Thank you for the video. Today I did my rear brakes and rotor tomorrow I’ll be working on my front exactly the same rotors this video is great. Thumbs up 👌🏼
Great video! I'm getting ready to do my brakes here in the next week or so. Hows the wear on these? If its for street riding instead of the track do you still recommend these or would it be better to go OEM?
+Joe Rogers The wear is going to be a little bit better than OEM just because they will be able to remain cooler. If you like the look of the wave then why not go for it! They will work just fine for street riding.
Sportbike Track Gear....upgrading my brakes for this year. Torn between the Galfers and the HP Brembos. Doing canyon carving mostly, but do a track day once a month. What do you think Van? *Could care less for looks*
Hello there, so I did something really really stupid. I didn't tighten the torque wrench enough and that lead to me turning the wrench too hard and break the bolt with the bottom part of it inside the wheel. Do you have any tips for me? if not that's okay, great video tho.
main thing is get high quality colbalt drill bit very very carefully center punch small dimple in bolt important to be center of broken bolt start with drill one half bolt size or even a bit smaller and drill half inch then use tapered EZ OUT very easy and slowly rock back and fourth try to loosen also try penetring oil before rocking if does not move do not force too much because you can snap off easy out this is best do it yourself
Would this be a wise choice for a bike that comes with Brembo mono block brakes? I have a 2016 CBR1000RR SP. trying to find out if this is actually an upgrade in the performance category or the looks category.
IMO this is more of a cosmetic upgrade than performance you will notice. The OEM rotors on that bike are excellent and really only need to be replaced when they are worn out. Sure the Galfer rotors do a fine job, just not the type of mod that is easy to feel the difference after doing it. - Van
The Suzuki GSX-R600 will be built as a street bike that can also be taken to the track. The Yamaha R3 will also be built as a street bike this year. ~Aubrey
Motomade78 The carrier is offset from one side to the next. I did not mention it during the video because it is not always possible to offset the wave pattern and I have ridden with rotors offset and not offset with the same result and feeling at the end of the day. Each rotor kit will come with a brief instruction sheet that should be followed (like any other part you would install on your bike), this video is a good baseline to help a rider decide if they want to tackle the project on their own and showcase the product. - Van
+Motomade78 Brian is correct. If you cannot offset the wave pattern's valleys just ensure the carriers are offset. I run these Galfers with Spiegler lines and EBC HH pads and the stopping power is insane, only need one finger really.
+Kleyton Barreto Fontes Hello! Just click on the link below and use the site to find the right rotors for the bike! Right now you get some pads when you buy the rotors! www.sportbiketrackgear.com/GALFER
You really want to get a good amount of heat into these things in order for them to work properly. With the venting Galfer wants to keep away from street riders depending on these and having them come up too cold. Thanks for the great question!
to be fair, I don't really think that not sitting the pads will generate overheat... the heat is generated because the kinetic energy of the bike is converted into heat by the action of the friction of rotors against pads. Smaller friction means smaller energy conversion so lower heating on the brakes... I would say that the risk is just run way wide or maybe have an unwanted trail in the sand or worse a crash... In addition, the more you squeeze your brake lever the lower control you have on the force you are applying so this may cause an unwanted stoppie or lock the front wheel... Anyway, what is the actual reason (a little more technical) for replacing rotors and pads at once?
@@sportbiketrackgear I'm not saying you don't know, I just saying that I disagree and explained why... After 36 years, can't you share a little bit more so that I (and anyone else who has the same doubt) can understand?
C'mon guys ... your video is a pain to watch with the "filmed in a cave" audio. For someone trying to be a "professional", you guys really screwed the pooch.
Hey, Mr. Higginbotham. You are absolutely right about the audio, it was shameful. We are a small business and previously didn't make much room in the budget for production value and instead just focused on being thorough in the process to help our customers. We know now that a good amount of people like you really care about production value over substance so we have upped our game! Since this video we got a professional for editing and started using some legitimate sound equipment! Check out some of our newer videos and let us know what you think. Thanks for the input!
I agree the audio isn't great, but I can still hear everything the speaker is saying fine. As far as your mission to educate and guide people through the steps of an install, you guys have definitely succeeded! I've benefited a lot from watching your videos, so don't be too hard on yourselves.

You are welcome, happy to hear it was helpful. - Van
Do you not grease that axle bolt? Also do you not have to do a front end wheel alignment when you put the front tire back on?
No need to align the wheel as nothing has changed with the front end. I use a little Maxima MPPL on a rag to coat the axle. - Van
I want to paint the rotors should i powder coat or spray can
I would talk to a powder coater so they understand how hot these get. - Van
Good work, Mr. Van. You provided a few extra tips for me in this vid.
You are welcome and thanks for watching! - Van

can you tell something about disc bobbins(rivets) maintenance ? do we need to clean them so the disc is fully floating etc..
Haha First time I actually saw a torque wrench in your video being used
Hello do you have a link how to replace a Rear passenger foot Reg Rest Bracket for 2016 CBR 1000 RR.
PLEASE...
Sorry I do not, we no longer have this motorcycle in our shop. - Van
O well.! thank you for your time..
What brake lines are those? GP Style Galfers? I bought a set of Spieglers and the lines and fittings were to long, it was rubbing the plastic.
Finally some more mechanical videos.
Will we be getting more soon?
krqkan Yes, we are building three bikes this summer. Van

and when are you building a ducati? :)

The value for the disc of front brake and only one or two.
I want to buy the front and the back.
+Kleyton Barreto Fontes That depends on your bike, head over to our site and check it out!

Is Brian using a torque wrench!?
Flylikechris Man you caught me!
I want to change the rotors and calipers on my 2015 Zx6 636 what is a good brand?
Can't go wrong with the Galfer rotors!
No copper grease on the back of the pads ?
Well done man, extremely helpful 👍

How much ft,lbs of torque did he apply on those galfer disc.
sick!!! thank you!

Ik this video is old but did he forgot to finish tightening the axel nut?
Trust me when I tell you the nut was tight before the bike was ridden. - Van
I love stg that money back be coming in handy

why does it say track use only?

Galfer Nice Quality ".
He used a torque wrench but you never said how many pounds they should be torque down to🤔🤔🤔
Sorry if I did not note the spec, a quick Google search should get you the number you need. - Van
It depends on your bike
Nice video.
Seems the wheel would need balancing, especially if used on a Street bike.
This is a precision part that should not have any notable impact on the balance of the wheel. - Van
the waves of the rotor need to be offset
If it is even possible to offset the waves it will not make any difference in performance. - Van
Think your shirt is a bit to small for you buddy
So I put on a little weight, be nice I am sensitive. - Van
Lol any one catch him smack the shit out of the lower fairing after telling everyone it's ok to hang your calipers from the brake line?
Because Race Bike...
yeah...... a race bike that looks cleaner than most people road bikes.
haha donk!
Am i the only one that noticed his tire had no tread? Lol
It’s a race slick..if you don’t know that you shouldn’t ride a bike
