Happy to hear that "my set is now complete...". I'm a Contax Zeiss lenses owner too. I Own the 18mm too, then the 25mm f2.8, the "Holywood" 28mm, 35mm f1.4, 50mm f1.4, macro 60mm f2.8, 85mm f1.4 and 100mm f2. All these lenses are to be used on a BMPCC6K too.
@@jordankaiwright The 25mm has 8 elements on 7 groups and the aperture is F2.8 to F22 and it's minimum focal distance is 0.25m or 10 feet. It's very good for close-ups and only weights 360 grams, diameter x length is 62.5 x 56.0mm. If you are chasing for the "ninja bokeh", it shows at F4. It's not expensive and I bought this lens just to cover the gap between 18mm to 50mm. It falls out from the "standard" group because is a f2.8 (standard is f2 and the supers fast are F1.2 or F1.4). All AE Contax Carl Zeiss lenses are made from the same glass, this means, you footage will get the same color, saving your time on post production.
@Matthew Hogan I agree with you. Speaking from an adapter, before, I got a Metabones and a Fotodiox. I found better use of the Fotodiox over the Metabones. The first one it's manual and cheap. There is an apperture ring that you can control. More, if you are using a manual lens and thinking on having more contax zeiss lenses, why use a Metabones with electronics contacts?
Hi Fernando! Any of those have a rotating front? I mean when you pull focus and it rotates the front which makes it difficult to use a mattebox/focus puller? tks!

Hi dear! I have the Pocket and bunch of contax. It is great(25, 28, 35 2.8, 50, 85 1.4) and I’m thinking about the 18 for a while. Often people are saying that the 18 is a weak lens, not sad harp wide open, but have is classic rendering. Further more it has problem to use it with variable Nd because of the rotate 70-86 adapter.. Any thoughts about it? Thanx a lot!
I find it to be sharp enough, really love the lens. I do not really use VND so a fixed ND works fine with the lens, but it can be annoying yes especially with a matte box.
Of Two Lands I use adjustment layers on Final Cut Pro X with Color Finale. Anyway I noticed you have the border bug on this video, that’s why I found out it was Final Cut Pro X. You must zoom to 100,5% to remove the border. Apple still hasn’t fixed this stupid bug, so we have to apply a small zoom on the footage to remove the border around the video.
Zeiss is a superb brand, and have been for ages. Nice video but I honestly think the cut at 2:18 was.... (add something offensive here :) not to my taste. But many nice colors for sure.
What's your solution with its rotating front element? I want to get this lens but it doesn't work with my clamp on matte box system, which makes me hesitate to buy this lens.
Hi have you ever considered uploading to Vimeo as well? I shot some test footage and compared ProRes on Vimeo to TH-cam. The difference was notable. Regardless, great clips.
Never felt the need to. It doesn’t add anything that I don’t already have with Prores. Plus I edit in FCPX so it’s a much faster workflow :). BRaw is awesome, just not for me.
I really liked my pocket 6k, but my focus peaking was always off and had shots with missed focus.. Also the battery life was only around 20min. If they fixed that, I would buy another one. It has beautiful footage!

is the UHD 1080p? Footage looks kinda mushy, could be youtube compression, could be my monitor! A really good video though, love the music and pace and the visuals just seems the image quality is missing on this one.
On my NEC it looks good at both 1080P and 4K. In fact, at 4K it looks sharper than I would expect. But this lens is (thankfully) no Sigma in terms of sharpness.

Hi, I am an editor and I hope you don't get me wrong, I don't want to talk down on you with this post. You produce great images, but in my opinion, most of the time, your films do not tell a story. I think your work could gain a lot more tension and interest for the viewer if you would also focus on detail shots which push a story forward, show people's faces (not always walking people from behind), less wide shots, and a different approach to music - less always-hypnotic songs/ambient, use more changes in the different kinds of music you use and a more creative and bolder use of sound design. I am always drawn into your videos for about the first 30 seconds and then they stop telling a story and repeat a lot of actions and shot angles you have already shown before. I think sometimes cutting down a movie in length can make it stronger and more professional, sometimes you just have to kick out a lot of shots you are in love with (because you filmed them) in order to make an artistic statement. More is less. I think that's a problem of most travel and so-called "cinematic" videos, but your camera work is very strong and it would be great to see a more filmic approach - not in the images but also in the editing/storytelling. Yeah I was going to say, he is showcasing a lens, for people to see what it looks like in different situations, inside, outside, daytime, blue hour, golden hour, etc... This is not a short film and I believe he labeled the video appropriately, aiming for viewers interested in this exact lens... If he labeled the video as a film, then that would be false advertisement. I get what you are saying as a fellow writer, I just think what you want out of the video and what it was intended for are two different things. I mean all of this with the upmost respect for both of you! Just think it's a misunderstanding.

This one is modded so none :). I do list the adapters I use with my Contax on the other videos. I have fotodiox and K&F :)

Did you get the 18mm front end modified? I read that it doesn't have a filter ring to add filters to it. How did you fix that problem?
I just bought the original front adapter that gives you a 86mm thread and then got a step down ring to 77 :).
