a wonderful world! from playin emerald on my gameboy under the covers to collecting vintage cards today and raiding pokemon go with friends, to gaole arcade machines? it always find a way into my life and i love it!
Pokémon to me in 1999-2001 is the last years of my life where my family was still together, my parents, grandparents were all still alive and life felt great. When I look at my base set cards it instantly brings me back to sitting in my driveway with my binder as a 8 year old
Sitting in the driveway with your binder. Man, same thing for me. Trading cards in broad daylight from your binder with neighborhood kids rolling around on their bikes and razor scooters.
Pokemon is peak childhood nostalgia for me. I remember going to 7/11 with every $5 I had buying packs right off the countertop next to the lighter display. Because that’s where these base set booster boxes were.
@Leonhart this was your best, most authentic video in a long time. No extensive ad or pushing for your own needs/wants. We all want those views, but when you connect with your audience and turn that desperation into something more positive, then we actually watch it all the way through and like/comment. Pokemon has been an amazing way to bond with my kids! We love the movies, shows, cards, and games! I love the values that they teach and how much fun we have just being together as we go on our own journeys!
Memories old and new. Didn’t have much growing up but my best friend had two GBs and red and blue. We spent hours and hours playing together and now that I have a 2 yr old, I’ve gotten back into collecting and sharing in the excitement of opening packs with her. Childhood joy, hers and mine. .
Pokémon means simpler times to me. Life was easy. Friends were normal. Social media didn’t exist. Race was not a focal point of society. My mom was still alive. I was 11 years old in 1999. I get chills every time I think of those times. And at the same time, I feel sad for my kids, because they have to grow up in today’s world. I feel sad that they never got to know what it felt like to be a child back then. life was good.
My Son recently started getting into Pokémon so naturally his excitement has gotten me back into it. The last pack I remember opening before I stopped collecting was a Pokemon Legendary collections pack. The nostalgia opening these Pokémon packs with my son is like no other. It’s been so long I get excited just pulling a regular holo, because back in the day those were what we were after even though Iknow things have definitely changed since then lol. All in all though I’m loving the fact that I get to share this experience with my son.
Pokemon brought me out of depression when i was a kid, pokemon was my friends because i wasnt social enough to make real ones, pokemon was family because my parent's would always surprise me with something pokemon. Me and my brother have played and collected pokemon for over 20 years and its a bond we have. When people have failed me or let me down pokemon has not.
Pokemon became my obsession at 6 years old & died off when I was in my teens. Pokemon ignited back into my soul this year when my daughter started to collect the TGC and play the games. Now it’s a hobby we have together & makes me happy to share my childhood with her ❤
Pokemon means a lot to me. Getting to grow up with Pokemon and seeing how it has evolved over the years has been amazing. It was something that I was able to bond with my friends over and still do to this day. I remember getting my gameboy color and Pokemon Blue for my birthday which is a memory that has stuck with me. I still have both today and love going back and playing it. Plus finding your channel and watching the videos reignited my love for collecting the cards again.
Just recently got into collecting cards with my almost 5 year old son. I grew up playing Pokemon, had two pikachu n64 consoles growing up, had all the Pokemon games from game boy color to Nintendo ds. I will always cherish everything Pokemon and plan to bring my son to a lot of conventions to nerd out with me.
The sheer amount of effort you put into these videos is mind boggling. Pokémon has always been a part of my life. Those sweet moments in which I could barely contain the urge to open my packs on the way home all the way to the relief a good pack of cards brings. You have been a staple of my older years, forming my passion for pokémon cards. I will forever cherish these feelings. Thank you and happy pokémon day to all trainers. ❤🎉
Trading Pokemon cards at lunch time and playing the games with link cables on the bus ride to school are such core memories to me. This series - problems and all - really does mean so much to me. Awesome video dude, love how you always give back to the community! ❤
Pokemon to me is a comfort zone. I have watched it since I was a kid and every time a new tv series comes out or a new game I get to jump back to so many good memories with friends old and new. It is a way for me to just enjoy something, regardless of what life is bringing at me at the time. Also I was always and still am a Bulbasaur fan, but I often picked Charmander simply because there were very limited options for Fire typing back in the day. Wishing you all the best!
Pokémon is what shaped my childhood. I met some of my best friends "Still to this day" on the playground where we traded, and battled. The games especially were an outlet for me during the long hours in the waiting room while my mom was doing chemotherapy. And when she passed away it helped me cope. Ill never forget those days I played yellow mostly.
Pokemon has been such a big part of my life ever since the original games were first released back in 1999. Now my children are obsessed with Pokémon and it feels like it has come full circle. Witnessing how much they love Pokémon reminds me of how I felt when I was their age and I love it. I gave my pokemon cards away about 10 years ago to the son of a family friend but now I am collecting again. We love your channel and thank you for all you do. Much love from the UK.
Pokémon was my entire childhood! So many good memories of playing the game with my friends and family, trading cards with neighbors, making my mom drive me 30 min to the mall when fossil set first released. Ahhh I could go on! I still watch the original show and eat cereal on Sunday mornings and I’m 31 lol. Pokémon means so much to me and always will. I’m forever thankful for the memories and this channel helps me relive some of those moments again. Thanks Leonhart ❤
Pokemon has always been in my life since Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald came out. My parents got divorced and playing it has always been a safe place for me to this day. My collection has grown tremendously and watching Leonhart's videos weekly is like icing on the cake!
The latest resurgence of Pokémon has allowed my son and I to enjoy something that I really enjoyed as a kid. Your videos are great and now we watch them and love the content
Pokemon for me has created friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. My dad and I bonded over pokemon go being able to get out walk, travel and play together which grew our relationship in many ways.
Opening 1st gen shadowless cards. What was crazy video. I remember opening my first pack years ago as a child. I was the OG pokemon kid. Had all the desks up to the neo. Pokemon is life
Pokémon means nostalgia, hope, enjoyment and more. I’m 34 and I’ve had friends make comments on my love still for the games and content. Which is unnecessary since I do all my responsibilities in life and it shouldn’t be anyone’s business. Games shouldn’t have an age limit. Things that bring people joy shouldn’t be tarnished. Play what you will and enjoy. Life is so fragile - why not stay as happy as possible.
I was bullied throughout elementary school and was generally a very lonely child. But when Pokemon mania began, for the first time, I had something in common with my classmates. It helped me feel like I belonged. Still a huge fan till this day and don’t worry I am no longer lonely ;)
To me, it means time with my son. I work a lot but when i get a day off we apend the whole day going to various shops and comic stores. We both have a collection and get a lot of enjoyment out of this. The most important though is that we do this together.
Gotta pick the Charmander! Pokemon means so much, being apart of this community and spending time with my family and something we love, ripping packs and trading
1st off I love the Pika-polo! I gave my collection to my son who is 7 and we now build decks, collect, and battle. It's awsome to see so many families who are bonding on Pokemon.
Pokemon means positivity, good vibes and great times! I believe Pokemon to be another tool in life to teach us things about ourselves we don't already know. Also, i'm proud to be a part of the team! Love you Heartsquad!
To me, Pokemon means friendship. Pokemon has helped me make friends as a kid, it allowed me to share my love for the IP. Even as an adult Pokemon still brings joy to my heart. I would choose Squirtle as my starter. Happy Pokemon day everyone!!
My journey started in late 1999 with Pokémon Blue - my younger brother got Pokémon Red. It was a lot of fun collecting Pokémon and badges, trading, finding out about new stuff like the unown glitch and feeding a ton of rare candy to your mon or getting multiple Mewtos or other rare Pokémon. Great memories and I still have the blue edition from my childhood. Cards came a bit later and I still have some of them. But man, my favourite Pokémon Gyrados is in rough shape - I´ll keep it tho, for the joy and memories.
I want to wish everyone a Happy Pokemon Day!! To me, Pokemon means trying to stay positive. I've been going through some tough times lately. I lost my job, my mother is in the hospital and I'm scared that my brother might hurt himself. Whenever I feel down, I look at all my Pokemon merch and watch a few episodes. Then I start to few a little better. Pokemon just has a way of making you feel better no more how bad you feel
I grew up in rural india. When Pokemon aired in 2003 here, we didn't have a TV. I had to walk miles to just watch the Pokemon episode in a friend's house in Black and white. His parents hated me because they didn't like their child watching cartoons. And they told me to go home because they wanted to watch something else . The episode was when caterpie evolved to butterfree. And that was one of my core memories.
My mom used to buy me a pack of pokemon cards some days when I was 5 years in 1999 when she would pick me up at preschool. It’s one of the earliest memory I have with her. I’ll never forget the day I pulled a Chansey holo. I’m 29 now.
Everything, I’ve got PTSD and Pokemon go has gotten me out n about plus got me into collecting cards and the takara tomy toys!! I recently got the charizard vmax box from china. My little brother n my nephew got me into all this New Year’s Eve 2022. Over a year now and I love it all. Friendships and spending time with family ❤
I'm 33. And pokemon was my childhood. The games on switch . Diamond version crystal version. Red blue yellow gold silver emerald version. Indigo series. This is my childhood. It's something special. Something personal. Something I love in my alone time.
Growing up i used to be alone like 90% of the time as my only family was my mother and she worked for the most part of the day and slept the rest of it, during that time i used to play all of the pokemon games, the first was sapphire then tried out the rest of them, including all of the older ones, looking back now i never felt lonely despite being alone because i had my pokemon friends keeping me company
Pokemon means a lot to me. Ive been collecting since i was 7, so 2017 was when i started. It brings a lot of memorys of trading with my friend on the bus, pulling amazing cards, and just collecting is so much fun. I had the hidden fates Charizard and I unfortunately lost most of my cards in 2020 and just started collecting again in 2023. I love watching ur videos and ty for making videos!!
The kiddos are so excited!! Thank you so much!! They said “we won’t rip it!!” They wanna frame all the cards💜 thank you for being a bonding experience for my family💜
Ever since the night before 5th birthday when there was bad thunder and lightning I was scared in my room and crying and my mum came in and gave me a cuddle and said I could open one of my presents. I’ll never forget…I got a Pikachu toy with light up cheeks. It stopped me from feeling scared. Ever since then, I’ve collected the cards and played all the games. For me, Pokemon is love and has changed my life forever and I am who I am today because of it! ❤
Red version was my favorite. I’ll never forget saving in front of mewtwo than stunning and ultra balling it until it was caught, dead or all my Pokémon died than I would turn my game off and restart. This took me probably 100 tries. “I used my master ball earlier on a Zappos”.😅
Pokemon was literally my childhood but my kids have just got into it n I'm reliving my childhood through them n it's brought us all so close as a family atm n probably why this video was suggested for me
Nostalgic memory of my childhood that’s creates love for pocket monsters and friendship with friends . Getting my gameboy and cable link to challenge a friend right after school. Can’t believe it’s been 25 years since
I purchased Pokemon cards for my Son, when he was just 9 years old, in 1999. I have Charizard base, Japanese base, German and Spanish 1st edition base sets. My Son has added to the collection and has started his own TH-cam channel for Pokemon and promote collecting the cards.
Absolutely love this video. It’s so awesome seeing how much other people love the game and always fun when older cards are pulled, even when it’s not the beautiful Charizard haha. I love all 3 original starter Pokémon but Charmander was always the one I went with and has always been my number 1 favorite.
I'm not a big fan of the current titles but I still fondly remember the Pokemon games from 2010-2016, I loved playing Pokemon Sun and Moon and to this day they are the best generation of all. Great video as always
Growing up in the late 90's and 2000's Pokémon was everything especially playing it on my gameboy colour, now as a adult its even better as i get to relive it but this time with my kids
I was in 5th grade when Pokémon became somewhat popular. I couldn’t afford any cards so I traded pencils, mechanical pencils, and pens in school for small digimon figures, then some of those for Pokémon cards. Pokémon brings some good memories and some bad. Bad because I was always behind, good when I spent all my birthday money on cards. Pokémon means an escape from life sometimes.
Pokemon reminds me of the days when life was more simple. Before social media. My Mum was still alive and the family was close and I still had hope. lol.
I believe the first time I played Pokémon Red/Blue, whichever one it was since I had both, I chose Squirtle. In recent years, I've grown very fond of Bulbasaur though!
Pokémon is mostly the main part of my childhood. I have loved it since I knew what it was. You and RealBreakingNate have made me start collecting again. Thank you!
Leon you opening packs like this is so under appreciated. It is absolutely amazing to see what you do for this community. You deserve nothing but the best. Much love from the Netherlands ❤️
I'm from Latin America, and back in the early 2000's, Pokemon was one of the few kid shows that they actually aired where I'm from. I also really liked some of the films from back then, while they are not the most popular, my 2 favorites have to be Pokemon Heroes and Lucario And The Mystery Of Mew.
Pokémon is such a wonderful fantasy. The idea that anyone can befriend these incredible beasts and train them to do awesome things is something I wish to live someday. I hope VR becomes so realistic one day, that I can live out something close to what ash did in his adventures.
15:07 Not that big of a deal to the majority but I thought it was really cool how that Abra card was a very light purple color. They typically tend to be dark purple. Unless... Did you leave the booster box out on the window where the sun was blasting on? Lol.
My starter of choice from gen 1 is easily Squirtle, my all time favorite Pokemon. What Pokemon means to me is a reminder of some of the best times being a kid. Going to Toys R Us to participate in the Pokemon TCG League, playing blue and yellow versions with friends and family, and going to Burger King to collect the Pokemon toys are among the fondest memories I have as a kid growing up in the 90s and early 2000s. Awesome video Leonhart
Pokemon means friendship, memories, nostalgia, youth and overall some of the most memorable times of my life and I would thoroughly enjoy one day to be able to relive those times once again, and from red and blue I would %70 pick squirtle and %25 pick charmander and the remainder %5 pick bulbasaur, I don’t know why it’s just how it is in my head
I started my Pokemon craze/ addiction as a tribute to my late cousin. We collected these as kids and he carried on till he passed away! I open packs every day and I will continue to do so.
This will sound dramatic but Pokémon is my past, my present and my future grew up with the franchise, loving it still and don't see any path forward where i get out of the hobby great video Lee
Hi Leonhart, my name is Johnathan I just wanted to say thank you for the videos and content that you post. My dad passed away 3 months ago and watching your videos really helps me out. Thanks again man you’re awesome.
What we did was taking the pack between 3 fingers and did a very slight bend on the middle of the pack and you could actually feel the difference holo pack and normal packs
I think it is crazy that they have not made these original games easily accessible on the Switch or come out with a modern Game Boy console - I would happily replay all of the games on Nintendo hardware if it didn't cost a fortune for something in good condition.
*What does Pokemon mean to you?*
Pokemon was a creative outlet from the rip at a young age, its so fun now to pass it onto my daughter! Something great to bond over!
Everything but i cant afford to buy
The first RPG game i played on nintendo Game Boy
Leonhart is living my dream
a wonderful world! from playin emerald on my gameboy under the covers to collecting vintage cards today and raiding pokemon go with friends, to gaole arcade machines? it always find a way into my life and i love it!

Pokemon means that even as my body gets older and my kids grow up and away from me, we can still share a feeling. We can be young together.
Pokemon meant the greatest part of my childhood years with my family and friends. Such wonderful carefree times.
Dude Leonhart is so wholesome man. A true gem of a human.
Pokemon reminds me of the days when life was more simple. Before social media. My Mum was still alive and the family was close and I still had hope. lol.
I don't think it's that much of a risk - You knew it was heavy.
I believe the first time I played Pokémon Red/Blue, whichever one it was since I had both, I chose Squirtle. In recent years, I've grown very fond of Bulbasaur though!
Best Pokémon TH-camr
Pokémon is mostly the main part of my childhood. I have loved it since I knew what it was. You and RealBreakingNate have made me start collecting again. Thank you!
Squirtle all day. Always love the vintage openings
Thanks Leon, for everything you do for the community!
Ps. Bulbasaur as a starter all the way!
My first ever starter when I was a kid was Bulbasaur in Pokemon Blue, was rooting for the Venusaur pack to be opened!
You just popped up on my recommendations I stayed around for the ennnneeerrrrrgyyyyyyyyyy
My child hood starting the weekend watching pokemon
I thought you were stepping away from this content but I just came back to your channel and I've see a lot of pack opening.
Leon you opening packs like this is so under appreciated. It is absolutely amazing to see what you do for this community. You deserve nothing but the best. Much love from the Netherlands ❤️
Would be cool to have all three starters and frame them, though. Maybe buy another one in the future and do that?
Lol.
Pokémon means a lot to me I watched it as a child and started collecting Pokémon cards when I was in fifth grade
I was a bulbasaur starter. Just got back into pokemon recently. Huge nostalgia rush
Gotta risk it for the brisket. Pokemon has brought our family together.
It's a whole world that's been with me ever since my childhood
This will sound dramatic but Pokémon is my past, my present and my future
grew up with the franchise, loving it still and don't see any path forward where i get out of the hobby
great video Lee
Definitely a childhood staple for me!
bro, I love this content. Thanks for bring happy vibes 😁😁
Hi Leonhart, my name is Johnathan I just wanted to say thank you for the videos and content that you post. My dad passed away 3 months ago and watching your videos really helps me out. Thanks again man you’re awesome.
pokemon is such a wholesome hobby I really hope i can afford to get back into it sometime
It's a trip to care free childhood and a feeling of accomplishment trying to aquire all the cards I desire
What we did was taking the pack between 3 fingers and did a very slight bend on the middle of the pack and you could actually feel the difference holo pack and normal packs
Honestly just the simplicity of it all . Memories of growing up with my brother playing
I think it is crazy that they have not made these original games easily accessible on the Switch or come out with a modern Game Boy console - I would happily replay all of the games on Nintendo hardware if it didn't cost a fortune for something in good condition.
Starter of choice would be Squirtle. Favorite underrated card is definitely Base Set Nidoking. I have a collection of them in various grades.
Oh man, I get nervous opening a sun and moon pack! Can’t even imagine how you feel. So cool!
