TMNT: Last Ronin Lost Years was a really great read! As a spinoff/prequel/sequel to the original, I would say that it succeeds at being all three.
You get a nice tale about what The Last Turtle was up to in Asia before he came back to New York (and how he got his badass electrified weapons), as well as providing solid character work for the newest generation of turtles.
If you wanted more elaboration on the original story, I can absolutely recommend this book!

I got the last ronin hardcover fallowed by the directors cut. Fallowed by the lost years hsrdcover and the action figures and i cant wait for my 10 year old to read them.

TMNT: The Last Ronin is one of my favorite reads in recent years. I think Lost Years is good but not great. It was nice to fill in some of the gaps that lead up to the events of the original story though.
