- What's up friends! I'm, alive? Kinda?
This is a special episode, as the channel turns 5 years old today! Plus, we hit 100 subscribers! I wanted to talk about my favorite game of all time, Castlevania Symphony of the Night. A review would take way too long, but I found an original video idea for this game which I think you'll enjoy! I... still missed the deadline by a few weeks, lol. February 22nd was the anniversary.
Next episode will likely be on Ys 8: Lacrimosa of Dana. I usually only reveal this stuff on my Discord, but I thought it'd be a good idea to leave something in case I leave for 3 months again. The next episode is in fact being worked on!
Anyway, I hope you like this rather unusual video! I don't usually do ranked lists like this, but it was fun to make! Might do more in the future.

And of course, thank you so much for watching! A real heart to heart here, thanks for 5 years. I'm very grateful for this small community that has stuck by me for all this time. I started TH-cam because I wanted an outlet to just ramble and exert my passion for this hobby of mine. It's rather difficult to get that out in my personal life, I don't really know anyone in real life who loves retro games. If I started talking about Castlevania SOTN at a family dinner, I'd probably get looked at like I'm a lizard man communicating coordinates and biological information with my superiors, LOL.
TH-cam has been a great way to just get my weird opinions out there. It's a perfect harmony alongside Twitch, if I want to relax, play games, and talk about whatever with my friends, I'll livestream. If I want to rant like an Arkham Asylum patient about one game for a lengthy period of time, give it a score, weigh the pros and cons, etc. I'll take it to TH-cam! A perfect system!

almost missed this video! Nice job! glad you returned! I personally like the underground caverns, but I am only judging on a atmosphere / vibe. This is really helpful how you name all the important pick ups in addition to the bosses and stage designs.
Yo dude! Thanks for watching, I'm glad to be semi back? Only doing TH-cam right now haha. Good point with the underground caverns, I should've brought that up! It does have really nice atmosphere, sometimes as a kid I'd just hang out there and enjoy the music. As an adult I still have a lot of fun going through it, even if it's a tad too easy and long for my taste.
I ended up cutting some of the item drop segments, since I thought people would get tired of it! That's cool that you found it helpful, for some of these locations, the item drops are a huge factor, nothing beats the satisfaction of leaving a place like the long library with a ton of nice new stuff lol.
I still gotta remember to watch your Konami Justifier video. I keep reminding myself and then forget again!

Happy 5th anniversary my man😊! Great vídeo and you nail The locations spots nicely (Love The Coliseum!) One thing about The "Ghost" (Specter) on saturn Cursed Prison, you can kill it with other stuff as well that is not Hit, Cut, Dark Or Curse as it absorbs but The other attributes it Just resists. The game devs never made enemies have more then 4 attributes assigned tô either weak, strong, immune Or absorb because it doesnt show in The bestiary so that left Specter only being Neutral tô Stone of all attributes (and water but its a dummied out attribute) however its a mind fuck situation cause nothing on ps1 absorbs Cut Or hit ( The closest are The slimes being immune tô Cut) as in The beginning of The game you will have only Cut, Hit and One Curse weapon tô use (good luck farming a Medusa Shield🥶🥶🥶)
I appreciate the kind words man! Haha I should've known you'd have a deeper insight on at least one of my talking points! It'd be a neat idea for a future Castlevania though, if maybe you had to use a certain type of attack or weapon to inflict damage on an enemy. As long as they don't go overboard with it!
It's seriously impressive how much you know about this game. You can probably look at one pixel of a SOTN enemy, know what it is, what it's weak to, know who designed the sprite, and who coded the AI, know where those developers live, and know what they had for breakfast this morning! I was pretty lucky to have you during my SOTN run last year haha.

About your challenge idea with being forced tô use One Attribute only in a run, as long as a mandatory boss isnt immune tô said Attribute then The run is possible (unless you are allowed tô change for these instances only). Holy is The absolute easiest one with Dark being The Hardest thats for sure.
Welcome back friend. I'd like to recommend bloodstained: ritual of the night to you. It is to me what to SotN for you. Or at least a close equivalent.

Oh yeah Bloodstained is a really good game! Not quite SOTN level for me, but that's probably just because of nostalgia!

@@chid255 perhaps if I can spare the time. And yeah I thought you might say that. I played SOTN because I liked bloodstained and feel the exact opposite as a result. 😆
@samwhary5498 Bloodstained objectively is a more balanced game. It doesn't get super easy like SOTN does. But for me a lot of the fun of SOTN is how customizable the game can be in difficulty, just by limiting what you have access to. It can be as hard or as easy as you want it to be, which is pretty unique for a metroidvania.
@@chid255 fair point. Both also have excellent music. Lots of fun environments and traversal mechanics.. I enjoy the martial arts and magic systems in bloodstained. Though in fairness I've not explored SotN's in depth. I only know I'm terrible at the combos in SotN. XD
