"Education really started when i dropped out of school". How true.
Watching this after 10 years again ... Thrilled how what I believe to be one of the fundamental pieces which influences my carrier ... XD
Same
I love how Ryan is basically doing exactly what he is saying for over half of the video. His book isn't exactly on how creatives should market their work but rather how the media industry has turned into this sort of tragic monster for the public. He is focusing this interview solely on the fact that he does talk a lot about marketing brands and reputation, so he can sell his book through the show. It's genius and manipulative, I like it.
great role model for young professionals especially those pursuing marketing. managing a company with Student Painters this summer and I listen to all of his audiobooks throughout the day. The Obstacle is the Way gets me motivated for getting through my current challenges and Trust Me I'm Lying gets me excited for my future in marketing. I would love to meet him one day. Great interview!
It's amazing how well this kid comprehends the intricacies behind human behavior. It is an incredibly powerful knowledge that most people would love to have.
A RISING TIDE FLOATS ALL BOATS - right on - such good good stuff, thanks guys!
The intro is epic!
Could you make a video about how you came into the photography scene Chase? How you got started and when your "big break" (if there was one) happened.
Will re watch to absorb the good stuff..thank you
Ryan's book is a great read! Read it a few weeks ago.
btw, just bought the book. Looking forward to digging in.
BEAUTIFUL
Really enjoyed this. Ryan seems to know his stuff. I was surprised by how "normal" Ryan is. That's not necessarily a bad thing.
Really cool show, still relevant today...
There are less cases of people dropping out and making millions than there are people dropping out and not becoming something.
There are also people who didn't go to college and have made millions.
In the end, it's all about are you willing to work hard.
what camera was Chase using in the beginning of the video?
When show will be coloured....Sir
Maybe never ;) B+W is intentional
Really awesome stuff! Thanks :)
So Cool
❤❤
The German word at 1:06:35 is "Fingerspitzengefühl" :-)
Finger tip feel
So freaking helpful
the color is in the conversation
Why is it Black and white?
1:18:50 - his story of how he got into American Apparel.
This isn't bad -- good job.
And now this guy is a stoic. Interesting.
what he said in the shortest amount of time
It not what you know, it who you blow
HP is the sponsor but hey let's use Mac!
He mentioned 48 laws of power! flip, I have that sitting right here. My brother got it for me for christmas thinking it would be good for me. I am going to deffinitely read it now.
If that makes you happy.
Be useful to people and they'll reciprocate. Sure. But that begs the question of how you can be useful to people, and there's a bit of a chicken-egg problem there. How do you _get started_?
i should drop out too, by the time i'm 24, i sure will be working in Mickey D's, serving the fries & stuff
disagree, he's focused, passionate and genius media manipulator/ marketer, props!
Haha! Okay :)
I think and epl3 or something
Only because there is so much negativity every episode about the lack of color. Chase I dig the Monochrome!!!
because life doesn't always have to be in color :)
Chase, I just can't get over your use of the word "pimp" 3 times in 5 minutes. Can we collectively get over this terms as a cool slang word?
it's not shocking at Ryan's age and success. Young people are naturally bigger risk takers. Older people are more conservative and protective of their security. At 21 you can be so bold as far less is at stake. Others that have spent their life establishing their position, building equity and so on, and can't afford to lose a job our lose face by being so unconventional or boat rockers, if you will.
Neither am I.
So he is responsible for the change in American Apparel's marketing which is a step BACKWARDS from what was good before. They felt that they needed color in the ads. When they did that they lost the edge..
I should've drove over the mountains to be part of your audience. Instead I put my money where my mouth is and go out and shoot. Hopefully I can make it over the mountains next time.
Mr Donald Trump used that tactic to the best 40:50
Let the man speak please, respectfully.
I was over excited in my earlier days... I've worked on improving that over the years. Appreciate the feedback and thanks for watching 🙌🏼
Chase, stop interrupting the guy when he talks. That's the only thing that this show could improve...
Ad hominem.. Say something that is not about my picture and I may even discuss this with you.
hate how this Chase is sucking up to his very-very-very best friend Ryan
It is now 2013, and it is still not sure if Mr Jarvis wants to be a photogapher or just a lame talk show host.
He sucks doing both. Not good use of time.
lol are you paid to be here?
Ad hominem. My face is irrelecant to the matter I commented on more than 8 months ago.
