The Canadian coach is looking for an explanation, "It's rigged and the IIHF wants this match up to have as much drama and parody as possible."
Side note: it actually could have been onside because this video doesn't have an angle that shows Knight's feet and the puck crossing the line in the same frame. I'm just talking shit. But I find it highly unlikely it was onside based on Knight's position.

That was the most incompetent call I've ever seen. None of those officials should call another game. And the TSN announcers just glossed over that call "They might have had a better angle ..." The puck was outside of the zone, she was fully inside when the pass hit her. How is that not offside? I think that they wanted the drama of a US comeback. "This game had everything ...". They should have been screaming about how bad that call was, or at least demanding to understand how the linesmen saw it that way. Nothing.
At the end of the day it showed how these refs and linesmen are not equipped to officiate a game at this level. I think back to Canada vs USA in an Olympic gold medal game. The linesman couldn't get out of the way and tripped the Canadian. The US player shot the puck down the ice because of that and it hit the empty net post. Then in overtime Wickenheiser gets tripped on a breakaway. It's called a penalty shot. No wait, she changes it to a two minute penalty. Under pressure that ref had no game. Meanwhile there were NHL refs and linesman - who were there for the men's hockey - cooling their heals. I love women's sports and I think that these women deserve the best on ice officials possible, and I sure didn't see this then and certainly not tonight.

    • @sports2hedz542

There wasn't a single angle from the video above that actually showed where her feet were when the puck crossed the blue line. So it is possible they had a better angle that showed it. It "seemed" offside to me but if you replay it even at 0.25x you will find there's no definitive evidence from the angles given (mainly because the frame rate on YT is too low).

I love(sarcasm) how the TSN commentators called it offside after watching replays and then started praising the American players for their tenacity and never quit attitude, complimenting the American players after a totally ridiculous call. Say what you will about Don Cherry but he would've said it was total BS regardless of the paycheque he was getting! The Canadian TSN commentators should be ashamed! What message does this send to young girls, like my daughters, playing hockey and supporting their hockey heroes, that the game they love is corrupt! it wasn't even a judgement call, the video evidence is VERY clear! Funny how TSN stopped showing replays after the bad call!!! All you have to do is watch the USA/Finland gold medal game where it took 20 minutes to review the winning Finland goal. If you ladies want to be taken seriously stand up for integrity in the game and not just paycheques!! Just because we won in a shootout this shouldn't be swept under the rug! When did a call on the ice become a jury deliberation, where one ref holds out on a bad call until the rest of the officials fold??? That call should've been made in 30 seconds

What a joke. She was clearly offside on that late goal. Pathetic. The game should have been done at 3 to 1 Canada. Smarten up guys.

Betting has DESTROYED sports and so few people realize this...yet. Think of rooting against your favorite team because you have a bet on the opposition based on the odds?!?!? Happens often! Sports betting has opened the door to "losers" - this is not intended as an insult. It's a FACT! Here's the premise of casinos and sports betting: NEVER keep track of your expenditures. Just celebrate the few wins. In this way, you are ignorant of just how much of your hard-earned money you've burned.
