We came to a mutual agreement years ago that trying to decide who is the greatest between Polamalu and Reed is honestly a mute point because, even though they were both safeties, they were different kinds of safety. Polamalu was a hybrid/box safety who came up in run support or as a pass rusher almost as much as or sometimes more than he covered and Reed was a cover safety. They were both great at what they did but trying to say one was better than the other is kinda dumb because they weren't the same.

    • @MrCytree
      @MrCytree 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@walshdog61 That is why he said 'would have'. He didn't say Taylor IS the best ever. But anyone that watched him saw a man playing among boys. It was like when Lawrence Taylor, Randy Moss, Calven Johnson, Bo Jackson, Barry Sanders... played; they looked like they were playing at a different speed and some of them with far more power than everyone else on the field.
      Reed and Polamalu additionally benefitted from longevity on top of high level abilities, which is a valuable trait (in fact in the real world it is probably one of the most important traits and the reason we can only say 'what if' when mentioning Sean taylor instead of saying he WAS the best), but in the fantasy world of 'best evah' debates, I like to go by sheer freakish talent and physical ability; and in that case when discussing safeties, I would put Taylor above anyone.
