Main issue with the new Type R is that it cost £30,000. Now Ford have announced the new Focus RS which has 4wd and 345 bhp yet it will cost £28,940. The RS will also keeps its value a lot better which will not bode well for the Type R. IMO Honda will have to reduce the price of the Type R to sell more volume.
I see a lot of haters on here lol do you think owners would care what you think? small minded people, Honda thought out the box here clearly! car is a monster, beauty of a car, why stick to a boring design? ive driven a golf, megane, bmw, all the rest of it, I've seen the car, driven it and now ive ordered one, the car looks so much better and meatier in person, knocks spots off the ep3 and the fn2, love this car, absolutely amazing, you get a lot more tech and a better engine for the money, big improvement from the fn2, nice review Miss Jackson lol
+LE PASH ENTERTAINMENT i can aprove that! Saw it today in person and i was amazed about the detail in the design. Such a nice composition in the shiny black spoilers and the white elements! Till today ive hated the looking of this car! But now i like it!
I actually prefer that Honda have reversed how the VTEC system works as now the sensational performance is much more accessible in the real world. Super review too Rebecca.
After a disapointing start of the honda Civic of this gen, it finally has come to look good. It looks outragious, just as the 8th Civic did and that is just what I want. It's a lot more power and money than what I was lookin for, but if I am going to replace my 8th gen civic for a 9th gen, and I don't need a station wagon by then, this is my only option.
i no a lot of standard cars have boring engine bays but should show fast cars and also love to see some of that power shown on the speed dials, even if it in bottom corner of screen, gives better indication of SPEED :)
TDI North just put a new intercooler and exhaust (catback) on there one and now its making 350bhp even without a remap interesting to see what the top speed is with a extra 40bhp as its already a very fast car
+Aristotelis Mitsiou (tkk7406) I agree. I think this was a good concept ... but just like BMW's concept of idrive from yesteryear .... the reality is a bit ... meh!
+Sinky No, it looks like an unusually detailed job, for a car in this class, has been done on aerodynamic efficiency. Evidently by the numbers it has worked.
First of all, you go back to school and take some English class cuz u can't spell. It seems like u own a fucked up 1999 civic. U have no fucking clue what the v6 accord is capable of
+PvanP It's probably not reversed but revised to depend on the turbo boost as well. The goal is maximizing the air entering the cylinders. Under high boost it would make sense to use a shorter lift duration and smaller valve overlap to keep air from escaping the cylinder.
Blade ManX It's not that quiet!? It drones abit and is a bit boomy... Honda have already pushed the exhaust to as sporty of a level as they could, without making the car irritating. It's far louder than other turbo 4s, such as the Subaru STi.
I think its great that women love driving the hot hatch cars, it is a fantastic car, I love mine, I wouldn't sell it or chop it for anything else, because it is quiet unique and a rare exciting car to drive, thanks for the review, I think its great Honda dared to be different and bold with the design, thumbs up
that looks damn sexy with these black Color, and with red contrast, with white color you see all these extra parts, and it disturbs, but with black it looks much decent...
Ugh, a £30k hot hatch? What is wrong with the car market these days? And now even Honda has slipped into the sub-7k rpm turbo game! Goodbye highly tuned N/A motors, you will be missed.
Always have faith in Honda. They always keep it clean and simple, none of this automatic nonsense you are starting to find in some hothatches nowadays I.e. Audi RS3.
It's quite nice to know that the "old" Golf Mk5 Edition 30 from 2007 with a simple remap still pips this thing on power; ok, map this one and get more... but you won't be seeing a lot, it will only have a little turbo to use with VTEC... spend 30k on a hot hatch and still have a bit of class? = Golf Mk7R all day long, 380bhp with remap bye bye Civic... again. Oh, and VW are bringing out the Golf R420 soon too, oh dear... Honda finally realised Turbo's were a good thing but were WAY too late to the game. BMW thought the same, but came around in the end, F10 M5 ftw.
I have a lot of respect for Honda, especially when they set out to build a fast car. They've proven their abilities over and over. That said.. Even if this Civic Type R cost half, 15K, i wouldn't buy it. i HATE how it looks. I've gone off Civics since the spaceship design idea started. It's not for me, good car or not.
Is it true that this car is really bad on fuel consumption? I mean, these hot hatches are not built for eco-driving, but it is said to be much worse than the rival brands...
When is Honda going to finally pull their finger out with the Type R and give it AWD? Ford took ages to do it with the upcoming Focus RS but they've finally done it.
This reviewer says she has a problem seeing the speedo when she says "A speedo that is obscured by the top of the steering wheel"... Seriously? She seems to be oblivious to the fact that this car comes with a height adjustable steering wheel column! Honestly I can't take a review of a car like this seriouly with such idiotic remarks! Also she claims it has 300 BHP when actually it has exactly 306 BHP! Do some research love!
I quite like it... back to the "real hot hatch"... The likes of Golf R, A45 AMG, M135i etc are all too "luxury" now... while the I like the likes of Type R, Megane RS. Real driver's cars to hoon around.
Of all the "knowledgeable" keyboard racers below, I suspect few have actually driven this thing. I have. But I spent most of the time in a traffic jam. Fucking waste of a test drive really, but at least I can tell you it's a comfortable place to be in shit traffic. And the brief chance i got to open it up on a dual carriageway was amazing....
wow just been to honda today to have a look at the new type r and boy was i suprised how good this car looks from seeing it in pictures and on the internet beleive me this beast does not look as bad as people are saying it does wow it looks just great in real time not like the pictures or videos i have seen it looks a lot toned down than you think very suprised indeed
Haha what drugs are you on take it your about 15.the golf has better interior better ride quality looks a lot more subtle awd witch is faster most of the time and will retain its value.30grand for a civic you must be joking.
Merc A45 is better than the new type r. its a bit more pricey however its faster, looks better and is much more of a car you wouldnt be embaressed to drive in and is perfect for any situation. the A45 is where id put my money.
I can't help but think that despite the styling the Civic Type-R has joined the Golf and Focus in being just another bland turbo hatchback. That's not to say that I don't understand the reasoning behind why Honda had to go the route of forced induction.
I'm actually very disappointed with this car, I had really high hopes but I think Honda went to hell after the 8th gen Si. This makes up for the 9th gen for sure, but it's too quiet, and it needs to be more engaging, plus the 167 mph has been tested in the production model and no one has hit it yet...now the lady reviewing the car...phew! She must have some black in her family. Lol
***** Wasn't it? They became too boxy and technical after that. The generations that followed the EP3 became more understeered as a type R and werent as reliable either. All those buttons and gismos! what do you need it for? I dont care about laptimes on the ring, it's about a practical everyday car that is pure petrol pumping racing driver's fun. Without electrnoics to interfere the experience.
I like the weight & engine of the Civic type R, but damn the interior & exterior is so damn ugly. You will be kicking a lot of people asses driving one, but damn I will have hard time wanting to be seen in one. It all looks like it's made of plastic, the interior looks like something out of the 80's. Civic of the 90's were the best looking.
Smoking hot and I 'm not referring to the car.
+Bob Jones yeah I know. someone obviously put too much gain on the mic so it comes in too hot. that distorted audio in the intro was painful.
+YouBocaj67Tube kuuki
As always my dear, its a big pleasure to see You in the reviews. Keep it up!
Main issue with the new Type R is that it cost £30,000. Now Ford have announced the new Focus RS which has 4wd and 345 bhp yet it will cost £28,940. The RS will also keeps its value a lot better which will not bode well for the Type R. IMO Honda will have to reduce the price of the Type R to sell more volume.
thats a lie
+James Collins totally not a lie lol
+AdrieN Sui generiS Whats with the language. Grow up
***** the rs isnt as good looling or style ish as the type r and alot better to use on a track and the rs isnt even been put on the roads yet
Hope so! I can get my Honda cheaper lol :)

Finally Rebecca gets to review the cool cars!!! soo excited!!
I actually prefer that Honda have reversed how the VTEC system works as now the sensational performance is much more accessible in the real world. Super review too Rebecca.
oh man in black this thing freaking awesome
After a disapointing start of the honda Civic of this gen, it finally has come to look good. It looks outragious, just as the 8th Civic did and that is just what I want.
It's a lot more power and money than what I was lookin for, but if I am going to replace my 8th gen civic for a 9th gen, and I don't need a station wagon by then, this is my only option.
Yeah! My next car in 2016 ;-) Only 120 pieces of them in germany! And I get one, woooo!
The steering wheel is not in front of the speedometer, if you adjust correctly.
hey Rebecca thank you for another great review!! could you pls review the new Honda Jazz 2015... thanks
Oh god finally I could watch your reviews again! I saw you on carbuyer but then after a short while you leave :(
You have to love this car - can't wait until it hits showrooms in the US!
Not the best looking Type R but I feel it looks best in Black.. Is it a K20 turbo or a totally different motor??
When is it coming to the U.S?
i no a lot of standard cars have boring engine bays but should show fast cars and also love to see some of that power shown on the speed dials, even if it in bottom corner of screen, gives better indication of SPEED :)
Great review of a car I'd love to own down in NZ, I'll just stick with my standard model.
Wondered where Rebecca had gone, good to see you back!
Always loved your reviews Rebecca, keep them coming girl petrol head... 😊
TDI North just put a new intercooler and exhaust (catback) on there one and now its making 350bhp even without a remap interesting to see what the top speed is with a extra 40bhp as its already a very fast car
what is rebbecas personal car ??.
How does it reach the pedals?
God bless Rebecca!!!
Totally want that version here in the states!
Is there a new type s
you need to get 60 fps videos now, watching it with regular fps and then looking at scenes like these at 2:05 is really uncomfortable for the eyes
I'd take a very conservative Focus ST or Golf GTI instead of the "I've just crashed into Halford's window"
So v-tec kicked in yo doesn't happen anymore ?
Great review becca
Thanks but....why don't you talk about the +R "Racing mode"? :) It is the sexy selling point!
Exept for the wing, it´s the greatest looking hatch out there, and probably the best, since it´s a Honda.
It should be only as a 3 doors to be a proper hot hatch! First time you have a ponytail! I like it!
This Civic needs to be seriously re-designed on the outside. It looks like a badly designed Hot Wheels toy.
+Sinky I think that the 2006 Type R is amongst the best looking ones. Not too exciting and not too boring.
+Sinky Maybe it's about time to move on from the German egg shells, don't you think?
+Sinky coming from a STI guy, this civic is great, like the 1994 vtec
00:20 "What do you need to know here?" - Well, lets start with your phone number.
My god how does she manage to get the telegraph website and TH-cam channel appear in mid air at the end. Some kind of voodoo woman.
Always hated the v tec power delivery, would definitely consider Honda's now if the v tec power remains at the bottom range.
I don't know they claim this thing can do 0 to 60 in 5.7 secs. It should be quicker. My v6 accord can do it in 5.4 secs with less hp (278)
yea cause you you probably added bts abd its front wheel drive it dont have a chance anyway ideot
First of all, you go back to school and take some English class cuz u can't spell. It seems like u own a fucked up 1999 civic. U have no fucking clue what the v6 accord is capable of
Dude its still slow
Thxs someone agrees with me
Y'all need to learn how to read. I said the car should be quicker that my v6 accord since it has 305hp , and it's a lighter car.
1:21 Fernando Alonso & Jensen Button do not agree with your comments about the power of Honda turbo engines
A great review !
Nice review
the Vtec has been reversed? what's the point in having Vtec then?? I don't understand :p
+PvanP It's probably not reversed but revised to depend on the turbo boost as well. The goal is maximizing the air entering the cylinders. Under high boost it would make sense to use a shorter lift duration and smaller valve overlap to keep air from escaping the cylinder.
vkoptchev Oh I see :)
+vkoptchev It is reversed. Vtec is "engaged" at low rpm, instead of high rpm. At high rpm, Vtec is now disengaged.
+TassieLorenzo either way you wont hear it lol.....car is very quiet and the exhaust needs to be changed....
Blade ManX It's not that quiet!? It drones abit and is a bit boomy... Honda have already pushed the exhaust to as sporty of a level as they could, without making the car irritating. It's far louder than other turbo 4s, such as the Subaru STi.
I like your voice and your style and your way to introduce . I LoVe YoU from Arabian world
Looks quick, but the loss of the top end screaming makes it sound a bit wet noodle.
I think its great that women love driving the hot hatch cars, it is a fantastic car, I love mine, I wouldn't sell it or chop it for anything else, because it is quiet unique and a rare exciting car to drive, thanks for the review, I think its great Honda dared to be different and bold with the design, thumbs up
They used to call the old Brit Ford Sierra a "jelly mould" ,this looks like its little brother !!
Excellent concise explanation of technical matters Rebecca! Bravo! :) Some other channels could learn a thing or two about that. ;)
If that's a family hatchback, I'm Batman.
that looks damn sexy with these black Color, and with red contrast, with white color you see all these extra parts, and it disturbs, but with black it looks much decent...
Audi RS3.
It's a nice car, but why the name is Type R? It means Type Ricer or some what?
It's quite nice to know that the "old" Golf Mk5 Edition 30 from 2007 with a simple remap still pips this thing on power; ok, map this one and get more... but you won't be seeing a lot, it will only have a little turbo to use with VTEC... spend 30k on a hot hatch and still have a bit of class? = Golf Mk7R all day long, 380bhp with remap bye bye Civic... again. I'd rather watch her review cars than top gear, fifth gear etc,she reviews the car very well and she is very hot!

That said.. Even if this Civic Type R cost half, 15K, i wouldn't buy it. i HATE how it looks. I've gone off Civics since the spaceship design idea started. It's not for me, good car or not.
concept looked amazing this dont look right plus 5 door WHY? probably quick but is a bit ott ill stick to my ST fez.
How is this a review? There's barely any info about the car. This is more of an overview than a review.
Very nice review. But, apart from being very beautiful and attractive, your voice and accent are mesmerizing!
306bhp not 300bhp Great car love it.Getting one very soon
+Warren Blanch Im getting a chinese motorcycle soon faster than the Civic
+ZS K idiot
A definite improvement but it's not anywhere close to its competition - Golf R, STi, Focus RS, MS3.
Bring the high-end roar back!!!
The look is slowly growing on me...well at least when its in black.
i love it! great car!
That's a little over styled for my taste.
+matt k Japanese sports hatches tend to be a bit "tuner" looking.
+matt k thought the same thing...until i saw it in person.
+nizmojoeblows bu

I really don't believe you
+Kieran Docherty really? A lot of Honda dealers have one and anyone over 25 can book a test drive. It's not like I'm claiming to have driven a Zonda.
Long awaited by who?
that not enough car for 30k... they cant just up the price and expect people to pay for it
car looks the baddest ever
i want both...
J dont want Honda, J want You.
Finally!
Black&red, honda warpaint ;)
i like this car even tought it might been a bit hardcore ;)
wow just been to honda today to have a look at the new type r and boy was i suprised how good this car looks from seeing it in pictures and on the internet beleive me this beast does not look as bad as people are saying it does wow it looks just great in real time not like the pictures or videos i have seen it looks a lot toned down than you think very suprised indeed
Audio was very bad!
Rebeca 😍😍
golf R for me please the civic just looks like you've bought a civic and then gone to Halfords and gone mentle on the chav section
well golfs look like crap it looks like somone just put exuasts at back then added bits and golfs are slugish
Haha what drugs are you on take it your about 15.the golf has better interior better ride quality looks a lot more subtle awd witch is faster most of the time and will retain its value.30grand for a civic you must be joking.
Yea thete sluggish
just respect my opionion ok
0-60 civic 5.8 golf 5.3 and that's in perfect condition what's sluggish about that.
Merc A45 is better than the new type r. its a bit more pricey however its faster, looks better and is much more of a car you wouldnt be embaressed to drive in and is perfect for any situation. the A45 is where id put my money.
it aint mate merc are crap
+James Collins and thats your personal opinion. As is mine that Honda is 'crap'.
Ok fine but good look racing one
That boot!
Wow she is gorgeous, and Rebecca ain’t bad either.
Honda civic type r 2015
would have been perfect if it were a 2dr coupe.
+Jake Chang why?
I can't help but think that despite the styling the Civic Type-R has joined the Golf and Focus in being just another bland turbo hatchback. That's not to say that I don't understand the reasoning behind why Honda had to go the route of forced induction.
The rear is horrendous (not Rebeccas)
The fun you could have with that... and the car
I'm actually very disappointed with this car, I had really high hopes but I think Honda went to hell after the 8th gen Si. rather have the old one
+harveybirdman74 Which?? 2003 ?? That was the best looking AND in terms off handling. The 2007 was a bit too modest.
+Firemarioflower The EP3 (2001-2005) was astonashing.
***** However, i did like the space age materials in the interior of the next gen.
Mans car
I liked it for her 😆😆
I love her, she looks beautiful, sexy voice and we could talk about cars till the cows come home. Ideal woman !
Honda doesnt do a very nice dashboard even in the Integra type R it looks like a cobbled together effort with parts from the bin
OMG I just the the U.S. conversion and 30,000 pounds is roughly 45,000 dollars!
Like the front end, but the rear is just a mess
God please bring this car to usa so I can pre-order mine now. I don't care how much it will cost me. I will pay up to 40.000 dollars for it. please
really good boot in these cars, I fit a whole frozen turkey and some beers in there easy
I like the weight & engine of the Civic type R, but damn the interior & exterior is so damn ugly. It all looks like it's made of plastic, the interior looks like something out of the 80's. Civic of the 90's were the best looking.
seems like it quite noisy inside...classic honda issue
Car resembles an Austin Princess
Rebecca work here now? what about carbuyer? LOL
Fast&Furious has had its days! ! Now its over.
