Teachers are meant to teach, they are not behavioral therapists, if there is an uncontrollable child in the classroom, a teacher cannot teach and they cannot spend all of their time on just one student, the whole class suffers.
@@305Alligator Very true and is a dilemma with ASD. Research and money is needed. Sometimes kids are calmer at home because the child is comfortable in their environment. Imagine sitting on a pin, and no one can remove it. Now imagine that you have to live with that pain constantly. I think that is a good way to think of autism. The children are easily overstimulated because their brains cannot tune things out. When you sit in a chair, you aren’t aware of the pressure on your bottom because you can tune it out. So when overstimulated, the children become irritable and stim and make noises to try and deal with the severe discomfort. Having empathy for them isn’t an educational strategy though. Research is needed to help them.
