      I assume only working adults would be taking on a project like this. If you work 8-9 hours a day and take care of a home on the weekends, you really only have a few hours of full on gaming every week.
      I run a system like this, and the electric bill increase is noticeable, but it isn’t as bad as you would think. I spend more on running my air conditioning (that is the real hole in my wallet).
      But if you were a student or still living at home and gaming and watching videos/streams 8-9 hours a day… then yeah, that would do a number on the bill for sure.

    Too bad Intel blocked AVX-512 support for their newer CPUs, even for newer versions of their 12th gen CPUs (post-May 2022). That really helps with PS3 emulation.

    • @korchevatel
      @korchevatel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      7950X does have AVX-512 support, BTW. I wonder if it will give the CPU an edge over 13900K, considering they're tied according to benchmarks.

    • @martinantelo7086
      @martinantelo7086 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@korchevatel According to RPCS3 it doesn't, because while AMD new processors have AVX512 their floating point performance is way worse than Intel's so in the end they're more or less evenly matched
      They wrote that on their Twitter

    • @mingyi456
      @mingyi456 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@martinantelo7086 I thought it was because amd's implementation of avx512 was by double pumping 256 bit instructions, instead of actually having 512 bit hardware like intel? But there is still a performance improvement from using it because the instructions become more compact, saving on i/o bandwidth. The main reason to do this is to avoid having very complex hardware which takes up a lot of die space and produces a lot of heat (which was why intel has such a large avx512 offset, which meant the potential performance improvement is reduced significantly, although still better than amd's implementation)

    • @armeniancrusader301
      @armeniancrusader301 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Escapist Entertainment™ Not 10 times the PC, an 8 kilowatt electric motor is literally nothing its just 10 horsepower, you need at least like 80 kilowatts in total to even move the car wich would be split up between 4 as all wheels have one electric motor (as far as I know) and for car enthusiasts like me that’s nothing as that EV will be really slow and there will be no fun in driving it. Electric cars are just very power hungry so if you don’t have solar cells then an EV ain’t worth it because the electricity bill will be sky high. An electric car uses much more kilowatts than your entire house does in 2 weeks when you drive it everyday.

    • @armeniancrusader301
      @armeniancrusader301 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dion4037 And besides clean source of power, if you don’t have solar then it ain’t worth it as your electricity bill wil be sky high and if you’re a car enthusiast like me who likes those loud V8 engines, smooth and powerful inline 6s and V10s / V12s that shake the ground (a few months ago a Lamborghini Huracan wich has a V10 engine drew besides me and the ground was vibrating for a few seconds) then an EV isn’t the type of car you’d really want.

    Awsome build, The emulation performance is crazy.
    However i wouldn't even consider a 850w psu for this build as a 4090 draws around 350w-450w + 150w-300w for the 13900k for your example of spiderman 4k at 614w that is getting very close to shutting down due to transient power spikes from the GPU if you have the CPU under load from something like streaming as well.

    That cyperpunk performance cannot be right. DLSS is probably on without you realizing it. Native 4k with max settings and raytracing will get you around 40fps with the 4090.

      @@TruthDoesNotExist Finally I see someone being reasonable. I don’t understand why all the people want to upgrade after only 4-5 years ? Even with an i7 4th gen all the games run fine at ultra settings with over 60 FPS, everyone upgrades so often like they watch the numbers of benchmark tests everyday.
      But yeah that 12 core (is it two 6 core Xeons ?) CPU from 2008 is a really decent room heater and it is more than welcome in this upcoming winter in Europe.

      @@armeniancrusader301 I have multiple, one is 2 6 core xeons and one is a 2011 16 core 32 thread xeon with 32 gigs of ram with a 1080 and 1070 TI gpu. most people upgrade but they are not even gamers, they just do web browing. I bought a 16 gig i7 thinkpad w530 with an ssd for 100 dolllars and i use it for gimp and video editing and so far its not slow and its a ten year old machine. at the third of the cost of a useless chromebook

    • @armeniancrusader301
      @armeniancrusader301 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TruthDoesNotExist Yeah this is also the reason why one should buy a >1000$ decent 13 inch laptop or PC since they’re made of high quality plastic or aluminium, never break and with a PC all you need to do is upgrade the GPU if you game and you’ll be fine rather than a 300-400$ Pentium PC or laptop that’ll break in a few years and will also be useless as low end hardware ages really fast and if you can’t immediately go out and buy a decent PC then save money over the months or years and get a decent laptop or PC or just get an old high end laptop or PC like your Thinkpad. I have a PC with a six core Intel i7 970, 16GB RAM and GTX 1070 Ti (originally GTX 280) and it costed about 1899$ back then.

      @@TruthDoesNotExist And the best thing about those old PCs is that they’re really inefficient compared to modern PCs with 12th gen CPUs so they put out a lot of heat wich is also one of the reasons I won’t replace my PC in the next 5-10 years.
