Homura took Incubators place, she's able to make contracts with girls now. That's why she's getting the phone calls. That mysterious girl is one of these who made the contract with Homura instead with Kyubey. How do I know that? Her outfit have Homura's magical girl outfit patterns + she uses a bow that is identical to Homura's one + you can see Akuma Homura's Symbol at the background when that girl used the bow at the beginning of the trailer. Also, in Magia Record game it's said that Akuma Homura is able to grant wishes. She want to destroy the Wraiths as she said at the end of Rebellion, and she's using girls from the cities around to make it faster without waste energy

And why walpurgisnaught exists the witch is a fusion of multiple homuras from multiple timelines merged together probably thats my theory but would make Sense If you think the association between Gretchen and Walpurgisnaught has been the two parts of an hourglass.

The Moon card definetly fits here!
    - It's a card that represents dualities within our psyche and emphasises a split between our unconcious desires/instincts and our current awareness of things.
    - It's also very much a card of lies, especially the ones we tell ourselves. It's a card of self-restriction and self-denial and is often read as a warning about the unsustainability of not being in touch with your true emotions.
    - It can also just mean someone is being two-faced and/or decieving you.
In any case, it's mainly about (self-)deception and dualities, which imo fit very well with Homura's current situation.

notice how sayaka when transformed has bandages tied like a ribbon all over her face and when in her civilian form she has bandages on her neck this probably means that she lost her healing powers (we know stuff like this can happen because in the manga it's revealed that kyouko used to have an illusion ability that she later lost) and the reason why i think sayaka lost her abllity is because at the end of rebellion homura said that she is giving sayaka a chance to live a human life again (not a magical girl life but a normal human life) also in the new world homura has created kyosuke arm was already healed so sayaka never had the chance to make a healing wish for him so her ability may be different in the fourth movie or she may not have a magical ability at all

i like kyoko too. kyoko seems to understand how cruel the world is and adapted to it, making her a strong fighter. she’s a sweetheart but toughened her skin to suit the world. homura can see that too, i think she relates to kyoko.

@@solm.6184people like Sayaka and Mami so much because they are flawed + relatable. A lot of people feel similarly to the idea of selfishness / being anything other than a selfless people pleaser is selfishness as Sayaka does, as do they relate to the depression she found herself in in the later episodes. Meanwhile, almost everyone has suffered through isolation + loneliness at some point in their life, and how it’s reflected in Mami likely hits home. A lot of people also have to mask, whether it’s from neurodivergency or something closer to Mami’s.
Additionally, on top of this- when they get the time to be- they are likeable characters. Sayaka’s a naive, sure, but well meaning person who just wants to do right in the world, and isn’t afraid to be bold about what she believes is justice, even if it’s that same justice that leads to her downfall. From what we see of Mami, especially Rebellion and the manga, she’s sweet + caring / motherly who just doesn’t want to be so alone anymore / have to constantly fake. Both of their tragedies are written well, hence why they are so well liked.
Also, don’t forget all the cast, technically excluding Homura, are kids. Of course, this doesn’t just make all of their actions excusable, but it makes them more forgivable. Of course Sayaka would be naive, she hadn’t ever seen the worst of the world and thought she could be a hero, but almost every kid thought they were going to go on to do something great at one point, that grandiose just had much more severe repercussions for her.

On first glance, I immediately saw Homura’s summoned phone as the shape of a grief seed. Circle at the middle/top. Point at the bottom.
The moon on the tarot card reminds me a bit of the Incubators’ spindly machinery studying Homura in Rebellion. With one real shot of Kyubey in this trailer and it being his full screen “I’m watching you” face… I gotta wonder what renewed role the Incubators might play…

Madoka was not 'passive' in the original series! Have we forgotten 1) She saves several lives when she puts hers at risk and throws the contaminated bleach out in episode 4? 2) Even knowing the risks she goes in with Kyouko to try and rescue Sayaka when she's in her witch form? Remember, Madoka is a MERE HUMAN at this time, that takes some courage! Crap, both Madoka and Sayaka enter at least one witches labyrinth when they go out with Mami and see what the life of a magical girl is like. 3) Episode 6 or 7 (forget which) when she actively - once again as a MERE HUMAN - tries to stop the fight between two magical girls by throwing (unbeknowingst to her OR even the much more experienced Kyouko) Sayaka's actual soul off the bridge? She's trying to rob her of what she thinks is a magical stone that gives Sayaka the ability to transform - no transformation, no fight! 4) She talks to her mom for advice on how to help Sayaka , even though she doesn't let her mom know the precise problem. 5) She's always asking Kyubey (as well as Homura) questions. 6) She actively goes to Homura's strange magical girl apartment to try and convince her (Homura) to let Madoka help her with Walpurgishnacht. Instead, Homura begs her to lot Homie save her BFF instead. Madoka shows great bravery, great loyalty to her friends, and even an amount of self-initiative in the OS way before she turns into Godoka in the last episode. People who claim she's passive are probably the same people that spend the first seven to eight episodes bitching about why she won't turn into a magical girl and then the last 4 episodes bitching about why she should NOT turn into a magical girl. Meanwhile they overlook the importance of INFORMATION to enable Madoka to make a fully informed wish. Only in that last timeline in the original series does Madoka finally really understand the horror and purpose of the Magical Girl system and only with that information could she make a fully informed wish to reform it and become The Law of Cycles. But she's not a fucking passive character simply because she's nice, and kind, and soft-spoken and refuses to turn into a magical girl while she's constantly learning new reasons that being a magical girl SUCKS. In fact she's being wise.

@@clearandsweet i mean, she WAS passive for most of the show, relatively speaking. i mean she didn't really do much in the series until that point w sayaka's witch and that was what, ep 9 out of 12? sayaka, kyoko, homura, and kyubey (the little shit) were the ones advancing the story, she was more or less a bystander until the tail end of the series. that's kind of the point though. madoka is being all but threatened by homura not to make a contract, and yet kyubey is manipulating her into sitting there and watching her friends fight to the death in hopes of forcing her to. she's supposed to be powerless. not to say she's a bad character, that is realistically how a human would react as was mentioned. still tho, doesn't change her actions or lack thereof.

I mean isn't that what starts Sayaka's Witch transformation when she finds out her 'soul gem' is her soul and its outside her body? If Madoka doesn't try to stop the magical girl fight by throwing what she thinks is a magical transformation stone over the bridge , Sayaka might not have turned into a witch during this timeline or at least not until much later in.

@@remo27 that was the ONE time madoka actually interfered until the very end of the show after her mother all but told her to with some... interesting advice. then she refrained from doing it again bc yeah almost killing ur friend is pretty traumatic. again, i'm speaking relatively here. the other characters j got more focus and so she as the supposed "main character" who wasn't doing all that much came off as comparatively more passive with her constant worrying and inability to act out of fear.
also i'd like to note that in many other timelines sayaka comes to the same realization and turns into a witch anyways, so no madoka throwing the soul gem was never the only way for sayaka to find out. one of the writers even stated that in any timeline sayaka turns into a magical girl, she eventually falls into the same despair and turns into oktavia.
anyway, not even sure what you're really getting at here, many agree that madoka was a pretty passive character until the end of the anime. not sure why you're getting so defensive about it, it was j my two cents and at the end of the day it doesn't make madoka less of a well written character, it's just characterization.

Another thing about the moon tarot card is that it is often illustrated with a dog, wolf, and a lobster coming out of the water. The dog repressents the taimed mind whilst the wolf represents our uncontrolled dark urges which could symbolise the duality between Homura and Homlucifer. The lobster emerging out of the depths of the water symbolises coming out of the dark or coming out of hiding but can also represent the pilgrimage to carry out our higher/divine purpose and that fits well with Madoka. Madoka is entity that now lives in an unknowable void only coming out to whisk magical girls from their most darkest point to... magical girl heaven I guess.
This is just something I thought was interesting.

    • @nancyjay790
      @nancyjay790 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Also a possible point -- the dog and wolf are both from the same evolutionary group while lobster is different. In my view Mami is similar to the dog-- strong and fierce, but socialised. Kyoko is the wolf-- capable of great loyalty and devotion but a wild creature. So, Sayaka, who has water affinity and powers, is the lobster -- different to the others, can't be predicted to act as the others, coming from an unknowable depth.
      Or not.

I have two guesses on the skeletal elements on the phone receiver in the poster.
    1. The spine in the handle and the hand bones in the speaker are meant to represent the skeletal Homulily, and that this phone receiver is some sort of extension of Homura's witch form. If this is something Homu Prime is wielding, maybe this is something like the Doppel from Magia Record?
    2. The phone receiver has tiny little red beads floating around with the spine, and Homucifer is implied to be the one setting up contracts by way of phonecall instead of the Incubators. If this isn't something Homura's weilding, this phone might be made out of Kyubey's spine and other incubator parts, and that's why Homucifer is able to make contracts. When you were going frame-by-frame as Homucifer summoned that phone, I noticed that it manifests by way of multiple red orbs congealing into its form, all of them looking like Kyubey eyes.

A couple of things I notice
42:26 you can see the siluette of somebody hanging inside a circular clock, calling back that picture of Madoka being tied to a clock thing, simbolising how Homura's attempts to save her made Madoka the most important person in the world, and would make Madoka the most powerful witch, and later Homura takes that place too.
43:40 There's actually three Homura's in this tower, and the Homura sitting on a chair with pins at the back may be a metaphor of Lucifer being trap in the ninth circle of hell, Homura is the creator of her laberinth but she is as trap inside it just as Lucifer created hell but it's trapped at the bottom of it
45:29 Sayaka's hair pin is a musical simbol, it means fortissimo-very loud, so the bandages could also mean that Homura silenced her, since Sayaka was always hostile and loud about not trusting her, but Sayaka will eventually break free at the end
About the Walpurgisnacht, the name mean Night of the Witches, a fitting name for the most powerful witch before Madoka. In the manga, one of her attacks was to create shadow versions of Mami, Sayaka and Kyoko, so the Homura at the begining of the trailer could be a clon made by Walpurgisnacht to communicate with the other girls, and my theory is that the girl we see in 25:00 and 33:09 is also a clon that copies the apparience and attacks of other magical gilrs

to me, this mysterious magical girl has a mixture of Homura and Madoka's original Magical Girl garb
The short puff sleeves are representative of Madoka, while the elbow arm-sleeves are similar to the long sleeves that Homura wears, the ribbon + bow in the back is also reminiscent of Homura.
Then there's the diamond designs throughout, the top, or more over the over-shirt has that sort of.. four pointed end that Homura's has, but it's less like a jacket and more like a corset-type deal. Pinafore kinda dress. The skirt is pretty similar with somewhat similar shoes.

38:10: I wonder if this scene is a symbol of Homucifer usurping Madokami. Mostly because this location looks like a edenic garden, and the large central tree reminds me of the Tree of Life-esque symbol that Madokami manifested when she destroyed Kriemhild Gretchen. Yet Homucifer is at the center, completely out of place under a black umbrella, almost like she's standing in the way of approaching the tree. (There's probably an argument for being the serpent, but honestly, there's only so much to go on.)

This might be a big stretch, since I don't know if this was the case in the original ballet, but in 'Princess Tutu' (another magical girl show) the character Drosselmeyer, the storyteller/toymaker from 'The Nutcracker' (and, in 'Tutu' at least, something of an antagonist) is depicted wearing a long cape with a salamander on it. And in Rebellion, Homura's labyrinth is heavily inspired by 'The Nutcracker' ballet. Also, in 'Princess Tutu,' Drosselmeyer has the power to bring stories to life, and as it turns out, the characters only exist in one of his stories--The Prince and the Raven--fated to act out their roles, although they do end up breaking away from their tragic fates in the end. Even Drosselmeyer eventually find out that he is *also* a character in the story and was merely playing his part the entire time. This all sounds very similar to Homura in 'Rebellion': she unknowingly crafts a perfect world for Madoka within her labyrinth where the other girls are only really there to act out their roles, but in the end she realizes that this world is only a fabrication she created, and she and the others are able to break away from that fantasy and return to the real world.
As I said, I have no idea if this 'Princess Tutu' connection is just a coincidence or if I'm reading too much into it, and I couldn't find anything to suggest that Drosselmeyer is meant to be represented by a salamander in the original 'Nutcracker' story, but their similarities in 'Tutu' and Homura being represented by a salamander in 'Rebellion,' as well, were too much for me to ignore.

As a real Practicing witch (In the spiritual practice sense) I can tell you that the german Walpurgisnacht was basically how christians tried to slander the pagan holiday of Litha wich is the celebration of summer and light also known as Summer Solstace. So really walpurgisnacht would be if accurate in the show kinda imply a lie? Or possibly a corruption of a real witch thing. Since you know, Litha is a dancing holiday with some practice elements also being part of it so in the context of walpurgisnacht in the real world a fun summer tradition was rewritten to be this sinister dance and orgy for the devil that witches did according to the church so yeah. Might be a good way to look at the way this series portrays that witch because it seems like it fits. like how the harmless holiday was turned on it's head and corrupted like the witch is upside down and possibly a magical girl that was corrupted like all the others by mental distress and such. Maybe it is homura too after all she is a time bending god in this so it wouldn't surprise me if the devil homura had a different witch form that possibly in the end means that she trapped herself into a death loop with her time manipulation closing the circle with becoming walpurgisnacht and implying that her signing that contract alone made walpurgisnacht a possibility. I genuinely like that idea cause homura being stuck in a hell spiral has always been her issue so it wouldn't be too shocking. And jI think it's just more interesting than walpurgisnacht being some random magical girl or whatever. I mean it's a monsterously powerful doomsday witch tied to a festivity that was deliberately corrupted to demonize real witches so the idea of homura becoming the thing that made her so miserable would be really interesting imo.

When you were panning on that shot of Homura Prime on the pile of books, with Homulily's familiars cast all along the sides and the bottom of that tower I was thinking about that one story that's told over and over in the extended material around the Clara Dolls. They always talked about the last of the dolls, "Love," who either had gone away or had yet to arrive, and Homura Prime being cast in the same ensemble as the Clara Dolls makes me think that Ep. 12 Homura is supposed to be that final doll.

    Some notes:
魔獣 is just like a demonic beast of sorts, which is also what I think the things Homura fights in the end of ep 12 are called.
Pretty sure Taniguchi has done character designs for Madoka before, at least I've seen him credited for Animation Director, who normally does the character designs, while Ume Aoki does the original designs, they're not fit for animation, so someone else generally handles that job.
The moon in tarot can be a hidden enemy of sorts, but also in that same vein, unresolved(hidden) trauma.
In this case both apply for Homura. It makes sense she would present as an enemy given she literally calls herself the Devil in Rebellion. Also I'm not sure anyone argued that Homura's character arc in Rebellion was the correct path, just that it makes sense given her unresolved trauma at the end of the tv series, she had some optimism there, but the stuff that happened to her came back to haunt her in Rebellion, it's a coherent arc already, but it also makes sense for part of her to want to fight it, she literally called herself the devil, of course she's always known part of it is wrong, but it came from her love of Madoka so she goes through with it anyway.

13:44 in this shot, a portrait with the roman numeral 18 is seen around what seems to be this Homura's lair. It hit me there: this is a Tarot card or rather an representation of it. In the Tarot Deck of the Major Arcana, 18 is known as the moon, which represents hidden enemies, danger, calumny (false statement), terror, deception, occult forces, and error. If reversed, it represents Instability, inconstancy, silence, and lesser degrees of deception and error. When Homura transforms into a witch, there is a moon behind her, even a half moon during Rebellion.

    Thanks for the nice video.
    廻天(kaiten) means
"To completely change the world's circumstances.",
"The regaining of momentum by something that has lost momentum.".
What this could be referring to could be Walpurgis night, or it could be Madoka.
At 0:20 in Trailer, the kanji character 「愚者」(fool) is superimposed upside down on Homura's face.Since Walpurgis Night is always upside down, this may simply represent Walpurgis Night as a character. Or it may be a superimposition of Homura and Walpurgis Night.
The similarity between Homura and Walpurgis Night has been pointed out since the TV series when Walpurgis Night's setting "The symbol of a fool that spins araund and round" was revealed, and Homura's costume at the beginning of the story resembles Walpurgis Night. I wonder what will happen to her.
Tarot cards may be included as a motif in the next film, since "The Fool" is the 0th card of the Tarot deck, and the 18th card, the Moon, is shown at the beginning of the film. Tarot cards are numbered from 1 to 21, and they are said to be the dreams of the 0th fool.

Okay, I'm at 44:17 and just had to pause for a sec. Because I'm very stunned that you haven't pointed something that seems pretty obvious, to me anyway, and that's the resemblance of Walpurgisnacht to Homulily. Mostly in them both missing upper portions of their heads in some way. The dresses may not resemble each other much in design, but in shape and in somewhat in style period they do. Also, if you see Homulily from the front, her hair parts behind her in a way that would fit evenly against W.Nachts headpiece. It's a thing I was sort of waiting to hear you point out since around the exploding salamander part of the vid, to be honest. I'll finish the vid up now, I just had to get that out of my head.
EDIT: Btw, in my head, Homura Prime, her witch, an Homucifer are distinct from each other, and I know you've pointed out all linking between W.Nacht and Homucifer, but since the two have a degree of separation to me, I think Nacht has at least as much link to Homulily.
EDIT 2: aside from the above, what about the idea that our magical mystery girl with the Bow may be Madoka and Sayakas green-coded-schoolmate-whose-name-escapes-me-atm?

Hmmm this is a very interesting reading but I don't know that it's one I buy into.
I think Homulily as a force represents something different than Walpurgisnacht is being positioned as. Perhaps there is some validity here if WPN ends up being a collection of Homuras, but I am uncertain.

    • @astryd8991
      @astryd8991 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@clearandsweet It might. Time travel being Homura's kit, it was an aspect of it that they didn't quite touch on yet; converging timelines. If the huge clockwork gears weren't enough, maybe the resemblance has nothing to do with Homulily except to visually point out that she's another aspect of Homura.
And now that I use the word, "aspects" are a huge concept in witchcraft and in many mythological deities. In Greek, Hecate is portrayed as a "triple" goddess. Time to go get lost in Wikipedia again...

I feel confident that the phone isnt as massive as it looks in the poster, rather its just close to the camera.
That aside, Id like to point out that on the mouthpiece end of the phone, the skeletal fingers invoke in my mind the image of homulily, homura's witch. So on one end of the phone, a symbol that belonged to homura pre-witch and now represents homucifer, and the other having a symbol of the witch form of homura. Having them on opposing ends of the phone like this further puts them in an adversarial relationship to each other.
A notable motif of the moon tarot card is the subconscious. I think deep down homura regrets in some way her actions at the end of rebellion, and it has manifested itself (not unlike how the witches labyrinths manifest the thoughts going through the original magical girl's heads upon witchification) distinctly splitting homura into the unapologetically selfish Homucifer and the "ep 12 homura" working against her.
This manifested subconscious regret theory can be reinforced by the voices assumed to be homura's familiars saying lines like "release the girl". Essentially I think "ep 12 homura" will join the quartet in attempt to take down and undo homucifer's actions.

I don't think the redesigns technically mean anything especially Sayaka's. Bandages usually are an indication that someone is injured. And considering Sayaka has abnormal healing she couldn't have been injured that badly to the point that she has to use bandages. Especially since in Magia Record she lost an arm and it grew back within milliseconds. So I'm assuming they were just referencing to the concept movie. Not sure what it would be referenced for, but those are the only connections I can make with bandaged Sayaka. Kyoko and Mami don't have any significant redesigns that stand out too much (other than the abnormal art style change), but I'm sure they're important.
Considering how many times Homura popped up in the trailer, the movie will most likely be (mostly) about her. We only get to see Madoka twice within this trailer. One was her by herself, and the other is more focused on Homucifer rather than Madoka. And the new character(s). Based off of what I've seen and based off of my memory, I've only seen two characters that have bow-like abilities/powers(?). Madoka and Iroha. And they were both main characters in their show(s). So this (new) character might be important (?).
    - Just theorizing.
But I'm sure Sayaka does play a major role in the movie considering that she does have those bandages along side her super healing)

(I'd already posted this in the comments of the official teaser, but I also wanted to try putting it here!)
I’ve been waiting for this for SO MANY YEARS so you can BET I watched the teaser OVER AND OVER AND ANALYZED EVERY SINGLE LITTLE DETAIL I COULD BECAUSE I’M LOSING MY MIND WITH HYPE
And if anyone else notices details that I miss please feel free to add on to what I’ve listed here, or tell me if you think I’m mistaken about something!!! I hope you all are as excited as I am!!!!
First! The observable scenes! I’ll cover dialogue and its implications later!
***HEAVY SPECULATION INCLUDED IN THESE RAMBLINGS***
    VISUALS
-The phone rings and immediately we can see a small magical salamander gliding over Homura’s hand to form the phone which she (presumably) is answering. Salamander symbolism is based a lot in “rebirth, immortality, power, and passion.” As many of us may know, it was a pretty substantial part in Homura’s arc in Rebellion, symbolizing her taking Madoka’s godly power for herself and “rebirthing the world in her image, with her power and passion for the one she loved.” It was even a direct design in her soul gem forming an earing when she ascended to her “devil” form at the end of Rebellion, hinted at in the movie’s opening.
-Cut to a shot of the split-in-half moon from the ending of Rebellion, which looks as though it’s been thoroughly dissected by a myriad of apparatuses used for study, (it almost resembles an astrolabe or solar system model.) Additionally, it is surrounded by a border and a roman numeral at the top, (XVIII) or 18. This is probably meant to represent the Tarot Card #18, which is the Moon. This could honestly represent any number of things, or it could just be taken at face value! There are various colored and smaller orbs surrounding it, (possibly the other magical girls?) And there are butterflies that have been punctured by pins, which are common in museums to be observed or studied.
-Next is a shot of Homura herself with the phone, sitting on a raven-feathered salamander throne (emblematic of her design from the end of Rebellion), with the Moon Tarot behind her. Her outfit is a lot more regal and tasteful than ones we’ve seen her in, and it looks like she’s surrounded by reliquaries or Galileo Thermometers?? I’m not sure about them exactly! She seems to be directly looking at and addressing the viewer.
-Next is a LONG sequence of flashback cuts from the previous movies/series, reminding us of everything that Homura has been through (allll those timelines and the times she fought the powerful witch, all those times she saw Madoka die, the events of Rebellion, even), mixed in with descriptions of what Walpurgisnacht is, how [The Law of Cycle] or Madoka, broke the original structure of the universe with her witch-ending wish and dispersed Walpurgis before it could be born. “This World is for Madoka” is most likely meant to imply Homura’s taking of her power and creation of a world in which Madoka could be happy and not have to destroy witches for all time as a concept.
-Next we can see a girl’s hands gathering magic to create an arrow on Homura’s bow, which Homura had inherited from Madoka after she became the Law of Cycles. These look like Homura’s hands at first, but the shot pulls back and we can see that, while the the girl’s outfit has design choices SIMILAR to Homura’s, she does NOT look like Homura, even though the top half of her face is cut off from view. Her hair looks to be light grey/brown, and it is pulled up in a ponytail with her bangs framing her face. Could this be a combination of Homura and Madoka? A Magical girl manifestation of Walpurgisnacht? A new girl entirely??? THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!
-Next we see a shot panning upward of a pair of shoes on a rooftop, with (presumably) the same girl from earlier jumping off of said rooftop. She seems to be wearing the Mitakihara uniform, the uniform of the school Madoka, Sayaka, Mami and Hitomi attend. In plenty of Japanese media, the theme of shoes being taken off before jumping to one’s death is common, (it even featured in the original Madoka show with a victim of a witch’s kiss.) As the girl is falling, she is surrounded by bubbles, and engulfed by a mass of some kind of substance, which then shows many mouths closing. Perhaps she is being devoured in some way? In what way or by who or what I do not know. I do think that her being Madoka is a possibility, but her hair is the same color as the mystery girl and she isn't wearing Madoka's usual white leggings, she's wearing short black socks! And even though it's hard to see, I don't see the ribbons in her ponytails. The "LEGENDARY/BESTIE" thing is definitely werid, no lie xD
-Next we can see the girl from the earlier shots, this time in her (presumably) Magical girl form again, being assailed on all sides by red ribbons. This could be a stylistic thing, or it could (possibly) represent the very popular Japanese “Red String/Thread of Fate.” But something MUCH more likely is that these could be Mami’s ribbons! She seems to struggle and flail up until the last second of this shot before grabbing hold of one of the ribbons. Possibly to fight back? It's also a possibility that she is being SAVED or CAUGHT by these ribbons! Maybe as she's falling?
-The next few shots show an above view of a city bathed in red light with three figures standing atop a building in the center. This will be relevant in a bit.
-Next shot shows Madoka, Sayaka and Hitomi all walking to school together, seemingly hearkening back to the very beginning of the story. Madoka and Sayaka have their usual goofy dynamic while Hitomi watches them while laughing, nothing out of the ordinary here! But then, Madoka notices something. Following this, we get a shot of Homura smiling and under an umbrella, yet the smile seems forced… Pulling back the shot we see her in some kind of fancy ornate courtyard. This seems incredibly overly fancy compared to the Mitakihara Middle School grounds we know, but then again, if we’re to assume this is in Homura’s world, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to assume she’d want to make it as pretty as possible for Madoka. I saw a comment by @/daylinthepopstar and they pointed out that Homura’s umbrella resembles Walpurgisnacht’s dress, which is cool!!! Lots of implications if true! Also! I don’t know why but it looks like Homura is wearing like, Yoga pants or something!!! With sneakers, not her usual full-leg-stockings and school shoes! And black gloves! This is very odd to me!!!
-These next three shots show the other three magical girls gathered and conversing among the cranes bathed in red light over the city from a few shots earlier. All three girls show outfit designs that have been tweaked and changed, for what reason I cannot say yet! @/daylinthepopstar from earlier also posited the idea that they might have been downgraded in power by Homura after her takeover of the universe? Plausible theory!!! Kyoko is snacking on something as usual, with a look of annoyance on her face, while Mami’s look and crossed arms show motherly/constrained concern, again as usual. I think what’s most interesting here is definitely Sayaka! While yes, her design seems to have been changed somewhat, what stands out most are the bandages covering most of her face. Even still though, the way she nonchalantly flips her cape and given that we can see at least one of her eyes, she seems aloof… At the end of Rebellion she was the single person who was able to withstand Homura’s memory rewriting up until she got serious, and claimed she’d never forget even if her memories were all re-written that Homura was her enemy. So perhaps, she’s fought against Homura many more times since then? More than Kyoko or Mami? Could that be why her face is (presumably) injured, and why she seems flippant about the situation? Like she knows this fight is a losing battle? She’s supposed to have the best healing of all of the magical girls! So many questions!!!!
-Oh boy it’s HIM. Next is a shot of Kyubey’s eyes, like the many times we saw this shot in Rebellion. He’s still around in some form or another, though since Homura was unloading all of the world’s curses onto him, I wonder how he looks so pristine. (This is only a closeup shot of his eyes though, take this with a grain of salt lol)
-Next we can see a book or stack of papers being scattered into the wind against some kind of sunset. After this we see a downward panning shot of a tower of some sort that Homura stands on at several of its points. It looks like it could be made of those papers we saw scattered earlier. Not only is there a large chain interwoven throughout this tower (possibly symbolizing the position Homura has chained herself to in her devotion to Madoka), but the Clara Dolls (Homura’s familiars from when she was a witch and then became a devil) are also placed throughout! When we get to the bottom, it seems as though this tower is on the rooftop of Mitakihara Middle school, which Madoka and Sayaka often sat during the original series. At the bottom, Homura sits on a chair/throne.

    • @sakemonkey
      @sakemonkey 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

(HAD TO PUT THIS IN 2 COMMENTS LOL)
-These final few shots show Homura in said chair under said tower from earlier. Her Clara Dolls are still present around her, and even though her outfit is slightly different, we still know it’s her. Her body language (tapping finger and fidgety leg) seems to convey some kind of annoyance… She seems much more distressed than when we first saw her at the beginning of this trailer… Next, it looks as though she lets out a cough, being covered with her hand and then we get a close up of her face. Here eyes are sullen, and there seem to be bags under them. As she readjusts her position and places her fingers against her head to steady herself, we glimpse her soul gem on her left hand. (It looks as though the inner diamond is black). Could her sanity and grip of her power over the universe be slipping? Is she losing control…? Are the scattered papers and nonuniform tower supposed to represent her losing her grasp on the universe she took over?
      DIALOGUE:
Now to go over the actual dialogue we hear! Homura starts by asking whoever is (presumably) calling her if they can accept the risks and responsibilities, followed by asking if they can fight against the curse of the world. These curses are probably meant to be the curses that manifest in some way no matter what. Through witches or Wraiths. She could be talking to this new mysterious magical girl, but it’s unclear!
The next few lines are spoken by a voice/voices we haven’t heard before…
      “It’s a secret, a secret. Don’t tell anyone”
“There’s one thing you must do”
      “That’s love”
      “What nonsense”
      “Devil”
      “A Magical Girl I don’t know”
      “Bring Hope”
      “Just Bring Hope”
      “Goodbye. Release that girl”
Then we hear Madoka’s voice intermixed:
      Madoka: “Hey Homura”
Then back to the unknown voice
      “My best friend”
There isn’t any dialogue for a while until we get to the end, where the unknown voice(s) say:
“And so, let the curtain rise on tonight’s dream.”
      Homura repeats this phrase herself.
-It’s my personal belief that these mysterious voices could be Homura’s Clara Dolls! Perhaps acting as an alter ego of hers or some kind of doubt that has grown within her. When the voice says “Devil” in Japanese, they say “Akuma-Sama” and “sama” is a suffix in Japanese that usually means someone of higher ranking or status who you work under/serve. Think of attaching “Lord” or “Lady” to the beginning of someone’s name in English. I feel like the Clara dolls could very easily refer to Homura as “Lady Devil” or “Lord Devil” since they are her familiars and do her bidding. Perhaps the Clara dolls are making a call to someone, possibly this new and mysterious magical girl, requesting her that she somehow free Madoka so that the burden may be taken off of Homura? If familiars value the preservation of their master, this would make sense, since Homura seems to be falling apart.
      *
My current theory (based on what this teaser has given me) is that Homura is beginning to lose herself to the weight of the universe she’s created. The Clara dolls, possibly representing her alter ego or a doubt that has grown within her, reach out to a girl who would have been the catalyst for Walpurgisnacht’s creation and ask her to free Madoka somehow. To “Just Bring Hope.” And as we all know, Madoka became Hope itself in the past. One way or another, she becomes a magical girl, somehow inheriting Homura’s bow and possibly other powers. As this is going on, Mami, Sayaka and Kyoko might be fighting back against Homura’s devilish tyranny, possibly hindering or helping this new, yet unknown magical girl. Madoka will likely be under heavy guard and kept ignorant thanks to Homura’s desires. But for the good of the universe, (and based on the title of the movie) the magical girl who would have been Walpurgisnacht will have to rise and break this endless cycle Homura trapped the world in all those years ago.
      *
Holy heck, this teaser has already given me so much to be hyped about! I absolutely cannot wait to see it! And I absolutely cannot WAIT to be wrong about 95% of everything I’ve speculated here!!!
Again, if you have anything you’d like to add or disagree on, please do! And tell me how excited you are and what you think this film will give us after we’ve waited so long!!!!

The way Im kinda interpreting the weird thing on homura primes arm is like if her witch form (forgot its actual name) were manifested into a physical separate object or being kinda like with what happens in magic record. The long spine/skeletal imagery and salamander seem to be invoking her witch. Sense we have no ide a how this world and especially how homira in particular works yet I wouldnt be entirely surprised if something kinda similar to that were possible in homuras case. I saw a theory I liked that used the concept movie trailer, in the concept movie Madoka says something like "help me my fairies, lend me your power" and then we see several miniature "fairy"-like silhouettes appear that allegedly match up with the designs of the historical magical girls that Madoka saves ( it kinda reminds me of the cut scenes in the new trailer where you can see shapes in flashing colors but not tell what it is). So if the new movie follows the concept movie plot with Madoka calling the magical girls she's saved for help and to " lend me your power" I think we could see Madoka fighting in the saved magical girls outfits/ forms and using their powers to fight enemies for short periods of time since Homura has sealed away Madoka's magical girl form and that could be the mysterious new girl, she's just Madoka in a borrowed form. Madoka could be borrowing power and fighting back unconsciously in dreams that affect Homura's new world and that could be why Homura looks so stressed or is losing control. I think so because Homura mentions a dream at the trailer's end which made me think of rebellion and nightmares but also the mentions of night and the moon. Not related to the last theory but my immediate thoughts after seeing the trailer and looking at the name "Walpurgisnacht rising", I feel that Homura is going to lose control of Madoka's power, power over saved magical girls and the strongest ( Walpurgisnacht) will free herself of Homura's binding and somehow try to break the girls out of the labyrinth / remind her savior, Madoka, of who she really is which will lead Homura to lock Madoka away in the birdcage. I also feel that because Madoka is a goddess, she was able to contain witches and purify them but Homura is a devil so her power may possibly be corrupting Madoka's saved witches, making them return to their original witch forms in the fake world, causing the need for magical girls in the fake city. I also think Homulily's familiars play a part in Homura losing control since at their core, they're made to hate Homura and push her toward self destruction, one of the Homura's wears a headband that's the same hat pattern that homulily's child familiar wears.

I have a theory about the new character maybe it’s the other half of madoka that found a way into homuras labyrinth and hid her identity and that’s why she has the bow and the red ribbon might connect to madoka or because she’s the law of cycles she takes the magical girls so maybe she can use their magic too like how she’s using the ribbons like mami

First thing that the spine and the shadow boney hand in the poster remind me off is Attack on Titan. Which is probably not the intended reading lol. Actually relevant is that they remind me of Homulilly. Bones are a big theme of her design, indeed in her arms and thoracic cage. Though as for what that means, no idea.
When the voices in the phone say “Devil” the Japanese says “Akuma-sama”, which leads me to believe it’s Homulilly’s familiars speaking, The Clara Dolls. Everything they say are also thoughts Homura/Homucifer herself has.
Finally, I’ve seen some people speculate the bandages over Sayaka’s mouth are symbolic for her knowing the truth about Homura/Homucifer but being unable to say it. Kinda like the Operator veils in NieR Automata.
I’m of course hyped af for the movie too. Looks like I have to get to watching Ureña before it comes out. It’s become increasingly obvious how important it is for the yuri/magical girl collective imaginary and I shan’t put it off any longer (or so I say right now lol)
Edit: I’ve also seen people theorizing that Homura is now the one contracting new Magical Girls and this is what she is doing in the first scene of the trailer.

Just a thing from the tie-in manga for the original series: when Homura's fight with Walpurgis is shown, at one point Homura is directly attacked by three silhouette figures -- the silhouettes of Mami, Sayaka, and Kyoko in their magical girl outfits. Which is either meant to be a psychological feint from Walpurgis or that even the dead magical girls are part of Walpurgis.

9:58 the only skeletal hand I remember is Homulilly’s. With the other side being the crystal salamander. Maybe Homura vs Homucifer is about going back and deciding what happened at the end of Rebellion. A sort of meta commentary on fan reception towards that ending I guess lol. Homura Prime wants to make it so that she died a witch and was never able to mess up Madoka’s wish/went to magical girl heaven with Madokami while Homucifer wants to maintain the status quo of new universe. Death as Homura vs rebirth as Homucifer.

Btw in relation to the new character, as a character designer I can't help but think it's literally a combination of madoka and Homura. I mean look at her. she wears black tights and shoes that are also mary janes like madokas. She has pigtails and what seems like strawberry blonde or grey-ish blond hair, her skirt is literally homura's but longer. same with the vest she's wearing with the chest part cut out like how madoka has the chest part of her dress being different. and lastly we got the poofy sleeves like madoka's and arm warmers as a mix between homuras long sleeve and madoka's gloves. I mean i dunno about yall but this resemblance to homura and madoka is not a mistake. and if that's too outlandish then I'd at least assume she's somehow related to homura and also possibly madoka. I mean her outfit is just too simular to not be that in some way. maybe she's also a combination of the entire group tho since the trailer says magia quartet at some point but i dunno really. I just think that if this was a new character it'd not be designed this way. and i dont think it looks too much like mami other than maybe the chest part or hair.
