This is probably the best explanation of reading music that could ever be created. I've been playing the keyboard for fun and had no intention of learning to read music. Until now...This is explained so clearly that I started to understand it all. I think it's very possible that you are the best piano teacher on TH-cam, and this lesson definitely deserves a special mention.I'm glad I could watch it. Thanks a lot, man.
The biggest problem with learning to read is keeping track of so much information at once, left hand right hand, remembering notes, rhythms, intervals, posture, etc. Granted working in levels aims to make this process much simpler. Having students also write music out is helpful for learning to read. Works wonders in terms of reinforcing what we're learning.
Hi Zach, This youtube video is really great. On the last Step(5), the link refers to your previous video The Best Piano Sightreading Tool. That video (and the tool in this case) is pretty old. Do you plan to update that material?
I don't know where you learned the words to use for the "acronyms." The much easier way is "every good boy deserves fudge" and "good boys deserve fudge always." This way you're not having to memorize 2 TOTALLY different things confusing you even more. As for the sharp and flat, the easiest way to remember that is that a sharp nail goes up and makes the tire flat, making it go down.
