I actually just made a splash guard 😅 I was worried about water getting into the electronics as well. I have a shelf I made on the bottom of the table with some L channel and aluminum cutouts that holds my razorweld. Mainly because cords draped everywhere drive me insane and I already had to fab a new voltage divider cable because I caught it and snapped it off. Which I added an inline capacitor to level it out better and it works much better more stable voltage readings no random torch outs. To make the guard I just measured the distance of the torch mount bolts and height range of the z axis designed out from that. I ran a slot mount instead of a fixed mount to add a spring system to it. So when it touches off the guard it moves up and back down without binding up the torch height control. If you have a sheet metal bender that's perfect. If not you should definitely get one it's a solid investment and will get used once you have it... you'll get tons of new ideas trust me. I generally program a small v shaped notch along the edges where I'm going to bend the part for alignment and bend relief.
And actually if I had to redo the guard I would have designed it so the front portion was a separate cutout piece with a hinge so changing consumables would be easier. Which I still might do at some point
this looks so good! it’s actually for my dad and our family’s new business! I can’t wait for my dad to see this, and so thankful that Rich thought about doing this, it looks amazing. surprised my dad hasn’t noticed some of his tools are gone lol
I have to play with my spring back setting in the post processor to get my thc to start at the correct height. I check it with a .060 shim by starting the cut profile in fire control with the plasma cutter off, then go back and forth between fusion 360's post processor spring back setting and re-uploading the cut profile in fire control until I get it torch height set correctly. Usually only takes a couple of tries. Thanks for keeping the content entertaining for another Indiana boy!
I didn't catch this one when it was first released. Great work, creative project. I really like the hex heads you cut out and welded on to appear to be bolt heads, I may be stealing that idea in the future. I am curious, was that beer warm, or if the "Keystone Girl" that tough? I always enjoy the added humor and fun that the two of you have together.
Another great one. Really enjoy your Fusion 360 / CNC videos. Really like you talking costs and such, it helps us get a better feel for what signs and other fabs go for. My completely uneducated guess, would have guessed $300-$600 for a sign like that. It'll be nice to learn what the fix is for your auto torch height Also, very nice "tool chest" lol
Great job on the sign Great detail and look, great way to incorporate the keystone girl and the tools. i think a 1000.00 or more based on time and materials cost, loved the video .
I have a Longmill CNC router. I converted it to hold and trigger a plasma torch. I do not have a THC yet. Still looking into installing one. Really would like to know what yo find out about yours.
Hey Kyle! Wanted to suggest tapping a T fitting and valve into your compressor line to run bubblers in your new water table. Also, you can use the positive air pressure routed to an RV water tank under your CNC machine. RV water tank is lower profile. Open air valve to water reservoir and it will push water up into your table.
@@SpicerDesignsLLC Hello! I tried Muriatic Acid to achieve a patina effect. Instead, I got a perfectly clean piece of metal....which might be good for a future project that I need clean. @stevek3786 I have shoulder surgery this Tuesday, so I'll be out of commission for about 6 weeks. My table will be in the boxes for a while unfortunately.
I wasn't sure about the tools on the end of the flag, but it came out really nice. Great idea incorporating something that connects the product with the intended owner. Seems like $100 per hour plus materials for a custom piece of work. If you move into production the quantity scale should drive down the cost. Nice work.
Looks good I wonder if the stars area would be better if it had the rust like the Dawson's Auto Care and then alternate on the stripes but no matter what looks good
Great video! Regarding price, I rarely purchase custom made items, and am surprised medium to large box stores charge so much for stuff. I blame the markup on why stuff is so high. Seeing all that you did, and learning a bit from Adam @HometownAcres, about factoring in the cost of replacing machines into the pricing. Id say a $800-$1k for both signs.

Really comes down to how quick you think you could do it. I have a different table that could do all of that in one cut session and at 200+ ipm. If I had the DXF files ready to go, probably around the $550 mark all in is what I would quote someone for this. Double the material cost (roughly $40 for half a sheet 4x8 14ga x2 = $80) + $50-70 consumable fee (paint, electrode, tip, electricity) + roughly 4 hours shop time which would include the like 10 minutes this was being cut. No DXF, add a $75/hr draft/Etsy search fee (cheaper than shop rates since it only wear and tear on my desk chair), minimum 1 hr. If it took 10 hours, my rates would be in the $1150+ range.

Fusion is single threaded so get the highest speed processor you can afford. The models run in memory, so also get as much memory as you can. If your models get larger than what can be placed in memory, Fusion will come to a halt. Rendering is multi-threaded, but that's not that important to design.

Ya i have that happening with a free sign im donating. It turned into a nightmare. Luckily this one went smooth.
Oh that’s so sick and naughty lol❤
What’s the spray you used to give it the rusted patina look? Thanks!
Ahh Dan! You cant skip through the video. I showed the whole process. Muratic acid
@@SpicerDesignsLLC I watched the whole video :) I thought you were using the muriatic acid to clean off the mill scale, and you were using something in a spray can for the patina. Was that just a clear coat?
@@danbrown4205 i know its hard tell in text but i was just messing with you. The muriatic acid was all i used dor the patina effect and then i hit it with some matte clear coat. I was really happy with the finish it gave it. Works great on mill scale too like you said.

You gave him a stupid great price! Considering materials and (10 hours) labor I would expect that sign to cost close to $2500 - $4000.
I am Norwegian and even I felt patriotic when I saw the finished flag. 👍
Haha! Thats an effective fab job right there. Thanks for the comment!
Great work kyle another impressive job done. 👏 $800
Need less friends and more full price customers 😂
Cheers 🍻
Hah! Thanks buddy. If i keep sending hats to Canada ill be broke
@SpicerDesignsLLC no crap! Shipping is crazy 🤪 I love my spicer hat I wear often and get asked wtf is it all the time. Maybe one day I will travel down to you and load up on spicer swag 😎
For the Karen’s: Kyle should pull tools out of his Speedo!😂. Have you ever thought of adding l.e.d. to your signs?
Ignore the Karen’s and avoid the speedos..ick…😝
I try to stay away from the LEDs. I dont want call backs if they crap out and its adds a lot of work to do it right and most of the time people dont want to pay what its worth.
Around 8 to 9 hundred with the flux in material costs
Len Dawson? You had to go there? #16 Kansas City Chiefs beat my MN Vikings in Super Bowl IV. Thanks Kyle. Lol. Tell The Keystone Girl I'm 14-2 picking the sweet 16. Well, I could be . After tonight.
Haha!
What laptop are you using to run 360 or what do you recommend?
Fusion is single threaded so get the highest speed processor you can afford. The models run in memory, so also get as much memory as you can. If your models get larger than what can be placed in memory, Fusion will come to a halt. Rendering is multi-threaded, but that's not that important to design.
I use a macbook air. Its worked fine for me over the years for what im doing.
