Great to see XCOM2 still getting the attention it deserves. It's simply one of the most replayable games ever made with the incredible modding community still updating to this day.
I would like to suggest two more mods that I consider an absolute must have. First is the one you're using already - Unit Flags Extended or any of it's alternatives. Vanilla XCOM 2 unit info presentation is lacking and seeing an actual HP number instead of "pips" is a massive QoL improvement. The other is a mod I would genuinely refuse to play without, the brilliant Gotcha Again Redux. With how wonky and outright unpredictable lines of sight are and how easy it is to unintentionally break concealment and activate additional enemy pods, Gotcha Again Redux is an absolutely essential fix that provides information that should have been there to begin with like if you are going to trigger reaction fire or break concealment by moving.
I'm a little disappointed Long War hasn't been displaced or at least met an equal after all this time. But then again, they really set the bar up there.
My new loved mod is Covert infiltration (similar to Long War). Huge overhaul, i like it. There are some great playthroughs on YT using it so everyone get a look at it, to decide if it suits you. For classes i also can recommend Amalgamation, saw ChristopherOdd using it, a class pack of 252 classes with mostly randomized perk trees. So not only you make them different using from the same options but different things are offered too.
It's going to be up to the modders to keep this game alive. We're probably not ever getting a new Xcom game again with how things turned out for the devs
Yeah that tends to decide the longevity of most games I'd say, I'm sure we'll get another XCOM game eventually, just a matter of if it's as good or not since most of the team has changed
@nimblemonster The good news is that Xcom 2 is already good. We've got mods galore and modders we can donate to, to show our appreciation. So no matter what happens, at least the community is still working together.
Gdamm i recently played the mobile version, reallly good btw, but all of this looks like a big DLC that ive never experienced on the mobile ver. Thank you mate
Also dont forget to add that Long War quadruples the game difficulty across the board and requires another 100 hours put into the game before you even begin to understand whats going on.
I've been getting into youtube more recently and have been struggling on deciding what content to make other than some fantasy games I like and Helldivers, but do lots of tiktok for HD2. Anyway, I played Xcom 1 Long War last year and just loved it. Would this be up my alley all things considered with these mods?
I would say that if you enjoy it, you should make videos about it. Doing TH-cam is really easy to burn out on, but if you're doing it about things you enjoy it becomes a lot easier to make higher quality videos
@nimblemonster oh for sure, I used to stream on Twitch and am partnered there. Got burnt out. Life stuff. All of that. Really liked X1 LW so really just seeing if it's as fun or thereabouts.
@@DubbleLime I think it's an absolute blast with X2's personally, sometimes even more difficult somehow but in that glorious painful way that xcom always is lol Definitely recommend giving it a try!

That only happen if the enemy still through the fog of war before show in sight.
i'm pretty sure pavonis didnt work on lwotc, they did work on lw2 but lwotc is a community project of a lot of modders already famous in the modding community working together
Correct, LWoTC is an entirely community driven port/enhancement, as Pavonis wasn't paid to do it. LW2 got me into the game originally, and LWoTC got me into the modding scene and able to give back myself through work on it, the Highlander, as well as some standalone stuff

It's cool going out and finding commander Shepard but it's not so cool getting recruits with random bits of N7 armor. I don't wanna scroll through all that stuff when I'm customizing either.
There's a mod to limit any and all customizatios from showin on NPCS. Also one that forces them to use your charactwr pool first before starting to gen new dudes
I'm surprised some talented modder out there hasn't created a new Chosen. The intro had a scene that looked like a breach mission, what mod is that? Is it similar to a Chimera Squad breach or just an alternate load up screen to dropping in from the Skyranger?
It's an alternate loading screen (as cool as a Breach implementation would be!) It comes with the Long War of the Chosen Mod, as they add new types of missions that have different loading screens.
@@nimblemonster Aaaah, Ok Thanks. I was thinking that it would require a total overhaul to the play style to fit the small room dynamic of Chimera squad. XCOM2 has no respect for walls you can demolish your way through buildings without using any doors😂

Question though, I'm doing long War of The chosen right now but I have not been able to do a single lost mission. And I don't get any missions that allow me to reduce the avatar project. Also my first mission I started with a skirmisher in my crew. Is that normal? I didn't get any of the missions that introduced The Lost
When you start up your playthrough there's a few tickboxes you can check that will alter the game such as "Start allied with the Skirmishers" which could have led to you having one off the bat. For the lost missions, I don't know. I know it's possible to skip the first reaper+skirmisher rendezvous mission
I'll be completely honest, Long War kicked my a$$ back in Enemy Within even in the "easiest" difficulty, thus, tbh I'm hesitant to try it here as the vanilla game is already a bit much for me. Is there an actual easy option for Long War WotCH? Other than that, the QoL mods are truly needed for sanity. Would love to see which mod you have to see the HP bars and numbers alike
Gotta agree with Nimble here. The long war only increases complexities on both the tactical map and the strategic side of things. What are you getting your ass kicked from?
Is there a mod to get all the NPCs like Central, The Chosen, and the Resistance leaders to stop talking? It's a minor thing but after a while it gets annoying and I really want all of them to shut the hell up.
There are definitely still mods not for WotC, they will be labeled in the description very often. And many of the mods on this list are also applicable you just have to find their non-wotc variant.
I am usually not the type of guy to tell people off on grammar, but since you seem to put a great deal of effort in your scripts I just want to remind you that when you say the word "amount" you mean the word "number". An amount isn't countable, like an amount of money or water. An "amount" of skins is countable making the right word to use "number" and "amount" wrong. I liked your video a lot and I am definetely gonna be picking up some of these mods.
Super appreciate the correction! While I do think "amount" is still an applicable word, I definitely agree "number" would have worked better. Glad you liked the video still! Hope you enjoy those mods :v
@@nimblemonster Do check the cambridge or oxford dictionary because "amount" really can't be used for something countable. Although it's up to you what you say of course!
Really? Long war 2? That's pretty disappointing tbh, I feel like that mod is extremely over-hyped and overrated, it's one of the few overhauls that I don't think deserves the praise it gets. It just sucks the fun out of the game by making everything super punishing and unfair, constantly forces you to retreat and takes away all the feeling of being a badass that makes xcom so fum, it's also a compatibility nightmare with a lot of mods since you need to hope that the modder actually wants tyo make a long war compatible version. Plus, the team's stance on difficulty (the original ones, not the folks that ported it over to wotc) is/was extremely bullheaded and arrogant "oh no, It's not the found of our poorly balanced mess, *you* are just bad!". Anyways I think number 1 could have been a lot of other mods that are simpler but also way less unfair, like the Proficiency Class Pack or Iridar's Five Tier Weapon Overhaul
