I have lots of respect for that Swiss goaltender. She kept her team in the game for over 30 minutes, before the floodgates finally opened. To be the best, you gotta beat the best, and in the 22 iterations of this tournament, only Finland (at home, playing in Espoo) has managed to pull off the upset and play in the gold medal game instead of one of the superpowers (they beat Canada, and took the Americans to a shootout before losing*)...but I see that changing in the future as more countries invest more in this sport, developing better players and hiring better coaches and trainers. Sooner or later, a team other than Canada or the USA will win this tournament (and/or the Olympic Womens' hockey tournament). *I think they actually should've won (and a lot of men and women who played the game both professionally and internationally, agree); Finland scored in overtime, and after a 10 minute review, their goal was overturned because of non-incidental contact with the goaltender outside of her crease...but for some reason, the American GOALTENDER got a penalty, suggesting that the contact was the fault of the goaltender, and not the Finnish skater. That was probably the most bizarre ruling I've ever seen in international hockey (men or women) - Finland got robbed, and I feel really bad for them.
The true hockey fans do care we root for all countries and most of us would tip our hats to the japanese team for that 1-0 loss since they arent used to international hockey

That push in the last 20 seconds wasn't needed. I don't like laying back with a big lead I'm a pile it on guy normally but it's a medal game not a round robin. We could leave them with some extra dignity there.

IIHF rules include no intentional contact: specifically, laying sticks and bodies on opposing players. The Swiss player cross checked the Cda player, from behind, into the boards, causing a head first, heavy contact into the glass. Without the wire, helmet, pads, the Cda player could have suffered a grave injury. The expulsion is entirely warranted, and perhaps fined.
I see many weaknesses, inexperience, and concentration lapses in the Cda team. In 3 games, Canada has come apart in the final minutes. Hope the ladies can tighten up their game for the next game vs USA. The USA is on a mission and will play to win at all costs.
