- This is a video I made in New Hyde Park Long Island New York with a group of my fans and subscriber rail fans filming rush hour in the evening coming out of Manhattan to the Island. So many trains that some were right behind each other and speeding through the station of about 80 mph. This was the busiest rail line I have ever seen besides the Northeast Corridor. And at the end of the video meet all the rail fans and the names of their You Tube channels.
Also stay tuned at the end for some rail comedy fun.

Living here you know this spot is a railfan's paradise because of the number of trains and different types of trains you see every day. Hope you enjoy your cross country trip....

Our family calls that train the blue train lol. We live right by the railroad tracks with that train coming by every day 1:02
I lived less than a quarter mile from the Port Jefferson Branch in diesel territory, and these trains were so fun to watch. Being a railfan like i am, i could watch the trains pass every morning as the bus got stuck like clockwork.
Also i don't know about New Hyde Park, but in Smithtown freight trains were very very very rare moves. Maybe 1 or two a year that i saw.
In New Hyde Park, at least 2 freight trains a day pass in each direction.

I'm a fan of trains. I just don't see them very often. That's the problem.
1:14 first time I've seen a cab car on one of those trains! I thought they ran with two locos!
2:24 It took 4 locos to pull three flatcars!
4:32 didn't expect that train to go that fast! But trains do go very fast in the northeast!
7:36 I like those old Leslie horns!

9:45 that didn't last long!
11:29 that horn sounds better on a shortline geep, not a modern EMU!
I'd like to see a modern LIRR train painted Gray with orange stripes. Or painted maroon, and meant to look like mp54s!

Franklin D. Roosevelt is born in Hyde Park, NY. He deceased in Warm Springs, GA due to polio in 1945.
FDR contracted polio in 1921, and it left him confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. It was actually a massive cerebral hemorrhage that ended FDR's life in 1945.

End of 2020 nearly all the crossings got replaced with bridges, no more annoying bells

In the summer I'm taking the Silver Star to Lakeland from New York to visit my best friend.
Sounds great. Make sure you get on the Silver Star. The Silver Meteor doesn't stop there
the freight train wasnt much of one.3 rail cars and it was overpowered.this crossing needs to leave and be replaced with an underpass or overpass because of how busy it is
Carbon2983 Trains it would be an engineering challenge to have an over or underpass there given how close the main roads are to the crossing.

Four MP15s (6,000 horsepower) for THREE flatcars? Just like one video I saw on mbmars01's TH-cam channel earlier today that had two Norfolk Southern Dash 9-44CW's (8,800 horsepower) pulling three freight cars... WAY, WAY overpowered.

As of 2020 almost all the grade crossings along the route got removed and replaced with bridges

Heard from someone at garden city the other day that your coming on Oct 15 again. The question is, where are we going? Bethpage and farmingdale are good since 2 lines go through it. Or are we coming here again?
These crossings are gone and so are most others in nassau
My guess it’s because they blocked traffic along much of the route
