These are such great questions and great answers! I had never thought of dwarfism, so that was an interesting question. I guess I just always thought you were small and that was that hehe.
OI restrictes height due to the fact fractures occur in the growth plates, the bone spends it time healing, filling in not lengthening, therefore stunting the growth of the bone..We often also suffer from bowed long bones as fracture are never set as they would with the average able bodied person who break bones. We are left with the bones overlapping ( kind of an "oh well" attitude from medical professionals ) thus when the new callus growth and fills in the break the bone is healed in the state of misplacement leading to what would be a deformity. The more fractures that occur the shorter the long bone and the more deformities, this also leads to futher breaks as the limbs get trapped in clothes, bedcolthes or merely turning etc due to the shape that was allowed out of neglect by medical professionals not putting the bone back into place. Breaks are going to occur but how they are treated post fracture makes a massive difference to the outcome of every OI person. So with regards to height we may be stunted, not our attitudes lol With regards to dwarfism anyone under the height of 4ft 10 falls into the catagory of dwarf, however 'DWARFISM' the condtion that gave the specturm regarding height is a genetic condtion which arises to the trunk of the individual being of average height but the limbs being of a shorter stature, you can also find that the head can be larger with a prominent forhead - Achondraoplasia. There are many other forms of dwarfism including Primordial dwarfism.
Another insightful and informative video, Gem. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Thank you Herbert!

Thank you! Yeah, it’s something I don’t think about often but get asked every now and then ☺️ thanks for your support as always 🥰
