    I'm in the initial planning stages of my relocation to Ghana. Yesterday, it was revealed that a young lady who I thought was going to be a great connection a good friend was entirely fraudulent. It was entirely discouraging, it made me question my discernment and if I was just too naive to make it Ghana. Following this incident I found myself on TH-cam searching various topics on Ghana and ran across your videos. They are helpful, informative and you present the topics impeccably. It got me back in a positive (and realistic) place regarding my move. I am looking forward to more content!

      Hi! Please don't be discouraged. Unfortunately there are people that will always want to take advantage. I always say go with your gut when it comes to making decisions. You can most definitely make it here if you are willing to try. Start with a very small group of people you know you can trust and work from there. I've been in Ghana 2.5 years now and I have to be very careful all the time. It's not a reflection on you, it's just some peoples nature. Ghana can be high risk but also high rewards so keep going, you will make it.😊

    My biggest concern is web access. I would set up a work space in my home with enough space for staff to work in my business and other operations. I need pricing on areas where that are affluent residences or have land to build. Can I hire a couple that can set up something that will work re web on a dedicated basis. Also a power gen and water storage on sight and most likely at least one trained bodyguard (I deal with high level finance and political issues and I'm 6'8" so I stick out a mile away). I would ship my car and over and about a garage full of papers to outfit my offices. Will need office staff (ESP an Exec Asst) and always do college internships as that is a great way to train and mentor. I am a disabled senior so will also need house staff to care for me cook clean valet etc. I saw some vids on real estate there but no prices given.

    a Ghanaian lawyer told me normally in Ghana people don't go for building permits once the building is there, however ECG requires one before they connect you to their grid, so I guess most get their connection the same way as us by knowing the right person who with a little money can be of meaning for you in this area

      +Blackcricket100 The problem with a lot of these things is that they help to some extent but for as long as someone is willing to accept a bribe there will always be something dodgy going on. Good evening how are you doing I would like to say I thank you for posting your videos we have learned a little bit more than what we have known of Ghana. And I planned on relocating in the next 6 months scary. He is my problem I grew up in United States the same as Millions of sleeves descendants have and it seem like I've been to the point of when George Floyd got Kilt no African countries ever reached out to us here there was an in bassador to Africa said to the Presidents of Africa the whole of Africa that they're killing us up here with no place for us to go. Did the president of Ghana steps forward it said that it was time for the descendants of slaves returned back Africa that's cool in fine but where it really rubs my ass at is. Remember we we know this country even though we might be getting a s*** end of the stick. We pick up and we moved back to Ghana we ain't got no family there I'm trying to find out inviting us back to do what is this a special and that we can buy ISM so special kind of schooling to help us if I was to what this is like when the slave master turned the slaves out after we was free with no way to go with a live so we come to Ghana and what do we do I don't know where to go I don't know where to live and then you said something very scary about how people steal your money for laying down there see if he will put them in jail so our people free to steal your money down there just go free then you said don't get it twisted Ghanaian are very smart. I don't get that we have never thought that you was stupid and I really hope that you don't think we are stupid over here either the advice for the man was good but when you made that statement. It sounded like you was putting down people that are not from Ghana like y'all are smarter than the average bear. I after watching your videos I'm having mixed feelings

    Great vids! Any who, I want to know something about presenting a gift to the chief for land. What a gift entails exactly(type of gift)? I asked this question because a certain Chief is giving away free land and one of the criterias is liquor and an undefine fee. Is it so?

    I have a question for ANYONE who'd be so kind as to take a shot at explaining the answer. I live in a BIG American city. Yes, from time to time I see homes with bars on the windows but they certainly do not appear on most homes. Many times I have read that crime in Ghana is no worse than in America and often times less. BUT ... when I see pictures of houses, apartments and businesses in Ghana, and pretty much every other African country they have bars on every single window and door. They resemble prisons or fortresses! Homes for sale advertise barbed wire, electric fences, gated property, 24 hour security in even mid income ares. I'm hearing one thing but seeing another! Is the real story of crime in Ghana being whitewashed, or are people over reacting by putting bars, barbed wire, electric fences and 24 hour security on residences that really could do fine without these precautions?

    • @moretodela
      @moretodela  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's a good question. Putting up barbed wire and bars on windows here is pretty much standard practice. Everyone does it here, I think if you didn't do it people would probably be confused and think either you are a witch or you must be so high up in level of importance people dare not touch your property. Again in the same breath poorer people don't have anything like that because either they can't afford it or they have nothing to steal. Either way you look at it prevention is ALWAYS better than cure in my opinion.

    • @yusufusayd3151
      @yusufusayd3151 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And just to piggy back on what these ladies have said, you have to keep in mind also the history of some of these nations. Today we look at countries like Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, etc, as stable developing robust economies, but, across the board, these are all relatively young governments and economies who not so long ago were experiencing "growing pains" of wars and civil unrest. Not so much for Ghana, but, in the case of say Ivory coast, Liberia, etc...even Nigeria, these guys are just getting over civil wars and tribal clashes. And dont let a election be contested or a coup...lol.
      I am not saying any of this to spark fear or plant a negative seed by any means. Hell, i leave for my new life next week.
      My point is, dont think of the security you see so much as a crime deterrent, rather...a when the "Shit Hits the Fan" measure. When riots or mobs running around, how safe do you want to be? Thus the high walls, barbed wire, cameras, etc. Do i feel that any of this is likely, no...but, in some places it is a reality, however, minute.

    • @yusufusayd3151
      @yusufusayd3151 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well the short answer is Ghana. I have the same issue as most African-Americans with families who decide to leave the familiarity of US amenities. I have small children and a wife who us NOT feeling this at all. But im opening a small food processing plant in Kumasi and plans to do some telecomm work in Liberia over the next 4 years.
      But if liberia was a ready to go or as developed as ghana, i would move straight there. But given the recent civil war, basic infrastructure needs like power issues and internet will be too much of a gap for my family to adjust to coming from atlanta. So im buying in one of the Accra suburbs. Check out my site www.ghfinancial.net

    The Leasehold part is worrisome. Any future change in government policy or politcal change can make it easier for the government to take your land rights away even if you have all your right documents. Freehold makes it harder to take your land away, which is probably why it's no longer an option......I may need to research this a bit further now..

    • @moretodela
      @moretodela  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Idk I think for diasporans w/out familial ties to Ghana this process would be a major turn-off. Parts of it I totally understand, but other parts just don't make any sense in the 21st century. The process can be straightforward if Ghanaians wanted it to be, this is about the will of the people. But I guess the drama and inefficiency works so hey to each his own.🤷🏿‍♀️

    why does buying land seem so hard? their is no register of deeds there where you can go to check the plot and owner?

    • @moretodela
      @moretodela  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can do a window search to see who’s name the land is in but that does necessarily mean that the person hasn’t sold the land to multiple people. The best way to check the land is to activate it as quickly as possible by digging. Someone will almost certainly turn up if it has been sold elsewhere.

    So, if I came to Ghana and decided that what you guys really need is a title company and I decided to start one. would my americanized ideas be welcomed or would I get tossed out of the country for not doing things the African way?.

    • @moretodela
      @moretodela  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think when it comes to registering for title, it's more of a government thing. I'm not sure if you would be able to come over and set up a company like that here.

    • @pforce9
      @pforce9 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Natural Ghana Girl Transferring title in America is a government thing too. The title company does all the legwork and issues an insurance policy to guarantee that you get the land you pay for. You do not need to know anyone in california to buy land because title companies research the deed and guarantees the transfer. Sounds like you guys could use someone doing this to take uncertainty out of these kinds of transactions.

    • @moretodela
      @moretodela  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +pforce9 I hear you I really do but I don't think Ghana is ready for that yet simply because paperwork here can sometimes be really messed up. Some information is not even held on computer, it's on literal paper where someone has to go and find the actual file. Lawyers are often involved in the purchase of land but yet still they face problems. Land originates from a chief, no one else. It belongs to a family of people and sometimes it difficult to establish the true owner. When a chief dies the land is then split among the children. I do agree, some type of agency is needed and I will take my hat off to the person that can create such a system here.

      ***** Something else i just noticed about Ghana, I thought that if I went to a country in Africa, I could hang out with black people that were into Yachts and Yacht racing like myself. Well I checked out the Ghana Yacht club and guess what? They are all white, just like American Yacht Clubs. Apparently in AFrica, I would still be the blueberry in the glass of milk. In fact it seems that white Ghanaians are offering outreach to black Ghanaians to teach them how to sail. Why don't you black people in Africa own yachts?
