That blackjack style of play is old school. That's how they played at all the casinos way back when.

I love this casino--I've stayed here several times. It's a hidden gem. Slots are extensive and current.

Stayed in two master suites for my wedding weekend with our entire bridal party and Immediate family back in 2018 and it was amazing, love the Aliante. Great video Pompsie!

This was a great review of the Aliante. I stayed there for the first time last week although I've played there a few times. Everything Pompsie observed about the Aliante was spot on. It's on my list of the "go-to" off-strip properties to stay at.
I love the Aliante. Never stayed but loved the casino. It is super chill and relaxed. As I get older I appreciate a more quiet ambiance with tons of locals. VLR turned me on to this place and it is great.

What a great video. I'm going to check that place out next time in Vegas. Looks like a classy place to stay. As for the black jack/21 game and swiping your cards and/or then sliding under cheques, that is the proper way. When I started playing in casinos you HAD to do that or they would kick you off the table.
I stayed there for a night a couple years ago when I was in town for work. The room was really nice. It felt very premium, like a room at Golden Nugget in the Rush Tower. The bathroom and the especially the shower was top notch. Loved that there was security at the elevators! Casino for sure is Gold Coast vibes with a Red Rock look. The slots are well spaced out, and it was very chill and relaxed. The area around it is nice too, if you need to find a store, a 7-11, or whatever. No more buffet though, which I thought was decent. It's definitely a drive (have to take the Beltway to get there), but it's worth it if you're like me and my family, who likes to visit every (nicer) casino we can while in town. Good review! Cheers.

This makes me so happy now that hotels are reaching out to you, i remember when we all were saying this day would come. We live close by and their steakhouse Mrkt is our favorite special occasion spot to eat! Food and service is top notch! If you haven't tried it you definitely should! Love the vibe of the casino and the hotel.. the rooms are quite nice and much more affordable than the strip! Great place for family to stay close by when in town when looking for a nice off strip hotel!

I already love Aliante.. Usually pretty busy when Strip rooms are also full. Lots of locals as well. I have been lucky there. Lots of good slots-it is def a large casino. Excellent restaurant choices. Like the camera glasses. I want.
BJ was traditionally dealt face down...from a single or double deck. Besides making counting more difficult, it forces players to add up their own scores...a real challenge for some these days.

Exactly that was the normal way to play with single deck blackjack from the ‘80’s thru 2000

Of course, but you don't have as much time to examine everybodys cards as when they are coming out of a shoe one at a time and sitting there exposed until each hand is completed.
@@dmoney7184 The way it used to be is if you busted, you turned your cards over and the dealer took them and your money right then. Once you decided to stay and you put your cards under the chips, after the outcome of the dealers hand, dealer is the one that would turn your cards over. I miss those days.

Man, booking a room here was ridiculous for me. I tried to call to get information on the two-room suite but there's never anyone answering their reservation line. 3 different days at 3 different times including holding for 45 minutes and the recording keeps referring back to the website which has almost no info. And the price for a deluxe room was way overpriced in my opinion. I reserved a room for now but I'm thinking of finding a hotel farther from where I need to be just to get better service and prices.
I'm a long time viewer love your content. I'm also a dealer/supervisor going to be returning to Vegas in a couple months. You can count cards all day long as long as you don't balloon bet. Balloon bet is when you're just raking the money in from the house, and that's when they're going to kick you out. U can fly under the radar, and make money discreetly........
That's the way black jack was delt in the old days. I prefer it that way and am glad to hear that it is coming back.
Counting cards is not illegal, and most casinos do the 2 cards face down on single and double deck, less cards easier to count than a 6 deck shoe I guess. Awesome video, I might stay here for my trip in October.

I got those glasses for Christmas! They play music too! They are pretty cool!
When the dealer deals single or double deck, it’s called a “pitch game” where they deal from a hand-held deck(s). Players hold the cards with one hand and tuck them under the bet to stand, scratch the table to hit, flip the cards when busted or when splitting/doubling.
6/8 deck games are dealt from a shoe and players don’t touch the cards.

Great review as usual Pompsie! They deal the player cards down for that exact reason you mentioned, makes it more difficult to count/ track cards. Red Rock I believe was one of the first to do it. Stay safe and healthy to you both!

Pompsie with regards to the blackjack most double deck and single deck black is dealt “pitch” or where you hold the cards
Second counting cards is 100% not cheating it’s simply increasing your bet when you have a mathematical edge and decreasing when you don’t along with altering your strategy. As a card counter it hurts hearing things like card counting is cheating. If you’d like to see what card counting really like I’d gladly take you around on my next Vegas trip.

Pompsie!! You are forgetting The Gold Coast Casino. Located within walking distance of the Rio ! Owned by Boyd gaming. Boyd has a shuttle that leaves there starting at about 10 A.M. and then goes to the Orleans and other Boyd properties throughout the day.

My only hand pay ever was $2000 playing BINGO🤑 The BJ is a Boyd thing as well. I remember playing BJ at The Fremont (Boyd property) and they dealt the cards down. I like it cause you can hold your cards. #mathishard🤣😂 dang the pool area is chill😎👍

That's so weird. My Pops and I need to go to Vegas to visit an old friend of his and I found this to be the closest hotel to her so I'm intending on booking a room in a month or 2 and boom....you review it. Way cool.
That water in the tub falling from the ceiling sounds like a cow peeing on a rock. LOL!
Went there first time to use a $10 free play coupon from the America casino guide. After that I always stop there if I'm up NW-LV way and have a little free time.
Counting cards is not cheating. Blackjack is a game where using your brain is required and counters just use their brains a little too much for casinos’ liking. The cards being dealt face down also don’t prevent counting. :)

Was the blackjack dealer dealing out of his hand or out of a shoe? Pitch blackjack is when the dealer deals out of their hand and it is generally dealt face down. It is the normal way single and double deck blackjack is played. Occasionally, you will see double deck dealt from a shoe. I have never seen a game dealt from a shoe that was not dealt face up.

Business class hotels in Japan have that same sort of automatic bidet toilet. Hope they add them to Strip hotels.
