It amazes me how nobody is using the combination of ropes and engine. First thing I taught anyone who was crewing on my boats was rope throwing, tying and releasing. You can then tie off on the bow or stern and use your engine against the rope. Many years back when I had a river boat we did enjoy watching the hire boaters.

Ive took a 50 ft canal boat up the Llangollen canal twice, never been on a boat before…..this would be child’s play in comparison…….didn’t have a single issue or put a scratch on it , over the two full weeks we did , but I suppose 23 yrs of hgv driving…taught me to look ahead and adjust accordingly, do everything on the water slowly and methodically…..you’re there to relax, it’s not a race, 👍👌🇮🇲

Hi Jonny, well, it’s a relaxing Labour day Monday holiday here in NSW…the rubbish man woke me up, I thought I would have a look at TH-cam and you came along…thanks a lot! Three Valium and six whiskeys later I am finally able to write this note. I think that you are in great danger being anywhere near that bridge today. Seriously, thank you for another great video from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 😊

@@jonnytreehouse yeah, we will have to buy a crate of whiskey 🥃 and have it sitting between us! But, what will we do with all the empty bottles? I see that we are not allowed to drop them in the drink! That ranger might come back and do more than tell off two very drunk gentlemen! I have just been visiting Robslondon, also a very enjoyable channel. I had better see what’s going on down under before going about my day. It hit about 37 degrees here in Kellyville yesterday, today should only be about 28 degrees. Have a good evening.

A long time ago I worked for NBYC in Hickling and loved doing two seasons on the broads. I miss it sometimes but I dont miss some of the idiots you get faffing about on the water. The amount of times that bridge was hit or they had fouled their props up and one of the guys would have to go on a rescue mission there I lost count. But there was always Lathams which me and my Mrs used to visit often from our cottage in Stalham. I loved Norfolk and we miss it.... but seeing this makes me think that the ranger who I vaguely knew back than certainly earned their pay.....

There’s more big boats, and big tall boat son the Broads In the last few years. More suited to rivers and waterways where there’s no bridges. Customers, hirers or these boats have got to be told they are limited to areas of the Broads that are restricted. As for the pre-cruise briefing, if you say you’re happy once they’ve given you the gas the electrics and so on they’re more than happy to get you on your way without any boat handling instruction., The bigger boatyards can easily afford the cost of a prang or two of GRP in the cost of hiring these boats
