    Thank you Crafty Stax. I've been using Inkscape for a few years now, but I didn't really know how to transform photos. And now you've shown me. Thank you so much!

    Nice tutorial, a lot of work. I would wait until everything was colored, select all and remove stroke. I would also make some custom swatches, makes it faster to pick colors, but that's just how I work. Thanks for all the tips.

    Well, this motivated me to finally download Inkscape (I used to be a prolific CorelDraw user) and give it a go. I think I might like to apply this style to classic cars and vintage photographs, (featuring classic cars).

    I had no idea what that style was called, thanks! That looked really easy, so I downloaded Inkscape on my MacBook and had some issues figuring out what shortcut keys to use, but once I got it, it went much faster. Awesome!

    I watch your videos every single one. It is very useful to me as an artist. But this one is my favorite coz I love colors and somewhat similar to my painting techniques. So this year I will be starting working on digital painting and Inkscape is very useful and easy to use. Thank you so much for introducing this software. Keep producing more of this crafty stax! 😊

    For colors, you could also make a color map/palette of rectangles on the side, where you could just grab color with the eyedropper.

    Thanks for the information. Very nice video! I knew about this technique but I never tried to make an image yet!
    A quick tip: Removing the strokes one by one is a huge waste of time, you can select all the shapes and then remove the stroke all together with one move :)
    Nope, I haven't used Inkscape again in my life but I'm an average user of Photoshop and I found it obvious! :)
    By the way, can you do this also in Photoshop? Can you make a video about it?

    Great video, I love the WPAP style! Do you recommend using a mouse for this, or would a stylus on a touch screen be better?

    • @craftystax
      @craftystax  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's a great question. I personally struggle with a stylus but I think it is because I grew up with a mouse. So I would say if you are willing to put in the time and effort with a stylus, it would be amazing (I can't seem to muster the energy to master the stylus personally).

    Thank you! I have seen these but didn't know what the style was called. Quick question though, when you are finished do you click 'Group' or 'Union' to keep the pieces together before you export the image?

    • @craftystax
      @craftystax  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you are exporting the image (to a PNG for example), you don't need to group the image together at all. Exporting to PNG is like taking a photograph of your art; it locks everything in as a static image.

    great work on video content, but could you get something to highlight your cursor/mouse...
    trying to take it in, with 'here, here, here,and here'... but then have to rewind and search for the tiny mouse pointer moving
    doesn't project well for all viewers prob
    no criticism, again great work, just presentation refining maybe

    Love this thank you. However, how do stop the Bezier tool, from continuing. I find when I am working with it when I go to change, do something else, it continues wherever I move my mouse. Hope this makes sense.

    • @craftystax
      @craftystax  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that is a great question. When you are making a shape, your last click is the same point as the first click. So if you are making a triangle, point #3 is the same as point #1. This closes the loop and makes a solid shape.

    As usual, super ! I am thinking about something : is it possible to select all shapes and select altogether no stroke ?

    • @craftystax
      @craftystax  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes good question - Ctrl-A will select all the shapes, and then you can select the stroke and remove it. You can also hold down the Shift key and select more than one shape (and then remove the stroke). Hope that helps!

    • @marie-josee-bouliane

    Where is page down and select on Inkscape?

    • @craftystax

      Page down is a button on your keyboard, typically in the top right.

    Not just copyright, but what about living celebrity's rights to their own image and how long does that survive for heirs? Wish I had a guide to that.

    • @pythonjava6228
      @pythonjava6228 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it's a good idea to use images of a living celebrity. That would infringe on their personality rights. I don't know about the rights heirs have though

    Now I am confused by this, would on still be best to use public domain photos for the subject or could this be introducing gray areas here since it more subjective representation???

    • @craftystax
      @craftystax  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I personally steer clear from doing celebrity photos but I wanted to pick something that everyone could kind of recognize. If you are SELLING the designs, then one idea would be to do custom requests (like friends, family, birthday gifts, cats, dogs, etc). You are right - it's a grey area so it''s possible that someone could say "hey I own that image" but if you stick with public domain you can at least point to it and say "wrong"

      Hmm what are you saving the original project as? An svg file?

    • @TheLombardProject
      @TheLombardProject 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The problem is exporting PNG when you import the PNG it can't be manipulated. Name it and then save the whole window as an SVG when you open the SVG it will be ready to go.

    So sorry your tutorial still has a lot of errors. In WPAP, the shape of a plane that can give the impression of a curve is strictly prohibited, seen in the making of the eyes and eyebrows, the lines must be straight and firm....
