Hi Oertli. Great machine! I just bought a Catarhex 3. Is there a way to shift to vitrec mode using the foot pedal? The local Oertli tech here said there is no factory setting for that. My question is why? when almost all phaco machines now can use foot pedal to shift to vitrec mode. I am sure there should be a way to do it but if none maybe you should try to incorporate it. Thank you!

That being said, it’s true: There is no option to switch to the VIT function by using the pedal. Please let us add a couple of words to this: - The CataRhex 3 is the so-called «Phaco-Terrier», which already said, it is an anterior device with a focus on Phaco (including I/A, Capsulotomy) and Glaucoma treatment - Out of our experience, with easyPhaco, there are almost no capsule ruptures - Toric lens procedure is younger than the CataRhex series (Iridectomy) We understand that this answer does not help you out. Dear Aziz, In order to use the full functionality of the OS 4 in vitrectomy, with venturi pump, high-speed cutting and injection/extraction, we rely on external compressed air.

Is it contains build-in air compressor for vitrectomy as other modern equipment?
