One of, if not the best conversations amongst Black actors talking what it's really like in Hollywood for them. I appreciate the honesty of these men about their personal and professional lives.

This is a really good conversation. I especially love that Derek Luke seems to be taking notes. I really like that a big part of this conversation was a learning opportunity for him too (for them all also).

Speaking of roles, Adlis Hodge, The Next Black Panther/King T'Challa....The man has bearing, cerebral stature, and command presense to portray, though a fictional, yet regal persona of honor & integrity....just saying... As a matter of fact the harnessing of these men's collective experiences can be brought to the foundation of character.....or maybe it's just me.

If Disney/MCU are to recast for Black Panther 2 it be one of these young actors. Maybe Aldis Hodge as he expressed interest playing black panther back 2012. MCU should take another look at him

I agree with Mr. Chalk about showing the world an ounce of what we and our ancestors have gone through. But that ounce has turned into a pound, which turned into a gallon, which turned into a barrel and now there's a stockpile.
When can we be seen in a different light?

  • @maxerd

Slavery didn't die, period. In the first world, what it morphed into can be found in aspects of consumerism. Marketing to black demographics is essentially racist, but the negativity is in the profiteering and exploitation, not the racism. Today the poor are equally exploited under badly regulated capitalism, as wage slaves to the money-god cult.
Besides that, slavery in general has less to do with race than it does with class. Today there are more slaves than at any point in history, and most of those slaves are owned by people of the same race, let alone the same nationality.
Don't ever forget your power as actors and activists to speak against modern slavery, and not to get lost in the tunnel vision of past/present race relations, in your stable and prosperous first world country.
