make absolute sure that everything went down smooth over clean plastic. I probably could see the primer going down easier that way if it was in fact the culprit!

Hey man. i love these colours and pretty much any colour scheme you make. How do you go about choosing what colours or what resources did you draw from to learn your colour theory?
Thanks! Most of the time I like to work from the color wheel, use a main color and the opposite of that, then add a little spot color for some pop as the finisher. In this one I definitely took inspiration from the movies and the way that the scenery looked, the colors were just nice and vibrant! Other times I will go through Instagram and just look at all sorts of minis and color combinations, you never know what will pop out and make you want to use a certain color.

Lol I know, it’s so slow going right now though. I’ve begun the work on the wall but I had to rip down a bunch of crappy wood paneling and it all needs to be patched and textured, then painted, lights hung etc…so slow, but I will get there and definitely be doing a tour :)
I have had these since I was pretty young, I’m not even sure why or where they came from. My guess is they were from some kind of set from Harbor Freight that my dad got me for Christmas at one point. They are super handy though! I would try Amazon and see if they have angled tweezers, I don’t think the ones I have are anything special so I’m betting you’ll find something similar pretty quick.
I like the WH and WH40k universes but, haven't tried my hand at miniatures yet. Seems like quite a daunting task, especially watching the paint portions. I'm completely outta my depth there, though it's quite cool to watch.

Thanks! Honestly any kind of sonic cleaner with a good degreaser will work really well. The ones on Amazon are mostly Chinese machines that get shipped with all sorts of “brand names” but they are all pretty much the same thing. The Famili one I used for a long time was the least expensive one I could find that was large enough for most models, I’ve since switched to one of the bigger metal ones and that’s been awesome. I believe the one I use now is a 2 liter model, it fits a ton of stuff. Just make sure to get one off of Amazon in case it doesn’t work out of the box, and you can return it for free. I’ve had to do that before and it was a lifesaver!
As you mentioned liking Greek Mythology, did you look at the new Aeon Trespass Odyssey board game that was Kickstarted 2 years ago? Has KDM vibes but with a Greek theme.
I kinda forgot she was there lol but mostly cause I was trying to make the comparison between how the original looked and how the new one was designed. The Pegasus version is kind of her own model. But definitely still a Morathi :)
I guess that if the sculptor says he sculpted Morathi then he sculpted Morathi. That’s not what GW released it as though. That sorceress was released as a dark elves sorceress, at the tail end of 5th edition. I’ve checked the old catalogs and it’s not in the 98 one, but it’s in the 99 one. I don’t have access to my old pewter one right now so I can’t check what it says on the tab. It would belong in the history of Morathi minis, but to be fair one ought to also include the first mini released as Morathi, the half naked one on Pegasus released like 2 years later.
Everyone has their opinions, and I’m pretty open to most of them. There are always things that could have been done differently or better, but at the end of the day I made what I like and in the time I had to do it. So it’s all good :)
Nice video but not your best Paintjob. I like the general colour and the snake part but dislike the transition between wing and muscle and that the hair snakes don't have much contrast. But the again solid Paintjob for 2 weeks
Quite like the channel and the paint jobs in general. However this one feels unfinished/sloppy to me. The flesh color on the arms oversprayed onto the wings and for some reason was not corrected. Similarly the scales on the main torso are not correctly colored , some of the edge ones are flesh and some are teal - my eyes can't help but notice the inconsistency. Maybe it's just me.
I was about to criticize you for leaving out the model of Morathi on the pegasus, but then I figured the exposed boob might get you demonetized (or make it inappropriate for kids).

Wow, watching the oil wash flow into the scales of the lower body was intensely satisfying.
I do love that about oil washes, it never gets old too, so satisfying :)

YES!! Skeleton move like that because of the great Ray Harryhausen. I paint all my skeleton models using his colour scheme and style.
They still look great too, much credit to how much effort was put in even back in the day to make them so perfect!

I like to use a large makeup brush (one of the cheap one I bought for dry brushing) to dust minis before I paint. Seems to work pretty well.

Not sure about runes in yellow, maybe a magenta could have fit better. Snakes are also a bit too monochromatic.
