As a android user that does not use apple products I must say the Ultra deserves at least 2 points for the first round. Faster and smoother is definitely important factors that should weigh more.
the galaxy watch 5 pro is sold for 230$ in my country while the ultra is sold for 870$ (Lebanon btw). The watch 5 pro is waaay more value. You can even pick it up used for 150$!
Both are great watches. Like you said, they are best for each ecosystem. I would have liked better overall connectivity on the Apple Watch Ultra. I'm able to control more apps on my Galaxy Watch 5 Pro automatically than on the Apple Watch Ultra. Even Apple Music doesn't connect to the phone (unless I'm missing something). I do love how the Ultra can connect to my Apple Air Pods Pro 2 and Beats Fit Pro without me pairing them (although I prefer a third party ear buds over the Apple products). Texting is easier on the Ultra, but if you can use swipe efficiently, Galaxy 5 Pro gets the edge (except punctuation). I tell people the Ultra is only worth it if you can afford it (or an athletic junkie). Otherwise they're two watches best for the same brand phone.
The body composition feature is actually quite accurate on the pro and it is the best feature on any smartwatch, especially if you like working out and stay fit.
I wouldn't say it's the best feature. I have a Galaxy Watch, and while the feature is nice, it's only useful when paired with a scale. I already had a smart scale from Amazon that I got for $20, which also measures body composition.

I just switched to the S23 Ultra after being a hardcore Apple fangirl since the iPhone 4. However, I can’t give up my Apple Watch Ultra! I love it so much and will just keep my iPhone 13 so it can connect to it. I’m happy to use it just for fitness and the clock/timer, ect 🤗

I was in this dilema in the past few days, wether to get a watch 5 pro or a watch 6, both of which were the same price, 10 euro diference. And i decided for the 5 pro becouse of the battery knowing that the extra performance will not matter that much on a watch that got a small screen and that i will be using mostly for listening to music and keeping track of steps and style.
I’m an Apple Watch user. I really wish Apple will allow users to change fonts on Apple Watch. I personally think the SF Pro looks better on the watch than SF Round.
Each of these watches are the best for the phone you're using. I have been a Samsung user for years and have 2 watch 5 pros. Samsung dropped the ball on covering one of their phones and trying to communicate with them is near impossible I swapped to iphone, ipad, and of course the ultra. I'm going to say during my 30 day satisfaction deal the ultra played a major role in me deciding to stay with iphone. It runs very smooth, talking on it is better which wasn't really addressed here. I would say that the ultra watch was probably 70% of the reason I stayed with iphone, it's that much better to me. With that said, would I switch over to iphone just for the ultra.. no. Samsung just finally gave me a reason to try iphone and I was given the opportunity to try apple. The watch on either side would not be a reason to switch to either of the phones, but the ultra for me is the better experience. As far as Samsung battery lasting longer.. It is a bigger battery. For my usage I still get 2 full days of use out of either one. I've gotten 3 days on either one, but I just don't want to push the 3rd day. For normal usage I end the 2nd day around 40% left at end of 2nd day, but I do end with 30% range on the ultra more often as I use it more then I did with Samsung for replying to messages. The bigger screen, mic, and speaker on ultra seems to work better.

I've been using the 5 pro for some time now, and I get way more than 2 days from a single charge. I charged my watch 2 days ago, and I still have 41% charge remaining! Secondly, she missed one really great feature of the pro. It has a stress tracker that constantly measures your steel level. Working in retail, there's usually a couple times a week my watch will alert me that my stress level is super high! Both are great devices, and the best for each ecosystem.
Wait a min. Yeah about the temperature thing but who really goes in those severe areas. The BIG miss you did was blood pressure monitoring!!! How you didn’t give the point to Galaxy for that baffles me!! Most people will use that feature than the extreme temperature rating!! Definitely GALAXY ALL THE WAY!!

I Switched from the 40mm series 5 Apple watch to the Galaxy watch 5 pro. I had to charge the apple watch almost twice a day since I used to use it for sleep tracking as well. That took a big hit on the battery health as well. With my new watch I am happy to charge just once every 2 days. But the positives end there. There is a lot of lag in the watch and the ecosystem features need some refinement. The lag is visible in the charging animation and the watch doesn't go to DND when I am driving.

I think the price here is what separates the two. One is almost a grand, while the other is a little less than half the price. The question is, would you pay the extra 300 dollars for those premium features?
I think it is important to consider your needs and wants when choosing a smartwatch. If you are looking for a watch that is easy to use and that integrates well with your other Apple products, then the Apple Watch Ultra is a good choice. If you are looking for a watch that has more features and that gives you more control, then the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is a good choice.

I'm surprised by the battery life section. I understand that the Ultra was made to last a lot longer than the regular Apple watch? I can only give a specific example: I'm a marathon runner and have friends who use iPhones. They have the older model Apple Watches and unfortunately those devices are incapable of lasting an entire marathon for most runners. The Ultra will last a marathon and beyond. Your video is making me want to go watch a runner review the Galaxy Watch 5 on a marathon. By the way, I need my watch to focus on fitness rather than smartwatch capabilities so I buy Garmins.
I’ve had both, currently using the Apple Watch, and hands down the Galaxy watch is better. There is a very limited amount of watch faces and poor app organization for the Apple Watch. Also currently dealing with a Spotify connection problem with my Apple Watch.

With Apple Watch Ultra it gives me peace of mind, because I know it can survive anything without doubt. So I'm with Ultra on this one. I have used previous generations Samsung watch but the waterproof rating is not that great. They say that it's 50M but I highly doubt it because I have suffered the damage and since then I don't trust Samsung's rating.
8:51 I will always like to see TH-camrs talking about the shortcut options on the Galaxy watch. You can add shortcut to the home screen and you can add actions (Custom keys) to the top bottom in your Galaxy watch and with a double press you can open any app. The Galaxy watch have compass 🧭 and track back feature too.
It doesn't matter which one's better. It matters what your phone is. You can't use an apple watch without an iPhone and a Galaxy watch without a Android.
It would have been nice if you mentioned the call wait option! You can see the second incoming call on your Samsung watch but Apple Watch doesn’t have that option 😒 which is really annoying!

Especially after I got apple phone 8+ at the time and can compare two system using my Samsung and Apple phones. Anyway that helped me to learn how is Mac Os operating system works in general so will not have problems if need to work on / use any apple device - computer, ipad or apple smartwatch. So when I decided a month ago to get my first smart watch, I chosen to get Samsung pro5. Really impressed what the smart watch can do. I have been using Apple electronics (iPad, Macbook, Mac Mini, iPhone, Apple Watch) for many years, but decided to sell all these electronics on principle. After the sanctions against Russia, I chose the Galaxy Watch 5 and bought myself a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, because I can easy pay in shops using NFC, unlike Apple Pay on iPhone and Apple Watch where this feature was disabled for Russia by Apple.

Very interesting and useful video. Thank you. I have never been fan of Mac os operating system which have Apple devices. Android operating system is more convenient for me. Especially after I got apple phone 8+ at the time and can compare two system using my Samsung and Apple phones. Anyway that helped me to learn how is Mac Os operating system works in general so will not have problems if need to work on / use any apple device - computer, ipad or apple smartwatch. So when I decided a month ago to get my first smart watch, I chosen to get Samsung pro5. Really impressed what the smart watch can do. Also, thanks to your video can much easier and faster learn and understand how it operates and what I can do using the smart watch in general. So thanks once, you're doing great job and great self education videos ❤😊.

I have been using Apple electronics (iPad, Macbook, Mac Mini, iPhone, Apple Watch) for many years, but decided to sell all these electronics on principle. After the sanctions against Russia, I chose the Galaxy Watch 5 and bought myself a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, because I can easy pay in shops using NFC, unlike Apple Pay on iPhone and Apple Watch where this feature was disabled for Russia by Apple.
