Ah, finally! Ms. (Mrs?) Potter is absolutely one of the best female vocalists I've heard strutting their stuff live... And you're spot on: where most guys seem to be stepping away from seriously honing their vocal skills and expanding their pallet, women are definitely picking up the slack!! Especially in that traditionally male-dominated rock arena... And rightfully so, too 😀👍 And let's be honest - after all the songwriting and vocal skills, she's easy on the eyes too... #everybithelps 😀👍
From her rock to her ballads, Grace is one of my favorite vocalists out there for sure! Bonus points for the guitar work and great piano playing to compliment.
Ken, Thank you for introducing me to this awesome vocalist. She said she developed her style by imitating and covering others. She has big, rich, manly tone (a compliment) yet extremely feminine!
Know her a long time already and because of this tune. This song is so catchy, it never lets you off the hook again. Check out the version when they perform in a hotel room. It is 100% honest rock. Thanks for the review.
Hey Ken. Hope you are doing well today. I don't know alot about Grace, but man she can sing from the bottom of her toes to the tip of her tongue! So much energy and emotion. She is definitely a keeper in the music library!🎤🎤🎤
Grace was born blind in one eye and she only sees blurred shapes in the other eye, yet she has learnt to play the organ and the guitar, on top of that she jumps around that stage like a mad women throwing everything into it and she does it all without any sign of fear. Her voice in (Grace Potter and Joe Satriani cover Cortez the Killer) is something else again. Ken you're spot about some of these female acts right now. Beth Hart probably the greatest voice last couple of decades (man or women), then there is Hannah Wicklund who has a huge voice and is an absolute beast on the guitar (she's only 21), then there is Rebecca and Megan Lovell (Larkin Poe) Both have great voices with Rebecca having a monster voice, both of them amazing multi instrumentalists.
Never listened to her Ken at all she has a lot of energy great vocals great pitch rock solid like you say she is great I definitely need to check her out more she's awesome I like her singing she rocks Ken she has my vote man👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
She is amazing live great shows. Also writes all her own stuff. Plays keyboards. Front porch blues, rock, metal, pop, country edge, lyrical story telling, energy and mood. Polished a pile of covers. True musician.
Grace Potter is amazing her song stars is a favarite of hers. Rachael Price (w lake street dive) would be good for this series. Another underappreciated artist
''metrosexual vocals'' hahah! spot on terminology! :D I'd heard ''Paris'' before but didn't know who the singer was, really glad you gave her a spot on your series. I totally agree with you in that its really cool to see girls just enjoying themselves on stage, really getting into it and rocking it out, kind of moving away from the typical soft or cutesy way of singing and performing and going towards a more passionate, raw kind of thing. And Grace does it... with a lot of power, and grace in my opinion (pun very much intended). Another artist ive seen go that route lately is Miley Cyrus, she went live on Jimmy Fallon with a cover of Maneater by Hall & Oates, and man, was it strong. You should check it out. Anyway, love to hear your perspective on all these different artists, Ken. Hope you keep the series going longer! Peace ❤
Omg that was my first time seeing her. Loved her fearless approach. She doesn’t have a huge voice, but she has a that crystal clear tone and knows how to use her chest voice on the lower notes to pull off that blues sound. Also, the little swoops up the the higher notes at the end were great!!! I’ll definitely been finding her on Spotify.
she does her version of Honky Tonk woman by the Stones. Its really GOOOOOD. She doesn't always sing it in concert, but she's done it a few times. Its worth checking out on YT. Underrated singer, agree. That woman has charisma as well. Spices up her songs.
"Grace was the unofficial Queen of Mountain Jam which this video is from (2010 if I'm not mistaken) . I can actually see myself & the group of people I was with watching this performance right next to the sound tower . For another great M.J. performance by Grace , Check out her doing Fleetwood Mac's "Gold Dust Woman" with the Festival's Anchor Band & usual Friday & Saturday Night headliner , Gov't Mule 🙂
I first heard Grace doing “Stuck in the Middle with You” as the theme song for the NetFlix TV Series Grace and Frankie. It’s an amazing cover with so much energy. Check it out if you haven’t heard it.
Never heard of her but the song kicked ass. I love powerful female vocals. And Ken you are the king traing powerful Female vocalist, Gabriela that Woman has Lzzy power! And Sara so powerful and versatile Kati wow, well done Ken. As a man who likes to hear powerful Ladies thanks.
This lady is talented for sure. I'd like you to check out more female singers. Please don't forget Crissy Hynde of the Pretenders, very rockin lady. Also Grace Slick! Woo
Yes don't think heard Grace Potter before she can really project that voice, great energy, fun and would I be correct she sings a clean tone / not alot of grit!!
i love all the older classic rock 😁👍 groovy blues rock 🎸🎤〽 Love her style too, they inspired me over the years , its hard to sing and play guitar same time, for me anyway, thanks Ken
Good review, but the clip is about 10 years old and the band has disbanded. She and the band have a ton of stuff on Y tube covering a long period of years. Two of the best songs "Joey" and "2:22" will blow your mind, quite a few versions of each to choose from.
She is a very good singer just as you present here. The music is also played by pros but still I would not choose this song to my playlist. Interesting voice.
Never heard of her or this song. But wow, she's good! I think I need to hear some more female belters. I'm doing your course and I've posted in the forum and all, but it seems my problem is I keep going into head voice too soon. It's that chest voice that I'm having problems with. I'm trying to listen to some female vocalists to try and get an idea. Coming from Sweden and growing up with music like Roxette, I'm thinking of their lead singer Marie Fredriksson (who unfortunately passed away recently) I think she had such an amazing and really powerful voice. Such a sad story in the later years her voice wasn't the same again, after the brain tumor. Could you please do something on her?
Florence from Florence and the Machine is another great vocalist to check out. ****. Could you rewind back to the 70’s and critique Phoebe Snow ? Actually, there’s a video of her singing “ At Last” in early 2000 that would be AWESOME for you to comment on. 👍🤔
She’s crystal clear and solid with great tone for sure........ do you think girls are just more physically comfortable singing high and there is more effort involved for men?
I like this tune! 🤩 Love that stabby guitar in the verses 👍 and REALLY love her voice! Check that metro sexual non sense like gretta van fleet! They sound zeppeliny enough but the singer is ??? Anyway, Bro, THANKS 😊
Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy ha! Awesome thank you. I introduced her to my 20 year old nieces the other day and said “her voice is like a trumpet” my niece started laughing. Now when she hears a trumpet she says “oh it’s Chaka Khan” I’ll watch your video now :)

Her latests videos have average 500K during a few days. Sometimes even 1M views.
Don't agree with your take on what guys "should be" singing, though. Guys should sing however and about whatever makes them happy. Life's too short to not be true to oneself.
I just checked out her on Spotify after seeing this...and MAN I love her.
Very cool! I love introducing cool music!
The video version of this is hot 😎
Check out Tiny Light. She blows it away in that one.

Thanks for the visit. Merry Christmas! 🎅⛄🎄🤶🏻
