I’m from Essex where Prodigy are from and saw them at V Festival absolutely brilliant still the best out of all the artists I saw over the years. They wanted us to jump we bloody jumped it was another level.
This song, “breathe” & “Smack my bitch up” were huge hits in 90’s.
Ha, that's true. I remember being one of many kids running around singing about "smacking my bitch up" with no comprehension of the words I was saying.
He really wants to get to the source he should do Ultramagnetic MCs "Give The Drummer Some" which is where they got the sample of Kool Keith saying "Change my pitch up/smack my bitch up" and then do Ultramagnetic's "The Saga of Dandy, the Devil and Day" which is about the black baseball league.
The main riff on Breathe just flooded my mind and I can't get it away now.
It's a shame. "Diesel Power" is way underrated, as well as "Mindfields" and "Narayan"

Also, check out their 2005 collection, called " Their Law: 1990-2005". Both the CD & DVD versions.
Lastly, they put out a VHS back in 1995. Great early years documentary. "Electronic Punks". Cool to have but pretty pricey these days. Not a must have though.
On the other hand, " World's on Fire" & "Their Law" are must haves.
I had the privilege of knowing Keith for over 20 years, so sad he is gone! We had some good times out in Essex
For me, The Prodigy are the best musical moment of the 90's. They transcend genre. 'Mindfields' still makes the hairs on my arms stand up.

Despite what you might think looking at Keith, it's widely accepted that he was one of the most adorable guys anyone could meet, absolute heart of gold.
Never judge a book by its cover, some of the strangest people you'll ever see are the loveliest people you could ever hope to meet.
My dad used to have Keith as a customer when he had a gardening business and always said what a nice guy he was,they would usually have a cup of tea and a biscuit in the garden and talk about plants😊

I remember MTV made a big deal of this video because it was the only one they would play that showed bare breasts and wouldn’t play it before midnight (and they didn’t sensor it!) As a pre-teen, that made me want to stay up and watch it even more.
They used to play it alongside come to daddy by aphex twin, which was released roughly the same time! Thats a video that will make mr video near shit his pants I reckon! He'll love it hehe

I fell in love with The Prodigy around the time of this album, I guess I was around 20. I remember being home at my parent's house on leave, getting up and playing the free-to-air tv station that had a music program on at that time. My parents got up a little later, made their toast and coffee, and came into the living room. At this point Breathe by The Prodigy came on, in less than a minute my Mum had to leave the room because of the evil devil content in the video :)

Keith flint (the front man your seeing) was a beautiful human being, sorely missed. I personally know many ppl who have personal connection to the group (the prodigy) an the U.K. dance scene who all confirm the same thing, that he was a beautiful smily soul.
This can be seen in many especially early interviews with him, Iv been face to face with him at gigs him with his devil like contact lenses staring into my soul, but this was all a staged act. RIP Keith flint ♥️✌🏼🔥

Prodigy was originally without vocals, Flint was a dancer who came up with the idea of adding lyrics. His purpose was to get the crowd moving, thus being a 'firestarter'.

This isn't actually true, Maxim had sung on tracks previously but regarding Keith, there is a good mini documentary somewhere about how he wanted this and how they progressed to having more of their own vocals on tracks rather than it being entirely sampled.
