  • I asked on social media if anyone would like to see how I paint largemouth bass reproduction mounts and had a lot of people say they would, so I have recorded the process I use from World Champion fish taxidermist, Rick Krane. His system is amazing and I highly recommend it! You can take a one on one coarse with Rick in his shop or you can purchase one of his highly detailed DVDs.(watch full video for a giveaway!) I hope you enjoy! God bless.

    Awesome! Thanks for sharing this. I paint custom crankbaits, which are usually pretty bold and colorful. It is interesting seeing the various methods of making the fish more subtle and natural

      I was at the NY Musky Expo this past weekend and saw so many awesome lure makers and kept thinking, “these people are super talented and should be doing replica fish taxidermy.” You should give it a shot. At least once. You might surprise yourself.

      Yessir. I enjoy doing these replicas. I will be taking two to our state taxidermy competition in Early April. We’ll see how I fare against the best in the state. Lol. 🤷‍♂️ It’s cool to be able to do my own. I was able to do mine and my wife’s PB largemouth in 2020 and they’re on the wall together as one piece.

      The airbrush paints are polytranspar brand and are available on the McKenzie supply website. The watercolor pencils and charcoal I get at Michaels or AC Moore. Also since making this video, I started using pearlex powders which are available at Mackenzie’s and other taxidermy suppliers.

    • @TopwaterManiac
      @TopwaterManiac  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I only do replicas. I’ve never attempted a skin mount. I would think if you skin mounted a fish and wanted to start with a blank canvas, you could prime the entire thing white and then do the fish the same way you’d do a replica. Check out Waters by Terry on FB and see my other work. Thanks for the comment! Have a great day.
