I just now realized that you may have an issue finding a legal version of Dogma (there's actually a crazy reason behind why that involves Harvey Weinstein)... Having said that, Kevin Smith (the writer/director) has openly advocated for and encouraged, people to watch/share it however they can... In other words. (There are at least half a dozen full uploads on TH-cam where the uploader basically says "do whatever you want with this" and Writer/Director/Actors all want you to)
After I saw this in the theater, I started recognizing Missi Pyle(Jane Doe) in other projects. Enrico Colantoni was a former sheriff in "Veronica Mars," and had guest appearances in "Person Of Interest."
Alan Rickman is also very funny (but not onscreen) in Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, also with Sam Rockwell. It's a good movie, based off a hysterical book.
A movie based on a book based on a television series based on a radio series! "Hitchhiker's Guide" had a long and winding (and confusing) history... which is rather appropriate. EDIT: I just checked, and I was wrong. The book came after the radio series, but before the TV series.
it´s no satire.... it really is a love letter to such franchises and their fans.... it is satiric at some points and comedic at others... but this is just the perfect love letter in movie form....
It pokes fun at Star Trek and the Star Trek fandom, but in a way that says, "we're part of you." So it's not like an outsider making fun of someone; it's just good natured teasing among friends.
FANTASTIC reaction!!! This is one of my all time favourite comfort movies. It was so great to watch you two react to it. My cheeks hurt from all the smiling and laughing I did hahaha
Enjoyed everything. You're now experts at speaking termite. The reason Sigourney Weaver's uniform was torn was that a scene where she tried to distract an enemy with seduction was cut along with other scenes to get a PG rating. Unfortunately there isn't a director's cut.
She spent a lot of the movie in that torn uniform. There are 2 sets of shots, and, if you look closely, her bras don't match. Many of us noticed that...
Obviously we all enjoy having Meli be with you! (And it’s awesome that in an addition to being one of your editors, she is an amazing singer!) Hopefully she’ll be able to join you for more reactions in the future when you’re visiting Colombia!
What a BLAST! Thanks for taking us along. My favorite was when you would imitate the way the Dalmations (Termites? Whatever...) laughed. Thanks, and best of luck with future efforts!
The 1st movie I saw with Aliens receiving our TV signals was a film featuring a 14 year old Ethan Hawke called "Explorers" (1985) where 3 friends build a spaceship.
Great reaction like always, Absolutely adore this movie, and im so glad it's gotten a well-deserved revival these days. The scene when Tim Allen is in a men's room overhearing how the cast of Galaxy Quest are nobodies and all the co-stars can't stand him mirrors an actual event in William Shatner's life. He discovered the exact same things about himself when he attended a 1986 convention. And a fun-fact That scene on the rock planet, Lt. Laredo chides Dr. Lazarus for holding his tracking device upside down, claiming that he actually thought Dr. Lazarus' character was "smart or something" by the way he was leading the group to find the nearest Beryllium sphere, before realizing he was using the device incorrectly. This is a subtle reference to the first season of Startrek (1966), where Mr. Spock often held his tricorder back to front, possibly on account of Leonard Nimoy being not yet familiar with the prop. The N.S.E.A. Protector's serial number is NTE-3120. N.T.E. stands for Not the Enterprise. And the character Gwen DeMarco (Sigourney Weaver) laments that her TV Guide interview was "six paragraphs of my boobs and how they fit into my suit." This actually happened to Jeri Ryan, who played Seven of Nine on Star Trek Voyager (1995). Keep up the good work.
Great reaction ladies. "Galaxy Quest is best Star Trek film that isn't a Star Trek movie" which was said by many former Star Trek actors. Everyone in the cast of the film had a great time making it. One unique thing about making the film, rather than shaking the camera, like was done on many Star Trek & other sci-fi shows, the film production created a movable gimbal of the main bridge set, so when the set shakes all the actors reactions are genuine.
But I also think it's great that it's accessible to non-Star Trek fans! Because I never watched Star Trek yet I knew what they were going for (even if there were specific tributes/references that I'm sure I missed)
i LOVE THE STADIUM CHEER you guys do when you introduce the title! 🤣 THANK YOU LADIES for letting us laugh along with you 😂 REALLY ENJOYED your reaction! 👍😁
Just think of all the Star Wars fans who've based their entire existence on the "Jedi Code", having totally missed the point of this movie, in addition to the one of the more important subtexts of the Prequels.
Great reaction, you make a good pair for watching and working together to make these posts! As an original Trekkie from the 60s, I can say that if you knew the source material you would have an extra depth of appreciation. The magic of this movie is that you can still enjoy it without that background (as you found out). This is one of those few perfect movies - enjoyable, quotable, and endlessly rewatchable.
The joke surrounding Sigourney Weavers character is that in the original show she was cast as simple eye-candy, a cute girl to look at. The official excuse for her presence was to act as a "translator" between the crew and the computer, even tho it was bs as both spoke English. And as the Thermians built the ship exactly as in the show the computer literally would ignore anyone else but her.
Guy is Sam Rockwell, who is an amazing actor. He goes from playing inhuman, despicable villains (The Green Mile, Iron Man 2) to lovable, fun good guys (Mr. Right, The Way, Way Back) to hilarious idiots (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Galaxy Quest). He's definitely underappreciated. Missi Pyle (Laliari) is pretty under appreciated as well. Check out Dodgeball sometime. You won't even recognize her. These are two of the hardest working actors in Hollywood.
Just found your channel. Anytime a Galaxy Quest reaction happens, TH-cam shows me it. Lol. You can see Justin Long in Accepted with Jonah Hill and Lewis Black. This was his first movie. I think the debut of Rainn Wilson as well. As you mentioned shows that you would attend a convention for, I only have two. Xena: Warrior Princess The Walking Dead Though I would like to meet Trey Parker and Matt Stone from South Park.
Intil TV went full digital, it was broadcast over the air and those went into space. Justin Long's debut. Young Laredo is Corbin Blue who later starred in the High School Musicsl films. Older Laredo is Daryl Mitchell was was the teacher in 10 Things I Hate About You that ssme year. Sam Rockwell as Guy who was Wild Bill on The Green Mile, also that year. His scream was an adlib and Sigourney's reaction was real. He has been in a ton including Hammer in Iron Man 3. Malthasar is Emrico Colantoni, aka Vrronica Mars' dad. His first audition was played straight. The producers weren't impressed. He asked to try again and came up with this character. They hired him and had him train all the other aliens.
Thanks for the great reaction! Seems like the wine was flowing LOL! But the film is really fun..if you want to see one with the same type of plot watch "Three Amigos" it is hysterical. Thanks again!

Love watching your reaction, it was a lot of fun. 5:10 The first convention I went to in my life was a Star Trek convention in New York City in ~1977, because I grew up watching it on TV. Then I helped run conventions, and finally became a guest several times when I became a rocket scientist. As a guest I got to meet George Takei (the original Sulu on Star Trek) for the first time, and he wanted to listen to *me* about my work. That was one of the most magical days of my life 🥰 20:08 "Why are villains ugly?" - Cristy. That's a trope that goes back to myths and legends. For example the Greek Medusa, who had snakes rather than hair, and turned those who gaze on her to stone. Frankenstein's monster is a more recent example. In modern media it is a shorthand convention - if they are ugly, they must be bad.
Of all the videos I've watched on your channel, this was definitely the funnest. I would love to see you and Meli react to more fun and comedic movies.
Hello Cristy!😊 Nice to see your friend Melissa back again! She is cute and has a nice voice.😉👩🏻🎤 This film was voted by Star Trek fans as one of the best Star Trek films.🏆 You guys are mean. I don't know if it was intentional, but Quellek's "I always considered you as father" line is true to life to a certain extent. In the 1960s, when the original Star Trek series aired, the revolutionary cultural shifts brought on by things like the Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War, made many adolescents strongly question the nation's predominate mores and values (embodied by their parents}, and some really did see Spock's logic based philosophy and the Vulcan principle of IDIC (Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations) as much more enlightened than the traditional American beliefs and attitudes which were being blamed for racial injustice and war, so Spock was seen as a legitimate role model/guiding parental figure by some young people.
"Who is that guy, we know him?" Sam Rockwell, who plays Justin Hammer in Iron Man 2 movie. Also, Zaphod Beeblebrox in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
^Fun fact: Sigourney Weaver is actually not exactly young in this movie. She was born in 1949, this movie is from 1999 - which means she was 50 years old.
I mean, it’s true, this movie is not very popular _nowadays._ Try to bear in mind, though, that it’s been almost a quarter _century_ since it came out. When it premiered, it made a _huge_ impact; especially among _Trek_ fans. It’s like the Macarena. Have you heard of it? Nowadays, this dance lives on as a pleasant memory, but in the ‘90’s, it swept across the US. _Everyone, everywhere_ knew the Macarena.
Great fun reaction ladies ❤ This movie was not a great success at the theaters but in video release is where it got popular... Sam Rockwell is my favorite as Guy Fleegman... His reactions were so well done. My favorite line of course "Miners not minors!" When Sam's character screamed when they first were transported into the spacecraft Sigourney's reaction was real and they left it in.
@@CristyReacts Yes, you see it also in the movie Contact. Radio and TV signals broadcast over the air will go out into space. Granted, they'll get weaker and weaker as they spread out, but with the right equipment, an alien civilization could detect them, and watch/listen to Earth's old TV/radio shows.
@@LordVolkov there was a movie in the 1980s about kids getting messages from an adolescent alien who picked up on earth broadcasts. Can't remember the movie's name, though.
Great reaction to a great movie. Meli is a welcome addition and you play off each other well. Meli your music sounds great and I'm digging your vibe. Call me crazy but it's giving Alanis Morissette to me.
Brint Spiner (Commander Data) of Star Trek Next Generation once stated this was the Star Trek movie they should have made😂 Sadly the sequel was in the works when Alan Rickman passed away. I'm glad they didn't go ahead & replace Rickman. It would not have been the same. The bathroom scene wheee they make fun of the commander, actually happened to the original Captain Kirk actor William Shatner at a comic convention.
Sigourney Weaver jumped when Sam Rockwell screamed after they were beamed up. It's because the scream was unscripted. Her reaction was real. When Gwen first saw the chompers, she said, "Well, screw that!" If you watch Sigourney Weaver's lips, you'll see that she didn't really say "screw." They dubbed it later to get a PG rating. For the same reason, they cut the scene where Gwen's uniform got ripped. And you're right, Fred was stoned through the whole movie, but again, to get a PG rating they cut the explicit drug references, so he was spacy all the time without any explanation.
It's absolutely true that you don't need to have seen any Star Trek in order to really enjoy this movie and get most of the jokes - especially if you've ever watched any other sci fi series. It's also true that if you are familiar with Star Trek - and maybe even more if you are familiar with the reality of the relationship dynamics within the original cast and the fan culture that developed while it was off the air - you will enjoy this movie even more.
i love all of your movies but this was you and a bestie with wine watching one of my favorite films. Great fun reaction! Melisa is charming and funny and sings beautifully.🥰🥰love you both, thanks for the laughs!👍👍😁

(There are at least half a dozen full uploads on TH-cam where the uploader basically says "do whatever you want with this" and Writer/Director/Actors all want you to)
Lucky for me, my brother has it on DVD!
Great movie. It's basicly "Three Amigos" in space but also great.
This is the very first time I've ever heard someone say, "Oh, TIM Allen, not RICK Allen."
Surely you don't think that Cristy Reacts is real?
That poor soul🤣
Love your reactions they're so much fun😀
I'm so excited for this reaction! This is one of my favorite films. 🥰
(And it’s awesome that in an addition to being one of your editors, she is an amazing singer!)
Hopefully she’ll be able to join you for more reactions in the future when you’re visiting Colombia!
Such a fun movie! I'm glad you're watching it!
40:07
Meli: "I love how she's just like...."
Cristy: "Me, too. Yeah."
Me three.🤣
What a BLAST! Thanks for taking us along. My favorite was when you would imitate the way the Dalmations (Termites? Whatever...) laughed. Thanks, and best of luck with future efforts!
Loved watching your reaction together. ❤
Actually, many people just say "Galaxy Quest is the best Star Trek film."
@@hkpew Yes, I say this all the time. Galaxy Quest IS the best Star Trek film. :)
i LOVE THE STADIUM CHEER you guys do when you introduce the title! 🤣 THANK YOU LADIES for letting us laugh along with you 😂 REALLY ENJOYED your reaction! 👍😁
Glad you enjoy it!
Just think of all the Star Wars fans who've based their entire existence on the "Jedi Code", having totally missed the point of this movie, in addition to the one of the more important subtexts of the Prequels.
You girls did a great job with this reaction video... Great chemistry and a good sense of humor... Thank you! ❤
Guy didn’t just get a last name, he got a nickname too!
Congrats, you're the first I've seen watching this that figured out why Fred was so chill thru the whole thing. 😏
Yessss I knew it!!!
"What are the historical documents?"
Lol the goddamn show you dunce!! 😂
Never give up! Never surrender!
Im sure lots would agree, there needs to be more reactions with these two
There will be!
@@CristyReacts Cant wait to see what those will be, and what genres of movies
Alan Rickman wore that cap the entire movie 😂 even at home
You two are having way too much fun imitating the Thermians! 😂
Great reaction to one of my favorite films. This has been called the best "Star Trek" movie. P.S. Meli is a woderful singer!
Yes she is! Check out her TH-cam channel (the link is in the video description)
Xena: Warrior Princess
The Walking Dead
Though I would like to meet Trey Parker and Matt Stone from South Park.
Funny that you mentiom Trey and Matt, as their buddy Dian Bachar is one of the background engineer Thermians here 😉
Intil TV went full digital, it was broadcast over the air and those went into space.
It's always good to try things outside of your comfort zone from time to time.
13:58 - Cristy: "Oh, yessss, I love that he's so on board!" I see what you did there.
Sigourney's reaction to the Chompers was hilarious! 😂
Thanks for the great reaction! Seems like the wine was flowing LOL! But the film is really fun..if you want to see one with the same type of plot watch "Three Amigos" it is hysterical. Thanks again!
Yes! You two look like you were really enjoying the film.
Melissa is great! Enjoyed your music.
Another fine reaction, edited by a sweetie-pie!
If you want to watch a feel-good movie (have tissues handy), then try this:
"Always" (1989)
Directed by Steven Speilberg
Staring:
Richard Dreyfuss
Holly Hunter
John Goodman
Audrey Hepburn
(Yes, THAT Audrey!)
Christy, please have Melissa back!
That was one of the most magical days of my life 🥰
20:08 "Why are villains ugly?" - Cristy. That's a trope that goes back to myths and legends. For example the Greek Medusa, who had snakes rather than hair, and turned those who gaze on her to stone. Frankenstein's monster is a more recent example. In modern media it is a shorthand convention - if they are ugly, they must be bad.
They sound so fun! I've never been to one of them
Of all the videos I've watched on your channel, this was definitely the funnest. I would love to see you and Meli react to more fun and comedic movies.
I love hearing this!!! I definitely will record more videos with Meli, promised!!
Hello Cristy!😊 Nice to see your friend Melissa back again! She is cute and has a nice voice.😉👩🏻🎤 This film was voted by Star Trek fans as one of the best Star Trek films.🏆 You guys are mean. You were laughing when poor Mathazar was being tortured.😄 Oh, Guy is actor Sam Rockwell. He was in "Iron Man 2" and "Charlie's Angels". Yep Melissa, they did the South Korean finger heart thing in Squid Games Season 2.😉 Great reactions to this very well made film, Guys!!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 You should have Melissa back more often.😉
You are hilarious together 🤣 And, yes, you should totally watch the Austin Powers movies together! And holy...wow Meli, what an amazing singing voice 😲
No, Missi Pyle (Laliari/Jane Doe) did not play the stepmother in The Parent Trap. That was played by Elaine Hendrix.
As always, another great reaction! Keep up the great work. It is appreciated!
Thank you! Will do!
Thank you, Meli!
How did the aliens see the show? Maybe you didn't know all TV shows are transmitted around the world and into space.
Into space???
Futurama explores the concept also, but on a much more realistic timeline
@@CristyReacts Yes, you see it also in the movie Contact. Radio and TV signals broadcast over the air will go out into space. Granted, they'll get weaker and weaker as they spread out, but with the right equipment, an alien civilization could detect them, and watch/listen to Earth's old TV/radio shows.
@@LordVolkov there was a movie in the 1980s about kids getting messages from an adolescent alien who picked up on earth broadcasts. Can't remember the movie's name, though.
@@ArtamStudio Explorers???
Great reaction to a great movie. Meli is a welcome addition and you play off each other well. Meli your music sounds great and I'm digging your vibe. Call me crazy but it's giving Alanis Morissette to me.
Awesome! Give us more Meli !!!
This movie was the first time I realized that Tim Allen was actually a really good looking man.
A piece of trivia I heard. The ship's registration number begins with 'NTE' - 'Not The Enterprise'.
at on Star Trek convention William Shatner blew up at the fans yelling "It's just a television show!"
that was a skit on Saturday Night Live. Jon Lovitz was one of the nerd fans he yelled at. You can find it somewhere within the TH-cam universe.
i love all of your movies but this was you and a bestie with wine watching one of my favorite films. Great fun reaction! Melisa is charming and funny and sings beautifully.🥰🥰love you both, thanks for the laughs!👍👍😁
We had a blast filming this one!
Although not noted for his comedy roles. Alan Rickman did make one off appearances in couple of UK sitcoms and a comedy show. He also appeared in a UK comedy film "Blow Dry" about a fictional World Hairdressing Championship and "Love Actually".
That actor is Sam Rockwell, he's one of the guys that tries to copy Tony Stark's tech in Iron Man 2. He's outstanding in the movie Moon (2009) where he's the only character.
Great reaction to one of my five favorite movies! Regarding episode title: a huge proportion of Star Trek fans can tell you *every* episode title for their favorite Trek series. For real!
Christy, you were right when you 1st said, Utah before Arizona. Goblin Valley State Park in Utah was the location for the Rock planet.
Two actors here from the movie Dodgeball 1.Laliari/Jane Doe alien played by Misi Pyle 2.Brandon the super fan = Justin Long
Allen Rickman "you broke the bloody ship"
The guy playing Guy is Sam Rockwell. He played Justin Hammer in Iron Man 2, the Weapons Dealer.
When Gwen saw the Chompper she didn't say
"Forget that", She said "Eff" that. Unless you've got an original copy and that's why you edited it out.
