Indian Army gets Atmanirbhar firepower boost; First India-made Light Combat Helicopter inducted

- Made-in-India Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) was inducted into the Indian Army on September 29. The first LCH was formally handed over by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) to Director General, Army Aviation Corps. The induction will considerably elevate the combat capability of the Indian Army. I was doing an Internship in Hal, Banglore, in 2014, and I saw this beast while it was being made. I feel so happy to see this machine operational now. Proud of HAL
The only good thing & design HAL ADA has ever made in their worthless existence for last 70 years as PSUs as maintenance & servicing company of IAFs foreign aircraft & helicopters. 🤷♂️

@@surojeetchatterjee Because they were only told to do that as an engineer at HAL let me tell you in that 70 years 60 years is governed by Congress and they said they will buy military equipment from foreign countries and you only have to do its maintainance but in last 8 years the new govt have given us the liberty freedom money to engage in make in india process that's why now we are able to make helicopters fighter aircraft and many more it takes time to do research and build which never happened in those 60 years its happening now that's why we are making progress slowly and steadily

I am in jodhpur, rajasthan and last few days everyday from 10 am to 12pm i can see multiple LCH flying over our mainroads i was like what is happening i knew the design so i recognised the helicopter and was also happy to see what i saw on internet with my own eyes flying!

I am glad and so happy to see India started manufacturing defence equipment and technology, hope this is a starting step of so many to come in future . This also boosts the economy by exporting our defence technology & equipment with foreign countries . No looking back , one gentle man said this decade is an Indian decade and rightly so

I m happy India is developing its own weapons now. Finally they are trusting Indian engineers, instead of looking abroad. But they could have changed the shape a little because it looks like a copy of the American Apache helicopter, just the exterior.
This is a light attack helicopter, Apache is a medium to heavy attack chopper. I wonder what you might say about the design of Eurocopter Tiger as well!
Function dictates the form. Dolphins look like fish doesn't mean the they copied the design but it's the most optimal design for a swimming aquatic predator .
India is capable of producing world class products like the Tejas, LCH, & Vande Bharat. However when it comes to scaling up production our record is pathetic to say the least.. Train 18 or Vande Bharat was introduced in 2019, but after 3 years we have only 3 operational. The target of even 75 VB by August 23 I. e 6 VB every month does not seem forthcoming. This is the same with others Tejas & LCH. We cannot meet our own needs which is quite high but think of exports.
That's correct. Our production capacity is very poor and it's also because of HAL's inability to properly embrace robotics and AI in production lines. Much of the task is still being done manually. Our current production rate for Tejas is 6 jets per annum which is pathetic. If we want to be able to export them, then we need to ramp up our production capacity to meet both domestic and international orders.
It's all about funding. Everything costs money.
@@artichokie791 Lol, the Airforce doesn't give enough orders to make economic sense for buying expensive machinery. HAL is not at fault here. You get what you pay for. Right now there is requirement of 200LCH but the same is not ordered. They are still testing. I guess orders will come when IAF will complete solar and lunar trials. Lol. What you're seeing is limited series production LCH of which only 15 are ordered. HAL ain't buying expensive line for such low order.

It's very important to Produce them in Large numbers because indian lacks in Attack Helicopter.
During Kargil War india faced soo many difficulty to attack on those high mountains because Mi-25/Mi-35 which India uses is a heavy attack Helicopter, that's why India purchased 22 Apache Attack Helicopter to fullfill the needs.
During Kargil war Fast movers (Attack Aircrafts) can't able to drop bombs because they can be entered the pakistani borders but at last resort Jaguars are used to drop bombs on that ridge and Mirage 2000 was on stand by to support Jaguars if they enter into Enemy territory.
Pakistan And China both have large fleets of attack Helicopters,
Pakistan have Cobra Attack Helicopter and China have its own home grown one both are light Attack choppers.

Though this helicopter’s capabilities are much less as compared to their global counterparts like Boeing AH-64 Longbow, the development and induction of this helicopter in IAF and IA is a step in the right direction. We have light years ahead of us but we need to continue this momentum.

Need 100+ LCH and 100+ Apaches. They complement each other well. LCH for high altitude patrols and low cost reconnaissance. Apache to destroy large groups of armored vehicles and other military assets.
