I drove this tank in 1984 at white sands missile range N.M. when I was in the army it is awesome!!!!We did all the tests on it when it was first being developed!
Yes, it is an AMAZING machine! To this day I have pictures of it for my backgrounds on my computer and up until a year ago it was on my phone too ( got a girlfriend now she is in its place) My battalion was the test dummies for the A2
For being your first unboxing, I think you did a great job! I know how hard it is to get so much info into one film.. :) Remember, I always make films that I LIKE TO WATCH! So if you think you did a good job, thats all that matters! Really cool !
Thank you so much for your words and your time. Speaking of time, this doesnt sound like something you would do but i figured i would throw it out there anyway, of all the people on this net that i think could use this you are #1 in my mind. Have you ever heard of Patreon? i know you have a bad back and it puts you down at times so you could earn money by using Patreon. did you watch the second part or just the first? To be honest with you i liked my first attempt at the unboxing better but youtube didnt like it or something (it was a 35 min video) so i split it up so it would be excepted.
the heng long one is only 249 on amazon and 114 on ebay, so you can have one. The tamiya one well that is a ridiculous price i bought mine when i was in Japan so it wasnt as expensive as it is now.
I would suggest breaking out an air brush or rattle can as well as chalks and brushes to detail that out fully. I love seeing modelling finally crossing over into RC. Its about damn time! I have been saying for years that models should have motors, lights and good detailing. This model is all that and more. I saw your comments to the RC Saylors and decided to check you out. My Channel is RC Hobbist Extreme on You- Tube. I can relate to first time video's as I finally decided to start a channel. I need to make more video's and actually will in the next comming weeks. You did a good job on this. As you said, you know the product so that helps in product review. Knowing a product really shows you care about what you are reviewing. Awesome review!
thank you so much for the comments and advice. I have already decided to have an interactive type paint job on my tank but only on the hull part of the tank. I am so afraid of messing up my paint job if i try to weather it or make it combat riddin. I do plan on doing videos for each thing that i end up doing as i build this. this is going to be a slow build cuz i want it to be right and accurate or as accurate as i can make it. of course i will still be critiquing it as i get deeper into the model and the parts of it to the real tank.
mark twain If you use acrylics and dry brush them on, it wont matter if you good up, you can use a cotton ball soaked in alchohol and remove it very easy. Dry chalks( pastels) can really add a lot to the realism and also can be easily removed. Once you get it the way you like, you can seal it in with a clear coat. There are many videos available on detailing military vehicles. Of course that will all come later, after the build. I saw a couple of videos on that tank as far as build. I was disappointed in them. No real in depth showing how things were done really. I bet you could do 100% better. I have a Wraith Rock crawler RC truck I will be making a build video on. Some of it is already done by the guy I bought it( stole really) from. I am also restoring a 25 year old RC plane( Nitro powered) that my brother gave me. It was his father in laws and he started workingvon it and gave up. I havent any experience with Nitro in 40 years, so that should be interesting.
i gave up on nitro along time ago, i do noting but electric. I was able to out run nitros with electrics back in early 2000`s so i dropped the nitros like a hot potato. so i dont have a WRAITH but i have an scx10, a bomber, and a yeti from axial and an mst cfx-w, a slash 2wd, and 4x4 and a summit and a ervo from traxxas. my yeti, bomber, and scx10 are for racing in our U4 competition. i have seen the acrylic paint with brushes to do the weathing and it is pretty sweet.
mark twain I used to do trains as a hobby so I did A LOT of weathering on trains, buildings ,ground, rocks. you name it. You can buy weathering kits at the local hobby shop for train lay outs but found out they are a scam. One bottle had actual sand in it. Thebother was watered down ink and the rust looked like they scraped the pipes from someones sink into a bottle, the stuff ran off the model. I dont remember who makes it, but I still have it sitting around. I paid $20 for dirt, ink and rusty water. What a rip off! I found a bottle of stuff by Tamya that worked way better. And much cheaper. It is acrylic based so easy to apply, clings and thins easy enough, and looks like real rust.
I said in an earlier message that i was gonna do an interactive paint job on the hull, this will be achieved by painting the hull different colors and then when i take it out to play with it any scrapes or scratches will look like real damage i hope ( that is my theory anyway).
Hello i am watching your video right now. And listening carefull but why while talk about the details get the parts out of the plastic. The viewer can see so much better. Thanks
This video was my very first video being on youtube. I didn't have an editing program or a camera at the time, this was all done on my phone and I had no idea what kind of run time I had on my phone at the time either. Not to mention that taking the parts out of the plastic means there is a chance of losing them and that is something I was not going to do for something I have waited for many, many, many, many, years to get. I say that I have waited for many years cuz Tamiya used to only have WWII tanks in their line up, then they came out with the Leopard and even after they made that it still took them years to come out with this tank. Not to sound like a spoiled kid or anything but Tamiya didn't even come out with the latest version of the M1A2, this is the very first version, and that has been a thorn in my side as far as realism goes for me.
I just pulled the trigger on this kit, full option. I am confused though, does it come with a radio? It appeared to in your video but everywhere I see online says it does not. Can't to get this beast.
I am also doing a build series on this thing. I don't know if you do but I have an intimate knowledge of this vehicle and that is why I bought the thing in the first place.
I don't but my dad was career army and was a tank mech after Nam. My little bro was born at Fort Knox back in the day. Tanks have always fascinated me and I have wanted this kit for awhile. I will be checking out your videos while I await delivery
Hello, just received my kit from FedEx, was excited. After unbox verily every thing that came with it... I get disappointed as no transmitter (radio control) or receiver in the kit... full option kit should have all in...
I bought this when it first came out so the kit has changed some I guess. Sorry for the confusion. maybe you should go back and look at the details of the add and see what the add says. It may have told you there would be no transmitter with it. where did you buy it from? I bought mine when I was in Japan.
Honest RC right, you did said that you get it in Japan. Checked few other places they too no radio to came with it, radio sold. Separately, so I Odered one. Thank you for reply too.
Honest RC, everything you have in the box, but radio, receiver, battery, charger. I checked with some other hobby store they told me the some those 4 items are not included in the box... all good is cool kit as of now I’m waiting for radio and receiver to arrive so I can start a my private tank warfare lol
Honest RC I’m British formerly a ex soldier of the British army and used to operate challenger 2 which I really want tamiya to make a model of I want one that is as realistic as possible
Honest RC what do I know about the abrams it’s got a 120 mm smothbore gun after being upgraded from the British L7 105 mm has a roof mounted 50 cal and M240 mg has a M240 coax mg uses a version of a choblam armour used by many countries including Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦,Australia,Iraq that’s some of stuff I know about the M1 Leopard 2 used by Germany 🇩🇪 and many NATO members built by Kruiss maffi wegman came into service in the late 70s armed with 120 mm smoothbore gun and has MG3 rood mounted and a MG3 coax mg which has been updated to a 50 cal RWS system in the A7 version used by Germany 🇩🇪 I can talk about tanks all day as I have a lot of knowledge and have a lot of experience on Challenger 2 I got out in 2015 after 10 years service
@@lloyd9710 : ok so this version of the Abrams that Tamiya made is the first version of the M1A2 it is not the newest version. If you want the newest version of the tank you will have to make your own parts which is something that I was in the process of doing but I ran into video issues and kinda stopped everything except a few things here and there until I can get the whole video thing figured out. It all is a preference thing for you or the most part. you could do what I used to do until Tamiya came out with an Abrams tank and that is to get a Heng long 1/16th version of your tank to get your tank fix. the heng long tanks have 6mm plastic BB`s and they are pretty cool. some of them can be upgraded to metal parts also. it might be worth checking out.

Small details like these is what makes Tamiya much more expensive than other Chinese brands.

Really good unboxing, great incites you gave us into real world tanks.
Thank you so much. This was my first unboxing, i was nervous. do you have one of these tanks or a heng long one?
Unfortunately no i dont have either, but i sure as heck want one now lol

Primate: Yes, it comes with everything you need to operate it including a charger ( i use my hobby grade one)
I will also add that there are metal parts but there are no metal road wheels for it. you can get metal track but it will cost you 160 bucks.
Cool, thanks for the info. I can't wait to start building it. Should fit nice next to all my other Rc's

Hi can you tell me how much that kit is so I can get one
it cost me less than what it is now. i bought mine in Japan. the last I knew of it was 1200.00 bucks
2020 here I thought that tank causes cancer because of the chemicals
What???
